I have the same boat as Walleyedreamer only the 165 version and it`s a nice rig and ditto on the Lund thing my Alumacraft was delivered in perfect condition.LOL Since your on a budget rigs like this will probably be out of reach they can easily run 20-30 grand. And for the record if your wife is going to be fishing with you and it sounds like she will be the single console might not be a good idea, one morning of whipping down the lake in the spring or fall and she will have some choice words for you if she can get her frozen face to work. You should be able to get yourself into a good used rig for 3-5 thousand if you look hard enough.

I see a lot of small rigs being towed with the motors in place,if the transom is in good shape I can`t see it being a problem. -
Bow mount trolling motor: hand or foot control
lookinforwalleye replied to krawler's topic in General Discussion
I am off to BPS on Wednesday to get me a MK Power Drive with a foot control. I like to have 2 hands available when on the rare ocassion I have a fish on, I see it as a disadvantage to have to take a hand off the rod to control the motor plus I`am the type that likes to slooooow troll for eyes once in the while and I like to do it from the back of the boat and the long cable on the Minn Kota allows me to do that. It would be nice if BPS would start dropping prices to match the exchange rate. -
Fishingguy you could always get to Simcoe early and get the good spot before the blast off! LOL

Judging by the number of guys in bass boats I saw on Scugog this weekend pitching and flipping the weeds I almost thought bass season was open, apparenlty the regs are ignored by many!

I am glad you asked the question my rig wouldn`t start on Saturday and there was some oxidation on my battery cable, apparently it forms when a connection is not tight enough I am sure one of the experts here will have a remedy.

Has to be one of those genetically engineered hatchery fish. -
I believe it was 1979 too many men on the ice,Guy Lafleur scored the tying goal on the power play and eventually won the game in overtime of game 7 and if memory serves it was the semi final in Montreal.

I thought we were talking about a larger motor here and not a 10 HP toy just pull the cord to start and get a dual purpose starting/deep cycle for everything else.

A lot of people here must think a post count means something since most had the totals carried over from the old board I didn`t bother having my post count added because I don`t care about post counts. I prefer not to judge someone by their posting totals the content of their posts is what`s more important.

Most people have their electronics, bilge, lights etc. running off the cranking battery the alternator in your outboard will keep it charged. You should buy a deep cycle battery for your trolling motor I use a Bass Pro Shop brand and so far good I think it`s a 27 series just remember to re-charge it after each use this will prolong it`s life. I don`t about your cranking battery it is a automotive battery and I am sure marine batteries are designed for marine use. If you opt for the one battery option you better make sure it`s in tip top shape nothing worse than running your fishfinder and trolling motor all day and then go and try to start your motor and you have no juice. Personally I like have 2 or 3 batteries on board and a booster pack just in case. Your battery charger should be good it`s automatic and has 10 and 2 settings which you would need for the deep cycle.

I have tried both fish crisp and uncle buck`s and personally I still prefer plain old flour and some seasoning and bacon fat for the frying.

I finally dumped Bell last month and went with a local provider for the phone and DSL service I am saving at least 30 dollars a month on the phone and DSL and probably a whole lot more on long distance since now I only pay 2 cents a minute for long distance charges and as a bonus I get all those call display, call waiting etc. things for free. As a fisherman and boat owner I can think of a lot of things I can spend my new found savings on.

Too bad about your finger I hope you cleaned it up good there can be a lot bacteria on hooks. Good advert for having a GPS on board especially since they have come down so much in price every boat should have one. -
Nice pike I am going to have to try Cooks one day that used to be my old stomping grounds when I was a kid, by the way if you want to catch more fish you will need more rods. LOL

My deepest sympathies to you and your family Lew, a brother is part of your soul and a terrible loss.

If it was my motor I would change the gear oil replaced the small gasket on the drain screw and take the motor out a couple of times and then re-check the oil for signs of water.
