Can anyone recommend a good clean but very affordable hotel or motel in Sudbury for Fri night and Tobermory area for Sat night. I'm not looking for google responses but places you know of or have stayed at. Also, any advice on taking the Family to the Big Nickel and the Chi-Cheemaun / Tobermory touristy things. Thanks, Entorpy

Great Thread! "Out For A Rip"

Does it make a difference if you try to fill it when the bow is significantly higher than the stern, and vice-versa? My old boat and my friends boat both will take more gas depending on boat 'levelness'. In both situations you end up with the tank that is empty higher than the fill and vent tubes. Try filling it with the bow cranked up on the trailer, and the bow right down on the trailer. I'm willing to bet one will work for you, unless I have totally misunderstood this case. Entropy

It seems like all the places I have called sends their props out to have the hubs done. Anyone know where they get sent to? I'm looking at a week to have my prop re-hub'd, I wouldn't mind driving there, and hanging out while it gets done. Any Idea? Entropy

4x4 and a cinder block are the fastest way to jack any trailer, then block it in a safe location.

15 hp Evinrude, hub slipage? Need some insight.
Entropy replied to Entropy's topic in General Discussion
New prop is $120 plus tax, and having it re-hub'd is $50 or $60. It is not my motor, but mine to use (as long as it runs) for the summer. It needed a fuel line, that has already cost $50. I'm thinking a re-hub might be in order, since I still have not proven the motor to be reliable. I think I only have 15 min on it over 3 trials, back and forth in front of the dock. Anyone know Andrew's phone number at the Prop Drop in Lindsay? Thanks, Entropy -

Trying to put a YouTube video I found of this happening, but it will not post. -
I just picked up an older 15 hp Evinrude. I have made about 10 runs up and down the lake with it yesterday, and today I put the young ones in for an evening ride and we picked up a few weeds, backed them off, then planned for a bit, then it felt and sounded like the prop came off. The prop is still there, but now before it begins to planes it revs up like the prop shaft is spinning like mad but the prop is not keeping up. Motor is on a 14 ft aluminum. Any Ideas? model: E15RCSD The below is not my video, but it does the same thing. Thanks, Entropy

I heard about the prison break, where they used a helicopter to get the prisoners out. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/quebec-prison-break-massive-manhunt-underway-for-3-inmates-who-fled-in-helicopter-1.1858472 It got me to thinking. What is to stop someone from flying a quadra-copter into a prison yard and drop a few ‘tools’ off to a select few inmates. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eibyRBcmLvc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2lj4mEaMdM&index=130&list=PLr6ILQvWUgT0Y56v1XydzvEk1NV1BnPz9 Is it legal to possess something like this in Canada? (USA?) What about use in Canada? (USA?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNPJMk2fgJU What about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itdwWvAnNx4 Get's ya thinking what the world will be like, eh. I have Cable Cable internet, tower-to-tower service. Love the price, the company, and the fact that when you call at 10pm on a Sat, they call you back in min. I wish they had a basic TV service through the tower too. Might end up using their phone. Let us know how it works out. Entropy

a rat trap with peanut butter works good too.

Toro PT 21 with bag, and a stihl FS90. You will not be upset, well maybe by the cost, but not about performance or ease of getting parts when you need them. Both should last you 20 years. Entropy

Just make sure you buy from a place with a dedicated pump for the e-free high test gas. I once made the mistake of using one of those pumps where you select the grade of gas you want, I was just filling my 5L lawn mower can, but I would think that the gas lines from the pump to the nozzle would hold 2 to 3 litres of fuel. I figure I got 3 litres of regular and only 2 litres of high test. Hey at least the next guy got a little bit of good gas., eh. I guess if you are filling a large can or built-in tank in a boat it wouldn't matter as much. Entropy

I've got a problem. My wife is going camping for her annual girls weekend. I want to make sure it is not during the Goose or Duck opener, so need to find those dates out asap. Anyone know where or when the seasons are posted for the 2014 season? One year I was trapped at home with the kids as the sky lit up first thing in the morning. That sucked, hope to avoid it. Thanks, Entropy

A good laugh, bit annoying though.

I keep a copy in each vehicle and one on the back of the toilet. When out touring around a map and a copy of the regs are invaluable. I don't have a smart phone and will put off getting one for as long as possible. Good point about no regs as an excuse. Valid one or not, I think being given a copy of the regs or at least making it available at point of sale is the way to go. No regs = no clue. Entropy

Got out with the kids this eve in a small tiny. Looked for some crappie. We found none, but we all had a good time, just getting out seeing the ducks, and the kids ate some of the ice that is 100 ft off-shore. Good times. We might try again tomorrow but with worms this time. Entropy

Yep, they have been at it for the last 3 days.

I will be putting a boat in tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply fish farmer. I agree 100%. I am a father of 2 young kids, wife works, and at the end of every month we are very lucky to have $300 to put towards car repairs, house maintenance, retirement, saving for a down payment on a newer car, furnace problems, etc. It won't take much for us to start operating in the 'red'. I am down to driving a 1.6 L 4 cyl car, and paddling a canoe, oh, and a 14 ft alm with electric motor. There is no money for fun, or toys anymore. We supposedly make ok money, but I too fear for my children's well being when they are faced with finding a good job or career in 15 to 20 years. As I sit here and type this I'm heating my house with scavenged firewood, and a 2 watt LED bulb. lol, let the good times roll !!! Entropy

She said that the fish populations are in decline, and that the Lake Scugog Stewards are encouraging the Ministry of Natural Resources to close the ice fishing season on Scugog. She said she doesn’t fish but that they think it needs to be done. I said I would like her to encourage the L.S. Stewards, to communicate to the MNR, that a catch and release winter fishery would be much more acceptable. It would still give people the freedom to get out fishing and enjoy winter. That is why people live here. She said that the MNR can’t enforce the fishing as it is and that by closing it in the winter it would make it ovious if someone is breaking the law, because there would be no ice huts or people fishing at all. She went on to say that anyone could go and kill a deer in the forests and no one would know the better. I just shook my head, no good logic to it. I would rather see a catch and release fishery all year than ban it at any point. Just a heads up. One of the Lake Scugog’s Stewards main objective is to close winter fishing on the lake. Entropy

Lindsay locks are the same. Went there to check for the run. Can't see much in the shallows, but there is lots of water gushing through. I did see a couple of people looking at the water on the down side of the lock, ..... Entropy

Fish Farmer. How do you figure a Big Crash is coming? Just out of curiosity, and perhaps to mitigate my own situation. What are the 'red flags' for you? Interested. Entropy
