  1. This week in most of Ontario, it wasn' that much cooler than down in Mobile, FINALLY!
  2. If had already released several legal fish, that probably means I could catch more if I wamted to. I'd release a six pounder every time, but make sure photos were taken first!
  3. If you don't want to buck up for the President, I use a Pflueger Trion, which is not as sweet as a President, but very nice indeed, and has treated me well.
  4. I use lefty baitcasters for exactly the reasons you mention. After reeling spinning gear with my left hand for all my life, I didn't want to change when I moved to baitcasters, and it all works well. John's advice is good. Start with mono, then move to braid, or flouro, if you like. It'll make the transition easier, jd.
  5. Happy Wife, Happy Life. You might consider investing some money in her, especially if it's going to help you guys do something together.

    TGIF!

I'd love to be heading up this weekend, but so such luck I'm at least working from home, though, so it'll be a somewhat shortened day.
  7. for the longest time, a purple worm was my best bait. Now it's a Gulp Alive 5"inch leech, fished very slowly.
  8. Same as the other guys: I did it in the master bathroom, shouldn't be a problem. In fact, one morning I walked into the bathroom to find my little guy fast asleep, curled up on the bath mat after taking a leak at some time during the night!
  9. sweet day to be out, guys, one of the nicest days so far this summer!
  10. I use a Berkley electric one, most of the time. If a stone is within reach, I'll use that too, but not as often.
  11. I was up in GBay this weekend, and the weather seemed to change every hour. We went out for a bit last night, in total calm, rare for there, but before another storm, of course. My pal's boat is aluminum, which had no small bearing on that fact that when the thunder got close, we bailed for the cottage, driving close to shore when we could. My brother-in-law had a friend struck by lightning in a tin boat many years ago, apparently, there wasn't much left of him or the boat.
  12. Good luck to all, I'm leaving for the Bay in a few hours, and hoping for some luck on the back of Wednesday's full moon, and a report as well! Who else is fishing this weekend; where are you headed? Backbay
  13. Atta be, you guys!
  14. I have a Heddon Dowagiac Vamp that was my dad's that I throw every now and again for good luck. Sorry, no pics, my camera and tackle are up north, but it looks like this: I don't have the box though!
  15. I love what you've done with the place!
  16. Un vrai cuchon dans le vid, biens-faites, les gars! The photos are all great, but this..... is a thing of beauty
  17. Fillets are rinsed in cold water and patted dry, dipped in beaten egg and rolled in Progresso Italian Flavor bread crumbs, then fried golden brown in very hot peanut oil.... served with seafood cocktail sauce on the side!!! Thanks for sharing, GCD, I'll give it a whirlnext weekend
  18. Those looks REAL good fried up, GCD, what seasoning do you use?
  19. If I were to offer any advice, it would be to make sure your ride is fully checked out before you leave, (I lost my transmission when moving back from Sask.), and to make sure you take your time from the Lakehead, and over to Lake of the Woods. Way to much fishing to do! You're going to have a great trip!
  20. Welcome, Canucker! I know the area a little bit: Do you fish both above and below the dam?
  21. You have to try it once if you want to learn about cigars. Not the cheapest, but the best quality you can buy, a match for any of the big names. Senor Correnti is worth a visit, I assure you.
  22. If your guy wants a treat, see this guy. Cuban tobacco, choice of wrappers, rolled at the shop by nice Cuban ladies. A really unique place to visit. http://www.correnticigars.com/contact.php Otherwise, I would look for Macanudo HAmpton Courts, which are very nice, not Cuban, but won't break the bank, either, and are sold in tubes that keep them fresh. Or, try Yitz's, just west of Avenue Rd. on Eglington. Bis selection, reasonably priced. Hope that helps!
  23. TJ, I work downtown and will take at walk at lunch, or afterwork. The place you refer to might have been just west of Bay, on Wellesley, perhaps? I can't remember the name.... For the record, my favourite place is Sushi D. It's on College, in Little Italy, has amazing white tuna, and an all-you-can-eat deal for $20 during the week.
  24. Congrats, love the action shots!
  25. I do alot of my fishing in that area, Cast-Away, and the weather has been tough enough, but nothing seems to be as it should. Alot of the areas that usually held fish still had brown weeds a few weeks ago, and the water is way cooler than normal. Like the summer, I'm hoping for better late than never for the fishing!.
