  1. Alright, thanks. Sounds like my 25lb big game should work fine as backing then. And thanks for that link, might be dangerous for the credit card knowing I can order that magnitude of float equipment. Haha sure beats BPS selection. Much appreciated Bill!
  2. When I was growing up on the shore of Lake Erie it was commonplace, go to the pier early in the morning for sunrise. Cast the beach side of the pier with jerkbaits, work em fast, really really fast. We used to slam them some days. Occasionally two on the same bait would happen. This was all through summer and into mid-september. As it got later the pauses got longer. In late november we paused the jerkbait up to a full 30 seconds between twitches. Beware of pike. I'm no expert on the subject but thought I'd share my limited experience. Ripplin' Redfins were the hot bait for that when I was young.
  3. #1 question, what type of backing do you use? I didn't have any at first, big mistake, made my reel seem like crap. I put on some 25lb backing (a LOT) as suggested by a guy on the river , and I will test it today but thought I'd ask what others are using for backing. I might have it all wrong again. Haha #2 , where the heck can I get decent floats? I dislike the blackbird phantom floats CT carries, i bust them up too quick. I had foam Sheffield floats last season, loved them, and cant find them anymore. #3 more of a curious question what size hooks for floating roe? I've been using #8 egg hooks with much better success than I had with a #6 last fall.
  4. Dang, nice smallie!! Oh and that plethora of hawg largies, thats cool too Jk man all sweeet fish!! Totally jealous as always!
  5. We were smallie fishing, catching one after another. Suddenly there was no smallies, just perch. After so many in a row I had to find some means of bringing some home. Lol
  6. Yupppp
  7. Have definitely been seeing a lot on my nightly pond walks.. bullfrogs too, like wow i cant hear myself think in the evening over those guys! Haha
  8. Other people being thieves is not your fault. I don't know where the misconception happened over the years, but an unlocked door is not a "FREE, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED" sign.
  9. Try dropshotting large minnow style baits... I have never caught one on a jigging spoon but bows LOVE them.
  10. Why was ethanol added to fuel in the first place? A serious, clueless question.
  11. Now, to play devil's advocate.. it seems silly to slit fish for bait, to catch more fish, for more bait.. Though I'm sure for some it's just as silly to go out day after day, chase fish, spend countless dollars on equipment simply to take a picture and put a fish back. Not to mention ignore mortality rates in the process. Just seeing the coin from both sides.
  12. Pike aren't edible anymore? Sweet I'll tell the yocals that fill stringers with them all spring!
  13. Zeitgeist: The Movie Available for full viewing on youtube.. We're already on the mothership.
  14. Some of us are outside the matrix Old Ironmaker. The place for sodas is not a physical place. It's wherever the awakened minds meet.
  15. Im not sure what you're upset about here.. he does it differently and you believe that's wrong?
  16. Common sense would dictate to me that a vehicle built specifically for outdoor use could handle the outdoors.
  17. Looks like it went in handle first.. that was my first question... seems plausible. Lol makes ya wonder what else they've found in fish bellies over the years.
  18. Be happy you learned where kelso and mountsberg are.
  19. My girlfriend does it this way, and hooks almost as many as the hair rig. I use this method under a float as well, works great.
  20. Some really awesome information here guys, can't thank you all enough! I need to vary my approach from corn now as the golden shiners are tearing it all apart in seconds down there. Sounds like I should be using more boilie style baits!
  21. I cant see how a little gadget can make it all that much faster. I think no matter what, tying bags is gonna take time. Haha
  22. Need the carp experts here.. I know at this time of year for bass and pike, the rule on my boat tends to be bigger is better. And I find I catch crappies and rock bass far more often on my bass lures. Which leads to what I assume may be a trend across the fishing board.. as bait of all variations would tend to be bigger now.. So, I ask thee panel of carp experts, in your experience, is bigger better in the fall? I've tinkered with some longer, larger hair rigs in the past couple weeks with varied to minimal success. It seems under a float with a small hook we are getting the most bites, but all but one float fish has been small (5lbs or under for the most part). Tried the bigger hook idea, and missed fish like crazy under the float. We have hooked two larger than life bad boys in the last three days, with nothing to learn other than both those fish were on bottom, and both were the only fish we had bite that hit and immediately hooked themselves and screamed drag. Anywho, bigger = better or no?
  23. Perfection!
  24. I use Gamakatsu "Demon Circle" hooks for wacky rigging, the circle hook gets the corner of the mouth the vast majority of the time.
  25. This time of year I start to throw the musky baits. 1.5-2oz spinnerbaits, namely. I find september is big baits/big fish time.
