Last weekend i bought a 12 foot princecraft ungava. It's a fairly wide and deep boat, just wondering if it will be suitable for great lakes fishing? (erie smallies, boq walleye). Or should i not do it. It is a deep and wide boat. Thanks in advance

I never use backing on my braid and have found that after a while it gets messed up. For example the braid just pulls off the spool without any drag being used, also I cast out and find that i cannot reel in my bait and have to pull it in by hand. I'm pretty sure that it is because the braid isnt on tight on enough. Now onto my question, what kind of line do you use for backing? I heard from a buddy of mine that if you put some electrical tape or hockey tape on the spool before you tie the braid on and spool your reel it helps, can anyone else say the same? agreed, had this happen to me a few times gets me angry how people who "enjoy" fishing so much wont make the effort to do the homework and bushwacking to find their own spots gets me fuming!

when did you try? I was there today and got skunked, I think the rain and cooler temperature probably had something to do with it.

I am doing some research on some spots but google is running dry as to fish species in the waterbodies i am looking at. I remember someone posting a website a while back, I believe it was run by the MNR. On the website it had a map with all the lakes in Ontario and when you click on it, it shows you the fish species. Just wondering if anyone knows it if they can post it up for me. Thanks in Advance Bassmaster4

I was talking to a guy in a tackle shop yesterday about it. that link is to the blue ice report on feb 1. He said that the ice should still be good. In that video it ranges from 9-10 inches. He also said that parking is tough never been there for myself but was thinking about heading out tomorrow as well. I think you park on the road there from what i heard. sad to hear buddy. hope peanut gets well soon. Just last week had a sheperd run at my car almost smashed it owners just sitting on the porch dogs not on a leash in a residential area obviously something was wrong with it that thing looked vicious.

since this thread came up might as well just ask it here instead of starting another. anyone have any experience with the fish tv 7 camera looking to pick one up but wanna know what people think about it?
