Agreed. My Lund 17.5 Tyee is powered by a 115 Yammy. Speedo hits 40 mi/hr but with more than 3 guys in the boat it takes a while (5-10 sec) to get on plane unless I send someone to the bow. That's a 4 stroke for you. With 2 guys it's perfect. Extra HP = more $ and more fuel though. But better performance. trade off

Remember guys. Hair dryers, lights, coffee makers etc add heat to your home. Furnace will run less. Dryers are the biggest pigs. Not only do they draw power (esp electric) but they suck the warm house air out and make your furnace work harder. Central vac does too if the unit is in the garage. I close the door to the laundry room and open the window in that room so that the dryer sucks in mostly outside air. Or try to dry clothes on a warmer day.

If you live in Grimsby, you'll likley be fishing Lake O and Erie. Make sure the boats a deep V hull and at least 17 ft. The bigger the better IMO. Think about a kicker for fuel savings and safety. Unless of course you by a Yammy main engine. No safety kicker required there I own a Lund/ Yammy. Was nervous to buy welded but ran across a CO on Nipissing a few years back with a 10 yr old 19 ft welded Crestliner/Yammy. He said they beat the snot out of it on big water and no problems with leaks.

I know the insurance underwriters have a "stupid factor" built into policies -like when you wire your own house incorrectly and cause a fire. But if there is a significant claim and they don't want to pay, they start looking at the fine print. Like if you lied about your driving activity as in whether for work or pleasure. Best to ask the agent dealing with the policy

Really need to talk to your insurance rep. May not cover you if you're in an accident if you tow beyond rating of veheicle. Secondly, start saving for a new transmission on the Caravan

Hired a guide and bought all the fly fishing gear to catch Atlantics in the rivers of western Newfie a few years back. Got shut out. I hear Labrador is the place to try.

Had the same problem last spring. Radioworld said they put it on tight so it doesn't fly off when you drive fast. Push in the centre with both thumbs and pull the edges with your fingers. Works best when mounted. It will be easier subsequently Hope that helps.

We are new cottage owners in the Kawarthas. The cottage is a 4 season place and we were considering keeping the furnace on at 45 F and not winterizing the plumbing/appliances. The smartmeter on-line showed it would cost about $4-5/day (electric furnace) to keep it there during the cold months. We were concerned that an extensive power outage would freeze the pipes anyway so we went ahead and winterized everything. Looks like it was a good move.

Kinda like vehicles. I have owned 3 Safaris now. 300,000+ km each. They have been great workhorses but Consumer Reports says they are junk and are not recommended.

Thanks Cityfisher. Glad to hear you've had a good experience with the Polaris X2. On paper they sound like the best for my purposes. From what I hear, the Polaris machines have improved lately. Went to a Yammy dealer in Peterborough last month. The rep said he worked for a Polaris dealer for 7 yrs. He advised me if you don't buy a Yammy ATV, at least buy a Honda or Suzuki. Stay away from Polaris. Lots of repairs. Yammy doesn't have a 2up

May pull the trigger at the Sportsman show if they are willing to deal aggressively. reluctant to lay down $9K for another toy but compared to $35K for my boat I guess it is reasonable. especially for 2 people.

Any good deals at the Sportsman Show? Like throw in a free winch?

Still looking for a 2 person capable ATV for the cottage trails in the Buckhorn area. Can't decide between 2 UP or side-by-side. Hoping to see them all at a show. Does anybody know when the best show will be? Sportsman Show? Looking hard at the Polaris X2 550 FI or a Ranger/Rhino. Some pretty good rebates out there. They seem to hold their value well. Not sure it pays to buy used unless you can be sure it was well maintained and hasn't been pounded. Would appreciate any advice. ATV Virgin
