Thanks guys.... It helps having good people in the boat... I had fun fishing with all of you and hope to do it again soon...
-
Nothing wrong with that color... I've caugh lots of musky on similar color patterns... Actually I have a lire with the same pattern only smaller spots and it is in my top 10
-
All season thing.... Big factor for me... Full moon = night bite...
-
The "best" color changes throughout the year... And varies from spot to spot.... As well as day to day.... Morning and night... Sunny and cloudy... Warm and cold...Etc... Some may say this isn't helpful information... But it is... Never be afraid to experiment with colors... Especially when your ON fish... That way you know active fish are seeing this new color... My box has a LOT of different lures in a LOT of different colors... But generally I only use a few different lures in a few different colors... As far as lures... Depth is key... Where you will be fishing mostly.... You'll be targetting 15-30 feet of water.... So you'll want crankbaits that dive at 15-20-25-30 feet for different spots... Lures that will dive 20 feet or so will be 90% of your arsenal... Stick with brand names like Rapala... Cotton Cordell... Reef runner... Manns... Yo zuri... They all work... Also mentioned are worm harnesses.... These are a bit tougher to troll... But I'll show you to do it right when we get out.... And to start... Keep colors simple.... Black/gold Black/silver Blue/silver Perch Fire tiger Again I'll show you some of my favorites when we go out... Hope this helps Mike

her father only fishes a little bit any more... thats were the lures came from... so in the end he basically got the lures from her dad... so do the old man a favour and take him fishing... im failing to see how your confused about this
-
I'd be taking her dad fishing a couple times....
-
good read simon... thanks... didnt realize our dam in cornwall was one of only 2 controlling water levels in all the great lakes...

For big fish.... Troll CRANKBAITS... Not many walleye anglers can argue the fact that trolling cranks gets the highest average weight.... Can you get a pig on a little jig... Of course... Can you catch more on spinners/harnesses.... maybe... But I know from experience.... That cranks catch bigger fish... On average... And in the fall lindy style rigs with 5-7 inch minnows drifted beside weed beds gets the neutral fish to bite...

Your just nailing em mike.... Keep it up.... Glad they had a good day for a good cause... -
Another option is a track style set up... So when you remove the rod holders you left with a 1/4-1/2 inch high by 3 inch wide by ???? Long track on a carpeted deck section... You get towers made that go in these tracks... Awesome set up... But pretty pricy.... Trojan tackle is one company....
-
Yeah... They come in all lengths.... And different heights as well... So you can mount them as for back as possible... Even on the transom area... But like you said... They are a permanent mount....
-
Just cause you haven't seen em doesn't mean they aren't there.... My dad is pushin 60 and has never seen a trout in the st.lawrence... I caught one a few years ago.... And have friends that catch them every year....
-
Do you have any rails? If not have you considered adding them to your boat? Then you have lots of options for rod holders... And the rails are attached by small screws into the glass... Instead of drilling a big hole for Scotty's... They don't really get in the way either... Especially on a low profile bass boat... My brother has them in his ranger and we have Scotty mounts that are made for rails... You can even clamp on salties for musky fishing...
-
Lol The rod you really liked the feel of was a st.croix legend extreme 7'11" heavy.... Keeping in mind the size of some of the walleye I catch... Most guys say I'm nuts for using a rod like this.... But most guys don't fish the st.lawrence... I know guys trolling walleye with musky rods...lol Realistically.... A 7 foot medium heavy fast action baitcaster is probably the best set up for you....
-
Cause the fish are so damn heavy...lol... Have to concentrate on balancing the floppy 30 pounds of muscle with razor blades for teeth...
-
Great videos mike... Great action
-
I've got 3 of those do far this year....
-
Lmao I know a guy that used salt on an apple pie instead of sugar...lol

Had a blast Ron... Breakfast friday was nice and Saturday on the water was a blast... Ron is a fast learner... I was explaining how to read water.... Then Ron asked if we "could try over there"... Of course I said.... Sure enough we got 1 or 2 walleye there.... So thanks for helping me find another spot Ron... I got more at that spot last night with my dad.... -
I keep extra rope in the boat for just that reason....

Scugog Private Property Signs on Lake

They can't own water... As far as I know... The way I understood it when I talked to several people in the MNR and OPP... They can own the land under the water... So if you anchor you are trespassing.... But they cannot stop you from being over their land floating on water.... Again... That's the way it was explained to me on the phone by several employees of the MNR and OPP.... I'm not looking to argue with anyone that thinks I'm wrong... This is information that took me around 20 phone calls to several different people to obtain... I had a trespassing issue myself and was considering going to the authorities over the harasment I was recieving from a marina owner... -
I guess it's the same as dumping garbage technically.... Weather you plan on retrieving it or not.... Too bad common sense wasn't used by authorities....
