Welcome to the board! Fishing just to have fun and relax is the reason I do it. Great way to unwind and relieve stress. It's one of those things that cant feel like work for me. Anyhow, great introduction...looking forward to reading your reports!

Ummm....lemme see.....lemme think.... NOPE!!! LOL. I tried ice fishing for the first time last year....first time without a hut on Simcoe...the second with a heated hut on Scugog. Cant say I liked it. But...I'm sure by early Feb, I'll be going thru fishing withdrawal again and I'll be out there....LOL

Welcome to the board. You have a similar story to me and my wife (Bly on this board). We fished as kids/teens...then stopped for 20 or so years...just started up again just over a year ago. This is a great board...hope you stick around and post some pcis of your season!!

Here's a link to the Weather Network's Fall colour site.... http://www.theweathernetwork.com/fallcolour/on Here's a little excerpt... The Parry Sound region across to Muskoka sees the fall colour season winding down with close to 50% leaf fall. There are some small areas of bright red, yellow and orange remaining. Views from the observation decks at the fire tower lookouts at Parry Sound and Dorset are outstanding in the fall, along with the Lion’s Lookout in Huntsville. The Haliburton area has the colour now past peak with about 40% leaf fall in the area. Buttermilk Falls, along Highway 35, north of Minden is an excellent viewing location during the fall colour season. The Kawartha Lakes region is reporting about 75% leaf fall. There are still some areas of muted yellow and orange remaining. The Barrie, Orillia, Midland and across to Wasaga Beach area is showing the remaining colours generally dull with about 40% leaf fall. The Horseshoe Valley region, north east of Barrie is still offering some small pockets of colour. The Collingwood area offers some ideal fall colour viewing locations especially around the Scenic Caves. The area is reporting the remaining colour generally dull at this time with 25% leaf fall. The view from the suspension bridge at Scenic Caves, at the top of Blue Mountain, is always incredible but especially nice during the fall.

Wait a minute here.... Weren't we supposed to be entering an ice age back in the 80s? -
Great job!! Nice fish!

Wow...what a rush..I know when a salmon takes off it's pretty heart stopping...I imagine these are even harder to land!

Things are working at home again....glad we called yesterday to let them know about it. Hopefully everyone else is up and running soon.

Tell him to reference the following work tickets if he's having problems with them.... Ticket #WSR02084891 and case# 28340745
-
Just let him know that they have known about this issue since yesterday and are working on fixing the problem...hopefully it's resolved soon...at least I can log in at work.... As I said, they have admitted it's an issue at their end.
-
Anyone having these problems on Rogers Hi Speed Cable? We are having the same issue at home and have opened a work ticket with Rogers to investigate. They have identified it as a problem on their end and will resolve as soon as possible. We had the customer support guy actually view the old thread that was discussed on our board and has forwarded that information to the tech guys. My home computer cannot access this site at all...I'm currently viewing from work.

Nice work Bill!! Bly and I will have to venture out your way soon....LOL Great pic and congrats on your PB.

WOO HOO!!! What a great report Glen. We would have posted this yesterday, but for some reason our home puter wont load OFC. Bly wants me to email your report and pics home so she can read it. Looked like a great time with great friends and great fishing!

Now how can you tell that just from this? Oh...wait...you meant how she turns....hehe For me...clockwise only.

Bly and I were trying to decide what to do tonight. Should we stay at home? Should we get to those chores we've been putting off for months? Well, one of the things I had to do was go to the grocery store. With my 5 year old in tow, we walked past the meat department when something caught my eye. As I walked past this display, I felt as if the things were staring at me!!! Here's a pic....decide for yourself.... Well, that did it for me....they were telling me to go trout fishing tonight!! I swear...I heard them say it!!! Anyhow, bly is tying some roe bags as I type this....I'll put the little one to bed, and then we'll head to a trib somewhere..... Hopefully we'll have something to report later.

Bly and I have been looking at boats to buy...and had a few questions regarding winterizing. 1) What do you have to do to the boat? 2) What prep work needs to be done to the motor? 3) How much would you approximate that it would all cost? Example....14 foot aluminum boat, with a 15 to 20 HP motor. Would store the motor inside during the winter. The boat would likely be stored outside somewhere. Thanks everyone....getting excited to buy one....have a few we are looking at now.
-
Great find!! I love old photographs....these were pretty cool to see. I noticed that none of the boats had motors....how archaic is that?? LOL. Maybe I just need a rowboat...back to the classified ads...hehe.

I haven't done a lot of trolling, but I also prefer to hold onto the rod....with the line lightly resting on my finger. When using inline planers though it gets a little hard to do that for any length of time. I also hold onto the rod when I carp fish. I like to feel when the fish takes hold of the bait. For me, it doesn't really feel like fishing if I'm not holding on to it??? Does that make sense? That being said though, I'll troll with rod holders and use downriggers any chance I get if it means I get off the shorelines....LOL.

It's the exchange rate....this was a US story....LOL

Tiny Tot Reels In Massive Muskie
10/11/2007

EAU CLAIRE, WI (NBC) -- A Wisconsin toddler has a whopper of a fish tale to tell. Nicolas Phillips recently reeled in a 42-inch muskie.

His parents say that fishing is one of the few things that will calm down the rambunctious 3-year-old.

"He doesn't get bored until around two hours go by," said Kelly Phillips, Nicolas' mom.

In the final minutes of a father-son fishing trip this weekend, Nicolas pulled in a catch worthy of any angler.

"I catched a big one!" Nicolas said, arms up showing just how big.

It was a 42-inch, 20-pound monster of a muskie, caught on the same pole the tireless tot now casts into branches in his backyard.

"He said 'Dad, I have a fish,'" said Nicolas' dad Wesley Phillips. "I could see the bobber next to the boat, and I waited for him to pull in the little fish. Then, I looked down and it was a big muskie."

Wesley wasn't really ready to reel in a fish the same size as his son.

The pole he was using was small, and was sporting a six pound test line.

Lucky for the father-son team, some nearby boaters lent them a hand and a net.

Nicolas knows where his muskie is headed.

"It's dead, we're gonna put it on the wall in our house," Nicolas said.

NBC

LOL...who would have figured? A fishing obsession...haha. I think we have all been there before....in order for us to avoid crowds at a favourite trib mouth, bly and I have dawned chest waders and walked out thru water to a sand bar, where we put our gear down, walk another 50 feet into the water and then cast 50 yards past everyone else standing on the shore. We've even brought our fold up chairs there to do some bottom fishing...hehe.
