thanks a bunch guys i really appreciate all this great advice none of my friends are big on fishing (although i try lol) and I dont have any family member who fishes either so I really dont have anyone to ask this stuff to but you guys are great!! I have been learning how to read water over the past few years and most of the tribs ive been steelheading I fish for bass in the summer so i know them quite well although its alot different this time of year. Dundassteelheader that would be amazing if someone could take me out and show me some pointers but i doubt that happening with all the pressure these fish see nobody wants to give up there spots, which is very understandable. I agree with you bill i saw a fish caught the other day that took to the air a few times it was pretty exciting to watch. Ill be out again friday and im hoping to get out a few days next week so hopfully i have a nice report for you guys lol Im also going to devote a little more time on the water to spinners as this is somthing im more familiar with. Thanks again guys, have a happy and safe holidays Mike

Hey yall, So ive decided to get into steelheading this year with some minor success. Ive been out roughly 10 times this fall and winter including the past four days and have spent hours researching steelhead online and have only managed to get into one fish but the fight lasted about 5 seconds and the hook came out lol. Ive been experimenting with plenty of techniques including drifting roe, worms, flies, and casting Vibrax spinners trying to fool one of these beautiful fish but I dont think im doing it right. Ive been experimenting with different lengths of line under the float and different shot patterns the past few days and still no success. I was talking to a guy down at the river the other day and he told me I was running too shallow and to move the float up about 18 inches, ( there was roughly 5 feet of line under the float). So he left and i moveed the float and continued to work the pool i was at, which ive seen plenty of nice chrome landed from. About 20 mins go by with nothing and another two guys are now fishing the pool with me, they cast out and boom first 10 feet of the drift hes into a nice male. After they caught a few more fish we chatted for abit about fishing and i asked one of them about my set-up and if it was correct. He told me i was running way to deep for the spot and to move my float down about 3 feet. So now im pretty confused here being very new to steelheading and being told two completely different set-ups to fish the exact same spot. The water was about 3-5 feet in depth and moving at a fair speed. So basically Im asking the big steelhead guys on the board, who have really inspired me to get out in search of winter chrome, how to determine roughly how much line to have below the float in certain depths of water. Im not asking for anybodys secret set up just a good way to judge how much line is needed in a certian depth of water. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated and i cannot wait to post a report of these magnificent fish. Thanks for reading Mike

Got out yesterday for a few hours to try nd catch some late season bass down at a local pond. Water level was the highest Ive seen it in years, (not sure why). Only managed to get this lil guy on a white jig. Im gonna try and get down there again Monday or Tuesday and will hopefully have more success.

Rent a U-haul and drive it out there?? That out you can hire a company to drive it out there in their own truck.

I would do it now, when I applied for mine I didn't get the card in the mail for about 8 months! they will still give you a piece of paper that serves as a temp card but its better to get the card asap. first day I went out fishing with the temp paper copy it got soaked lol I suggest keeping it in a zip-lock.

and i just added it to mine after seeing this report lol! Those are some monsters great job!!!

holy crap that didnt take long!!!!

the pens need som1 on there team who can "protect" crosby if any1 takes a run at him. I think they need to go out and get a guy like zack stornini or george parros who can "protect" the talent that Pittsburghs got or its matter of time before he goes down again.

i was thinking the same thing.... lol

Right with ya there buddy, theres no room for that crap in todays game. Im all for big hits but targeting guys in the head, especially guys like sidney and alfi, is doing nothing good for the nhl except keeping talented stars off the ice thus making hockey less exciting to watch. Inno the big boys like to hit but this head huntin stuffs gotta stop. that is a nice LEGAL hit from always controversial Chris Pronger

looks pretty solid!! if you dont mind me asking what is that coil holding the rod? Would it be somthing one could pick up at home depot etc. Ive been looking into making somthing like this as well but havent decided what will actually keep the rod in place. I had attempted to make one using some plastic tubing from an old hockey net and it was a little to wide to hold the rod nice and snug. Thanks Mike

anyone else excited for the return of the kid? inno I am :worthy:

admitting you took a pic of an OOS fish on this forum isnt a good idea from what ive seen lol just sayin, monster fish though

im just glad to see som1 other than jimmie johnson take it, woulda been nice to see carl win it as he's never won before but tony defiantly earned it after what he did in the chase
-
Thanks Ainsley, Im defiantly going to have to check them out!

Sounds like a go then! lol I cant wait to get some different size floats and some hard to find berkley baits. My local outdoor store, bronte outdoors, packed up shop and moved to missisauga so im stuck browsing crappy tires and wal-marts joke of a fishing section

Hey guys, Does anyone know where there is shore access to the Niagara river? Im not looking for anybodys "spot" just a way to get down there, preferably on north stretch of the river. Ive heard there is a set of stairs that takes you right down there but Ive never found out exactly where it is. Has anybody else heard of these stairs? Mike

Hey guys, I recently bought a few cds off of amazon and saw they have a pretty huge selection of fishing equipment ranging from lures and baits to rods and reels. I was thinking of placing an order but thought Id see if any1 here has had any bad experiences with buying fishing stuff from them. Just thought Id get some advice before I buy anything as Im new to the whole online shopping thing. Thanks guys Mike

after such a strong start too what happened? I still think they can make the playoffs if they stay healthy and brady keeps throwin 2-3 ints a game
-
Thanks thats really all I wanted to know, if there are any upcoming projects taking place on this river I would be more than willing to volunteer.

I never said the stream has spectacular fishing, it doesnt its been a dumping ground for construction companies for the past 3 years. The only reason I mentioned the name was to see if any stream restoration was taking place. I figured with guys in the craa in this discussion maybe they would know. I do apologize though i know naming spots/bodies of water in this forum is a touchy subject.
