  1. The pike in the Moon have been in deep water, and are just now starting to come out to play, and as the water cools, they'll get busier. The bass fishing has been good! If you decide on that area, for lodging, you can call call George Grisdale at 705-375-2495, or Woods Bay Lodge at 705-375-5395.
  2. Thank you Cudz, but I can assure you that Cat has forgotten more than I know about firearms. Great to see him on here!
  3. Fish at Hawkesbury, and say hi to everyone for me!
  4. No question it's a great time of year. The coffee in the boat tastes better on those cool mornings, the leaves will change colours soon, and it's quiet.... And the fish are hungry!
  5. Usually the second week of November we we shut down the cottage.
  6. Jk on the lamp thing.... It would be nice to see the gun in person: it was a little surprised (disappointed?) by the lack of proofs
  7. It's a nice gun, and deserves a little better than to be made into a lamp, lol Throw a cleaning rod down the bore with some hoppe's or equivilant on it and see how it looks...
  8. Cudz, are there any proof marks on the barrel? That'll help.
  9. So, please tell us about the hook! Great fish, btw....
  10. As long as the lower unit was left intact, at least it has a chance to become funny.....
  11. Out of habit, and the fact that it's so peaceful, I always try to get out at first light. Given the choice between dawn and dusk, though, I would take dusk every time. Like the others have said, you can get good fish pretty much any time of the day, even on bluebird days....
  12. For Brian; maybe a break from the heavy lifting you're doing lifting these days....
  13. I caught my first rock bass 50 years ago this summer up in Kiosk. My first pike and walleye, except they were pickerel then in 1966 on Lake of the Woods. As a kid, I used to read every page of Outdoor Life, and Field and Stream: I just couldn't get enough of hunting and fishing! There was a number of years I didn't fish as rapidly, but these days I take a 3 or 4 day weekend evey two weeks, and fish pretty much all day. I'm no expert, but I'm very comfy working jerk baits under any conditions.
  14. I'm all over sharing my favourite tunes, and that's one of my favourite SG tunes.....
  15. Pulling for you and your whole family all through this, Wayne.
  16. I have a brother who has lived in Ft. McMurray since '73. With the outdoors-friendly attitude, he took our family's sport (shooting) to a whole new level. He carries a huge inventory of firearms. Those guys out their love their toys, as you mentioned, Craig, and for the guys who live near a range, the target-oriented shooters have a pretty long season.
  17. Second prize is 8 tickets?
  18. Mike, just saw this. You're a prince, and in the tiny speck of a business that is the muskie industry, it's the sort of thing that'll keep you going. Thanks!
  19. The Edmonton store makes sense, from a populous point of view, and I guess Saskatoon itself services maybe 400,000 people or so. I'm surprised they're opening there as well. Their studies must have indicated that everyone in town hunts and fishes! I haven't been inside a Cabela's store but would LOVE to have another good store in the GTA.
  20. It tears you up, sorry for the pun. My good Lab Shane, many years ago, and even my cat KC, it's just so tough. Sorry for your loss, Wayne, genuinely. Chris
  21. Saturday Night Oldies, I guess. David Wiffen was a largely unheralded genius who grew up in Ottawa. This song was covered by the Byrds, The Black Crowes, Tom Rush, Cowboy Junkies, and more...
  22. Taken just around back of Francis Island , for those of you who know that neck of the woods... and the cropped version.... I don't know which is the better of the two... Opinions, photography gurus?
  23. Roy, this tune was about 6 or 7 years later, but next to "My Boy Lollypop" (!?) in 1964, was the first Caribbean. (ska) tune ever to be #1 on a North American chart, two weeks in June 1n 1969. As a youngster, it was years before I realized what I was listening to...
  24. @ Spiel: I sure do!! there was lots of good music in 1970..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK_fW1LTfHU
