  1. Unbelievable! I won't ask what Jacques catches when he goes ice fishing!!
  2. Sorry I can't reply as far as walleye are concerned, Behnam, but the 4" fire tiger kickin' minnow was great for bass and especially pike all summer. I'm going to get one of the larger versions for the fall season. They're pretty reasonably priced, too.
  3. Back when I smoked cigars regularly, my neighbour introduced me to Correnti. Go to his shop off King St., and you won't be able to tell you're not in Cuba. He rolls the some of the best cigars I've ever smoked, for a lot less than Cohibas. I love going to that place.....
  4. Last weekend was great for me too. I like to think it makes a difference. I'll be out next weekend as well, underthe new moon. Some claim it's an even bigger help...... The one thing the full/new moon does is boost my attitude.I get pretty enthused if the phase is thought to be favourable.
  5. lots of water, always a windproof/waterproof jacket, certainly a phone, and a variety of tools are always in the boat.
  6. Just about to change mine, but it's a picture I like from last August of a nice smallie I got after I decided to stay up Sunday and drive down the Monday morning. My favourite time is Sunday evening when things quiet down and the boat traffic disappears.
  7. Hi F-M: Brifishrgy's suggestion of the the thin sheet of plywood makes sense. I would consider sealing the ply sheet with marine spar varnish though, as it will be kept wet by the water absorbed by the carpet when fishing. I think a thin sheet, like a 1/4" would be at risk of rot over time... Good luck with it, I'm sure it'll be great.
  8. I fish when I can fish, but for sure I get keen when the moon is right and i know I'll be on the water.... (this weekend!!!!). I'll also be on the water for moonrise and set, if possible. As others have said though, it's only one factor. The weather plays a bigger role, IMO.
  9. The early bird gets the bass! WTG, that thing was a beuaty!!
  10. Before I got back into fishing, one of the things I used to do was play tennis down at the Old Mill club, right next to the Humber. Guys used to haul some pretty big salmon in from right behind the courts, which are north of Bloor.
  11. Bernie, that boat looks to be really well constructed; good luck with the resto, I'm sure it'll look great!
  12. Pictures speak a thousand words, which is about as long as that one sentence! Sounds like a blast, looking forward to you posting the photos.....
  13. Are you kidding? My dentist, a good buddy of mine, is from Glasgow. He's been here 20 years, and still can't speak a word of English!
  14. One thing about Lou's is that he has all those vintage reels and such; pretty fun to go through the collection and see how many you recognize......
  15. Wayne, those pictures are beautiful! Sorry for your loss, but your Mom looked liked she was having a great time fishing with you.
  16. Couldn't agree more, one of the most beautiful fish in existance. Reminds me of when I was really little, about 6 or so, when my dad used to take me to Glen Haffey to fish for specs. They were smaller than these ones
  17. I hear you, John; that said, I use a leader or snap alot of the time if I'm fishing cranks or jerkbaits, because I change baits often until I feel I've figured out what's working, and I hate re-tying. Also, there are always pike where I fish, so the leader is pretty much a must. I tie direct to the lure for topwater, where it doesn't make any difference to the action.
  18. I've loooked at it; my fishing buddy is looking for a new boat. The storage is really well-thought out. Really nice boat.....
  19. Palomar every time.
  20. I'm in mid-town t dot, and the sky is green! Wicked rain and wind.
  21. Basspro is great, being a destination unto itself, but I really like LeBarons a lot, and though I've never been, I've heard some people rave about Gagnons in Oshawa. I'm kind of relieved that no one has picked Dollarama Outfitters yet!
  22. Great work, guys. Fun to haul those in at all, but topwater would be the icing on the cake!
  23. Nice muskie rig. Wonder how it behaves on the trailer?
  24. Hey Steve, looks like the missus carried you the whole way!?
