  1. I am installing a new HB 858hd di combo and am a little vague on the installation of the GPS puck. I am wondering what the split wire pigtail is for (3 wire black-white-green, with a cap on it). There is very little information about it and really not sure what it's for.
  2. I too remember that storm. We have a place just NE of Haliburton on Moose Lake. As a sledder I was in heaven... But a week later I was crying when we got 30mm of rain and +5 temps.
  3. Trebleys Tacklebox in Orillia has a great rob in their clearance area. Fenwich HMG AV. When I bought mine several years ago when they first came out, the rod was about $250. Think they are selling them for $80 or something. As for the first fish, they can be tough.... especially from shore... and especially in the late fall. Keep at it, but I think the your chances will be better in the spring or floating a large live bait rig now.
  4. Rich, how did the weeds look on Wolseley? I have found this time of year that most of the fish up there relate to rock or current this time of year. I have seen fish the cabbage, but non that are aggressive eaters. If there is weed on a rock spot, that is a good sign. I also know that spot where you caught that decent pike. The muskie I have got out of there have all come from the outside of that shoal and around that point that goes into that deep channel between the islands. Gallie, Look for pebbled shore lines, and the most diverse structure possible. Everything on the French looks like it should hold muskies, but you really have to pick your spots. Areas that have alot of walleye fisherman on them tend to always hold muskies too... so if you see that, fish it. Shoals, relatively shallow points that project into deep water, sand flats with bowlders and light current areas will be your most productive spots. I will be at Wolseley tomorrow night... 5. I have contemplated putting on a jackplate myself. I have questions.... Is there a clear defined "inteded usage" listed in the warranty? Main motor, kicker, transducers? I can see how any or all, if not properly installed, or come in contact with something can cause a failure. Would the warranty be applicable? Probably not. I have been under the impression, that if the max hang weight of the transom is not exceeded, then the warranty would not be voided. Not that I think about tranfered moment forces, I can see the argument. Might be something to inquire through a dealer.
  6. Yes, that and laying a muskie on your carpet is pretty bad for the fish. Pulls their slim right off. Nice fish though. Looks like they are eating up there.
  7. I should be up there this weekend. Hope Wolseley wakes up.
  8. Good idea Landry. I use both open and section large planos like the others. One thing I do try, is to keep "like colours" together. I have had dark baits bleed their colours onto lighter baits.
  9. Most of the lodges close their doors after the second week in october. I fish the first week of Oct almost every year and it is not uncommon to see -5 over night temps. Fishing can be good. But can be terible too.
  10. If anyone is looking to get rid of a original handle for the 400TE, let me know.
  11. I may be heading up mid week; maybe even the weekend.... All depends on my shipements this week.
  12. Got it figured out. The anti reverse pawl was got engaged on the AR gear and flicking the teeth as it ran by. Thanks.
  13. I service my reels a few times a season. Open, clean, grease and oil... regular maintenace. I have had this reel open at least 5 times; but the reel has a tick and pulsation that it has never had before. Upon opening the reel again after discovering the tick and pulse, it appears that the hammer looking component with the pointed head freely rotates and is able to work its way under and rub on the bail engage (dog eared) gear under the main gear. Pic included Anyone have this issue before and or know how to fix it? I have played with is quite a bit and getting frusterated as I end with the same result each time.
  14. What is the water level like? Can you inquire from the lodge owner how it is this season.
  15. Another supporter of 80# or better. I see a lot of you guys run powerpro. I however have a serious dislike for it. A little tougher to find, but I use P-Line Spectrex. Almost zero fade, zero fray, and zero line bleed. Plus it seems much quieter running through the guides.
  16. Hes talking Hartly bay side of hwy69
  17. I have several TEs... simply the best reels made. JBs is the place to get everything too. I have a question about the Saltys... are they all clamp ons or are they different mounting configurations? I have a Lund with the Protrack top rail about 5" wide and the clamp does not look like it would work for me. Anyone have pic of their Saltys mounted?
  18. I hope to be up in the area 2nd week of Sept as well... havent confirmed anything yet. Does anyone have any water level info? Last year it was LOOOOOOW. I can just image this year.
  19. I havent stayed their in a few years, but the fishing was great. My avator is the cabin we stayed in... beauty location. Right in the middle of everything. And good fishing right off the dock.
  20. Wow, great fish. What area was that pulled from? Not asking for the lake.
  21. Awesome.... I love LOTW. Last time I was there though , in mid August it went from 25*c to 5*C for what the locals where calling the worst cold front they had ever seen. Man do I want to go back. Have an great trip.
  22. I was on the ontario topo site (cant find the link now) and pieced this together with screen shots a few years ago. Goes from Wolseley Bay right to Chardier
  23. Lund is a top notch. I have owned several and fished out of them for the last 15years. I currently own 2 Lunds. A 2006 Lund Outfitter 1750ss (which I have for sale) and a 2011 Lund Predator 2010. I love them both, but cannot keep them both.
  24. I had few 13" MAG Shads. They run awesome, but no fish yet. I got smashed last year and I had a huge follow twitching one over a deep rock pile... But no fish in the boat yet.
  25. I have had good luck with some my HMG AV stuff. It is one of their higher end muskie rods though. They have seen a ton of fish... But these rods are several years old now. Not a complaint out of my St.Croix stuff.
