  1. I love an east wind.... Only wind I hate is north cause there's usually a temp drop with it
  2. I fish on my day off...lol That's what separates the men from the boys... Getting your fish on a tough day means way more to me then pounding em on a great day... I'm pretty proud of the fact that I can produce well almost every day... No matter what the moon... Sun.... Stars... Or Yoda says... Don't get me wrong... I believe in barometric pressure and moon phases and so on... But until I'm retired... I'll fish when work... Weather... Wife... And kids allow...
  3. That's cool you got walleyes in the slop... Very infesting... Nice bucket too
  4. Wagoneer... Your not gunna get much love asking for people's specific musky spots... People work hard to find spots and aren't likely to spill the beans online... Especially when your fishing in a less then ideal musky boat with less then ideal musky gear... I see you feel differently then EVERYONE that has replied to your post.... But with musky bad things can happen really fast in a small boat with undersized gear... Given you tackle your better off targeting musky in the first few weeks of the season or in the fall when water temps are cooler and big fish can survive a longer fight on light gear.... Don't get me wrong... I've landed a LOT of musky while fishing walleye with 10lb braid... And a handful of 50"+ fish to boot... And I've never had a musky die when caught on walleye gear... But every big musky I've hooked on light gear i was worried about my safety as well as the fishes safety... You just can't control em the way you want to... Hopefully you take some of the advice given by everyone and get yourself a st Clair tanker... Good luck
  5. Same here.... They were sold in a lot of places around here... But that was 20 years ago... Man... I must be getting older now when I can actually use that line....
  6. Okuma has a nice lefty line counter out now... Cold water or something like that.... I also believe Abu makes a few models in lefty... If you can find a quantum cabo they are lefty with a clicker and tons of power... That being said I troll a lot of walleye and I am also a lefty... My counter rods are all right handed... Way more options... And it's not like it's a casting rod where your reeling in 1000 times a day... I use diawa accudepth 17s.... They aren't too big... Perfect for walleye... Strong enough to land big musky by accident... And cheap enough (69.99 or less) if one breaks (hasn't happened to me in the 6-7 years I've owned them) your not really upset... I troll rod in hand a lot of the time so my go to rod I use a regular bait caster because I don't need any noise to tell me I have a fish...
  7. That was midnight during a major bite window... Full moon fish...
  8. You just need to go where trophy musky are common.... I've heard of so many 50"+ fish in the past 3 weeks it's crazy...
  9. No biggy... It's just funny how people say things like that... Lol I got a 54" PB this year as well... Still trying to break the 55"+ club... It's coming.... Buddy put a 56" in the boat a week or 2 ago...
  10. The classic line everyone uses before they completely high jack a thread by posting something that completely outdoes the original post... Lol
  11. Congrats to Brian White AKA Ugly bug.... He landed this 50.5" st lawrence beauty last night....
  12. Lmao I went Yamaha out of NY state for $7200 for a 50hp 4 stroke with tank and prop... Gotta shop around and explore your options...
  13. A 50hp 4 stroke merc tiller with upgraded tiller arm is $9500-$10000... Used ones sell like hot cakes
  14. I've run 3-4 different brands now... Bang for your buck and easy to use go humminbird ... If money isn't an issue then the lowrance HDS lineup are great
  15. Just tell the guide your goal for the day Most will teach you HOW to fish... So you can apply the techniques to other spots... Or they can take you to COMMUNITY spots to show you a few spots to get you started...
  16. If you making them for yourself... And that's if... You better off making a kit and bringing that instead of 20 spinners on a noodle... I have a small box with all the different beads... Blades... Hooks...quick change Clevises I need and a spool of whatever line you decide on... If I need a spinner it takes 5 minutes to make one... Then I don't worry about running out of "red and silver".... I can make as many as I want...
  17. Same here yesterday Shallow bite was crap... Tried 20-30 feet deep with tube and drop shot... Drop shot produced so my partner switched over but brown instead of the smoke I had on... He was gettin bites 2-3 to my 1... I switched to brown and it was game on... Tons of light bites and dropped fish tho... They can be fussy little buggers...
