  1. Hi Cliff As per my post, thats what we are doing but just frustrating trying to actually do it. I wonder if we will get calls and letters like others suggested to stay with them..time will tell.. thanks for the comments guys

  3. Just a rant, So I called Bell Canada today to cancel our phone number at home as we both have new smartphones with a plan and voicemail and dont need to pay $60-$70 a month for another phone bill that we hardly use. I first got the ever so friendly voice prompt..for English press 1 ,for Billing press 2 etc; once past that I then needed to confirm my voice password. I said the prompt 3 times and received. "I'm sorry the voice doesnt match the voice/name on file".. I am the one the bill comes to and has spoken to Bell numerous times over the years! What a joke..I finally pushed '0' and spoke with some one who was having issues with her headset and could not hear me at all going back and forth between her headset and handheld..my blood pressure was just starting to rise by this time..She finally connected me with a guy in the 'connections' department who said I had been a customer for many years and wondered why I was cancelling my phone. I told him why and he said to 'hang on' that he was going to speak to his manager to see 'what he could do'. I reminded him of the reason for my call but he was a persistent little bugger and tried everything to get me to stay including lowering the price, but that he would have to get authorization from his manager. By this point, I said that I too would like to talk to the manager. Here's the kicker when he finally stopped harassing me, he said you have to give 30 days notice and that it would be another $60 for a months worth and it would be cancelled sometime in the next 30 days!! (I had waited until now as our billing date was the 7th January and wanted to time it that way) ...Are you kidding me.. The home phone was the only service we had with Bell and I cant see us going back to Bell..ever! thanks for the vent... Rich
  4. thanks Greg cheers Rich (the navionics web site says the Great Lakes one covers the Trent Severn? hope Im not getting confused..but it wouldnt take much lol
  5. Hi guys I have the Samsung Galaxy Smartphone (Android) and love it so far...I have never had an iphone so I cant compare it to them or say it is better etc; I just like mine alot right now. I too saw the Navionics app but it didnt really expand as to what it included..it was either 'Great Lakes' or 'Canada'..I am also interested in areas around Couchiching, Simcoe, 6 mile, Sparrow etc.. I think the app is around $13 so I wanted to find out if the above lakes are covered somewhere in detail before I purchased it.. thanks guys for any thoughts..good topic
  6. Santa brought me a Sirius satellite boom box/auto combo..so far so good. I love the fact there are no commercials and can tune into my favourite (oldies 60's on 6!)anytime. The programming was at half off (6.50/month or so).. I can simply listen in the van and bring the receiver in the house to the boombox... Great so far..and yes I know you are paying to listen to music but thats everyone's choice I guess not to listen to tons of commercials..we'll see how it is going in 6 months when the prgramming is supposed to go back up....
  7. thanks for sharing..great pics Best wishes in 2011..

  10. Hi guys I finally picked up one of the CTEC chargers from CTC when they went on sale; the unit itself seems to get really really hot after a couple hours..anyone else notice this? is this normal? I have a 'normal' red battery charger in the garage that works but read about how great these are..wasnt sure what the difference was but thought I would try it..just not sure why it gets so hot to touch.. thanks guys Rich
  11. B.A.S.S. names Dave Mercer Elite emcee B.A.S.S. Communications New B.A.S.S. emcee Dave Mercer is best known for his Facts of Fishing television show.Orlando, Fla. — There will be a new mouthpiece of the Bassmaster Elite Series, B.A.S.S. announced today. Starting with the upcoming Bassmaster Classic in New Orleans (Feb. 18-20), popular television personality Dave Mercer will control the microphone as contenders weigh fish for the world championship title. Mercer also will emcee all Elite Series events for 2011. "We are so excited to bring Dave Mercer on board," said Jerry McKinnis, an owner of B.A.S.S. "He has a tremendous following through his Facts of Fishing television show, and has a charisma I believe fishing fans are going to love." Mercer, a Toronto, Canada, native, started his television career 15 years ago by hosting 1-minute angling tips on a small local station. Today, he produces more than a hundred 1-minute fishing tips that air nearly 600 times per week on many networks in Canada and the United States. Five years ago, the 36-year-old began a long-form television show, also called Facts of Fishing, and he has become a celebrity throughout the fishing ranks. "This is a dream come true for me," said Mercer. "At one time I used to dream about fishing the Bassmaster Classic. Then, after I fished with some of the Elite Series pros and realized how good they are, I altered my dream to emceeing the Classic! I never imagined it would become a reality." Mercer has hosted the Toyota Texas Bass Classic for the past four years. That event draws as many as 20,000 spectators to the weigh-in and concert. His first day on the job for B.A.S.S. will place him squarely on the biggest stage in all of bass fishing. "Standing on that Classic stage, to me, is like a comedian getting to perform on the Tonight Show. It just doesn't get any bigger," Mercer said. Mercer will be replacing longtime emcee Keith Alan. McKinnis praised Alan for his talent and work ethic. "Keith has been a true professional and has been good for B.A.S.S.," McKinnis said. "We simply felt like it was time for a change — time to get a fresh personality in the role of emcee. And we are confident bass fans are going to really enjoy watching Dave interact with the best anglers on the planet."
  12. Hi guys I currently have a roller-style trailer which means I cannot drive the boat right on to the trailer as I have to hit the rear-roller right in the middle..I usually end up stopping, and pulling the boat on the first roller and then the second getting it all lined up etc..I figured a bunker style trailer would be easier to drive on so I dont have to stop and pull it on... Just curious if anyone has done this conversion or can point me in the right direction.. thanks guys

  16. yes, I am proud to be Canadian but who cares where they are made as long as the product is a good one and you like to use it to catch fish. They could be from USA to Australia to Canada..as long as they make a product that you like...who cares. I'm sure there is something in your house that you will use tonight..whether it be for supper, sitting on after supper to watch a televsion, or whatever..that is not 100% Canadian. dumb thread...jmho
