catching bass can be "more than fun"!
lookinforwalleye replied to gforce's topic in General Discussion
That happens on Scugog all the time with walleye! BTW I don`t think a 40" musky would weigh 30 Lbs. but I can understand your excitement. -
I can see a helmet being a useful tool to protect your coconut from bouncing off the water at 90 plus MPH.LOL

Canoe Friendly Waters for Bass/Pike????
lookinforwalleye replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
I would second Roy`s suggestion I spent a lot of time on that lake years ago and caught my PB small and largemouth bass in that lake and I understand that it is loaded with pike now. -
I vote that the mods flame this thread I think it`s all pretty much been said and we have clearly established who the wingnuts are/is.

Congrats on the nice smallies guys, fishing is a ongoing learning process just when you think you got it figured out you get thrown another curve ball. I have been out to Simcoe a couple of times this year fummbling my way a round but I am slowly starting to get the idea. I figure in a few more years I may have some decent knowledge of the Simcoe smallie.LOL I was out with my son last week for a few hours and we caught 8 smaliies,I was up on him 6-0 at one point and he was getting frustrated until he finally had a pick up when everything was said and done he boated a nice smallie that was pushing 6 pounds maybe more didn`t get a weight on it ironically it was his first trip to Simcoe and his first ever smallmouth the smile on his face was priceless.

Trolling motor battery issue,any idea`s
lookinforwalleye replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the replies guys,I have sent the manufacturer an e-mail. -
I have a trailer at Goreski`s and while it`s a great place their rental boats just plain stink, I saw another group being towed in Saturday afternoon I don`t know why anybody would rent one of their rigs. The tourney on Saturday was a Bassmanisa event and judging by the winning weight the Bass fishery on Scugog is alive and well the winning weight was over 22 pounds for 5 fish thats well over a 4 pound average which is very good for any body of water.

Trolling motor battery issue,any idea`s
lookinforwalleye replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the comments guys but I am pretty sure that it`s not a wire issue, I did take my cranking battery and tried it and the motor worked fine. When I connect the deep cycle and tighten the wing nuts down there is not enough power going through to turn the prop there is however some power going through because when you press the battery meter it glows faintly and the head will turn right or left very slowly. I can solve the problem by by passing the wing nut connector and use the lead connector but that is a pain to disconnect for charging. -
First Muskie attempt on Scugog tonight
lookinforwalleye replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
Try any of the weedlines in 5-8 feet of water the better ones will have deeper water near by, darker color spinnerbaits work well brown can be good at times and one key peice of advice is to pretend your fishing for Walleye and you have a good chance of catching a Musky. -
I have a puzzling problem with my battery and I am wondering if anyboby else has ever had this problem. When I tighten the wing nut down on the positive terminal the trolling motor will not work,if I loosen the nut two or three turns it works fine. If I connect the wire directly to the lead post it works fine. All the terminals and wires are clean and the battery is sound this sure has me scratching my head, has anybody ever had this problem before. Thanks.

That`s a big girl! Ya got love when it takes 2 people to hold up a fish!

The area you are talking about is private property and has been for many years, every once in awhile somebody will venture in if they are noticed they will get the boot. The area actually has an interesting history someone did post a link to this at one time I think. To the best of my knowledge the area is not a sanctuary.

Those are indeed some sickly lookin bass, I caught one that looked like those last year in Scugog 21" long and lucky if it weighed 2 Lbs.
-
Still got that funky footwear I see! Nice fish BTW
-
Personally I would choose plastics I can count on one hand the number of LM I have caught on cranks and have a couple of fingers left over and that`s probably because most of the time when I fish LM it`s on Scugog and you can`t get a crank bait through the jungle,Scugog is 80% weed and 20% water.

Wow it looked like you`re tooling down the lake at 30 mile an hour I just hope that thing does not decide to fold back up on you while your`re going water sking speed. That would be one interesting video!

I forgot I was out on Simcoe on Sunday in my Alumacraft Navigator powered by my Yamaha 90 4 stroke caught a few smallies on my Shimano Compre paired with a Shimano Sedona spooled with Berkley Trilene with a BPS tube and of course I can`t forget the XPS jig hooks. And a special thanks to the Maple Leaf Meat and the Coca Cola companies as well as George Weston for providing lunch. Sorry I couldn`t resist!LOL
