  1. I had zero clue Stoty was guiding so his efforts to promote his service can't have been that obvious or spam-like. Personally I'd allow him to provide some pic's and details before the thrashing ensues.
  2. Bill Rivers knows his stuff that's for sure. I had a quick look at his list and he has Miminiska on it. That's another really great one. I stopped at Miminiska lodge when I was paddling the Albany. Was hoping to restock my supplies (it was a 3 month trip) and they helped me with a bunch of stuff. I remember thinking the next fly in would be to this lodge as it was very impressive. Fantastic piece of water as well, just incredible fishing for all species including brook trout. I caught several monsters in the rapids and falls upstream from Miminiska lake.
  3. Who cares? I'm amazed anyone would complain about this.
  4. What? That's nothing more than a Mann's Little George with different eyes!
  5. Doesn't make much of a difference since buyers are protected pretty well on ebay. There's not much of a risk.
  6. Yeah but who's holding the blank behind the reel anyway? The split rear grip seems pointless to me other than for aesthetic reasons. The little bit of cork you're eliminating weighs virtually nothing so it's not a weight issue.
  7. Sell your motor privately. I sold 2 on Kijiji last summer with no problem. You'll never get the same price on a tade in. I bought an outoard at Hastings marine and they were offered me $1000 less for a trade in on my current motor than I made selling it privately.
  8. Butt caps for freshwater rods are pretty much standard in diameter. There's a place in Midland that sells components, Backwater Tackle (I think?). Angling Specialties on hwy.7 just south of Bass Pro would be another source. Of course there's countless online sources for rod components as well. Google is your friend.
  9. Those pike were vicious weren't they? Easy fix Doug. Buy a $2 butt cap and measure it against the end of your rod. Carefully cut away the cork with a razor blade and clean it off the end of the blank. Tape up the exposed bit of rod blank with masking tape and glue the new butt cap on. Sand the cork so it's as even as possible with the new butt cap. If there's any gaps take some of the cork dust, mix it with a bit of white glue, fill in the cracks and sand. (Or just do what I'd do and buy a new more expensive rod. )
  10. I'll give you this much, you're persistant.
  11. That's a great idea let's make it happen. Thanks again Michael, much appreciated.
  12. C'est la vie. Thanks for looking Doug!
  13. That's the way to do it! Those units do work great but not with the stock pump that's for sure. Seeing as how Terry has a stake in it.... a hot shower would be sweet on your fly in no?
  14. Sounds good Michael, thank you! I'll take all the #11's just to make it easy. BillM should be able to grab them. Check your pm's
  15. Great read Simon, and congrat's on a fantastic day of fishing! Methinks though that it's entirely possible (maybe even probable) that the suspended fish you were catch were suspending laterally from the first major shelf off the island. I'll bet that if you were catching your fish in 20' of water over 40 plus feet, the shelf extending out from the island before quickly dropping off is likely 20'. Pure speculation on my part but lateral suspension is a very common pattern year round.
  16. Thanks for the offer Michael. Don't want you to go out of your way, but if you do get the chance I'm primarily looking for #11's in the Purpledescent colour, but any #11's would do! (You will be my new best friend if you come through. ) Cheers
  17. But....but....I was the one who was looking for them. Betcha I'm single handedly responsible for Rapala reinstating the Minnow Rap in the Canadian market.
  18. I love the description of how your Thurs departure morphed into a Monday departure. I do the same damn thing pretty much every trip LOL! Fantastic report although It was mostly a blur after the shot of Lloyds big fish. Wow! (The epitomy of cool: eating a cup of noodles while fighting the fish of a lifetime ) Final note you should always ask around before you take the plunge. I bought one of those Zodi heaters 5 years ago for my camp. It was a temporary fix 'till I built the bathroom. Even upgraded the bilge to a much larger one. It hasn't been used since. You'd have been more than welcome to it.
  19. I figured as much. Oh great now there's going to be a mad rush on Epps. You know you could've pm'd me.
