  1. Good Luck to Emilio, pictures on your return, please.
  2. Nice shootin there, Mr. Parker. Good for you. Funny right there, Glen - number the feathers.
  3. MJL, that was a clinic, and I'm still at home! Great info, and nice baits. Thanks.
  4. I guess I was saying that if you wear red white or blue, you might just get your paw shot. Now there's another tale....
  5. The way we do it is, You go see, and then tell us how you made out. Skunk reports are ok too, maybe I learn more from them than the 'Sleighed Em' reports. The puns are downhill from here on.
  6. Gal, you won't get any sympathy from this camp if you don't catch fish, happens to many very often. Just go and try, feel the sun and listen to the birds, and then start to think about where the fish might be, and what they are eating. Give then something that looks like that with a hook in it, and Boy Howdy! That's all there is too it, it's really very simple. The successful folks just try and try all the time, and learn while they do it. No quick tips, secret lures or spots, just experience and intuition. Pick a species, figger out where they are, and what's on the menu, and go get em. The instructions are simple, but actually doing it is where the fun is. I would read the board, looking for things like Orillia perch. How about Barrie Marina? l I hope I catch a lake trout next weekend, but I might not.
  7. Youse guys are JUST SO CUTE! No one is going to recommend cheap siht, so get over that whole thing. On the other hand, most folks do very well with Craftsman, no need for the SnapOn. Are we done with this? Can we agree that the real question is how to get them and keep them sharp? Anyone use paperwheels?
  8. Don't forget to wear your special lucky Canadiens Hockey Sox! My neighbour's uncle wore his lucky socks while turkey hunting once, pulled up his pantleg to scratch his knee. Now, they call him The Guy with a Wooden Leg Named Frank. He doesn't have a name for his other leg.
  9. As the French say, Chacun a son gout, which means Sore Big Toes for Everybody. Pretty sure about that.
  10. Same for me, YellowBoat, five nights on Opeongo, chasin dem lakers. Where are you going? You might be able to drop in for a smart cocktail.
  11. I bought my house thru a private sale - that 3% commission is a lot of money. It paid for a new roof and appliances. There were no issues that arose and it worked out well.
  12. Two tips, both equally important. 1). Get a good knife, expect to spend more than 6.99. The better the knife, the more fun you will have. Good steel is harder to sharpen, but a good edge is more durable, and you can put a finer edge on it. Softer steel is not worth the short time it takes to sharpen it, imo. 2). Take a few years to learn how to put a good double bevel edge with consistent angles and a fine finish on good steel by investing in good sharpening tools. I think it's an art to have a razor sharp knife, and a necessity too. You can also read here.
  13. Check Nemo's post, about 5 hours ago. That explains the bump.
  14. Now yer talkin, Emil, good idea. Sry, but I don't have a vhf radio for you, but I expect someone will step up.
  15. Generally not a good idea from a device isolation idea, Lew. If one device draws current in bursts rather than a steady continuous flow, the voltage drop from the bus bar back to the negative battery terminal will be superimposed on the other two devices and appear as noise on the battery terminals. You can minimize this by moving the bus bar as close as possible to the battery (ideally, in the extreme, right to the neg terminal and getting rid of the bus bar altogether) or by using a large gauge wire, say 10 or 12 ga. If the current draw from all of your devices is steady, then you won't have a problem, but I think that the sonar pings will show up as current pulses from your battery.
  16. Thanks for another great report, Glen. I appreciate the detail - who says nobody cares what you had for lunch? Any day fishing is a great day.
  17. I like that Brian, class stuff from the Blowes family. Best to you.
  18. 'Checking SWR' means checking your antenna connections - take em apart, all the way from your transmitter connection to the antenna, inspect for anything that looks odd, and try again. SWR is short for VSWR, Voltage Standing Wave Ratio, and is a measure of how much of your transmitter power is being reflected back from your antenna, or some other spot in the transmission path, back to your transmitter. Most transmitters don't like this, sorta like constipation, and the 'puk puk puk' might be the circuitry grunting, and trying again. Sry if that comparison was a little too good. I need more fiber in my diet.
  19. I agree that driving style has a huge impact on milage. As for me, I love feeling that great little engine come on the cam around 3500 rpm, that's why I got the five speed.
  20. If you are going to cook the stuffing outside the bird, add some drippings to the pan as the bird cooks. This will pump up the flavour (and the calories) of the stuffing.
  21. Most of my rods are Quantums, 2 are PTs, nice gear.
  22. The Macallen, twelve, fifteen or older even, is something special. Almost the same age as the young Parker.
  23. Mazda3 with the 2.3l four does me 9l / 100 km, driving it 70 % highway, 30 % city.
  24. Happy Birthday, Parker, best wishes too.
