how do i get my girlfriend more interested in fishing????
scugpg replied to chandru's topic in General Discussion
Make her comfortable, try going on nice days first, if you have a boat make sure there's cushions for her to just sit and read etc if she don't feel like fishing. If you're on shore make a morning out of it, bring a picnic to stop and take a break. Like others said start in a spot where the action is a plenty. -
Thanks guys. A $37 light I want is going to be almost $100 by the time someone here special orders it in. I can have both a light and base to my door $75US shipped.

Just read through this post that would've been scary as hell! Glad you made it out ok. I find this works really well to avoid burning rubber at the launch & panic'ing from rolling back: Always use the e-brake, especially with manual transmission. When I'm bringing it up from the ramp I always put it in gear while the ebrake is on, gas it a bit to have pressure on the ebrake and then release ebrake and go slow up the launch, avoids rollback gunning it and spinning.

Anyone ever ordered parts/accessories from iboats.com ? They take care of all the duties etc for Canadians just wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences ordering from them.

Seen this on the Lowrance site was wondering if anyone has updated their 520/522 and noticed any improvements. The shallow water fix looks promising! http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine...oftware-Update/

Doesn't look like the no-drill clip for Se Sport will work on your motor http://www.sesport.com/image_user/Clip_Web_Shot_3.jpg

Make sure you have the right prop/trim setup first before considering the hydrofoil. FYI Cabelas has one that no drilling is required anymore! Its like $120 though.

bought a Sportspal canoe for $50.00 ( Updated with a ?)

I totally agree, but was looking at a Minnkota Maxxum motor for it, they're 30lbs so it's quite a bit over the side. -

Nice score! I was thinking of a jon boat but want to check out a transom sportspal to put an electric on. Maybe we'll see you on the water sometime around here! -
PM sent sir.

Hi all - I want to move my bowmount off the nose of the boat and make a wooden or aluminum base to move it back a little....so I can put some bow lights and make it easier on the frame of the boat. I've attached a pic - basically want to make an aluminum or wooden platform further back from the nose to mount the motor. Has anyone ever done this? What did you use? How did you mount it to the boat? Looking for suggestions. cheers, scugog

puting carpet on my home made casting deck
scugpg replied to fish-miester's topic in General Discussion
Yup do that. Home depot has the I/O carpet for $20 a 4x8' roll. -
The Liberals made a very big mistake in having Dion as their leader. To this day I think this is what cost them the last election. Get out and vote if it happens people!

I'm going to start using a swivel as well. I've broke a few knots this year. I use a 15lb braid with a 10-20lb Flouro leader for fishing walleye and small pike. When I've been lazy and just went braid I've had at least 4 bite-offs while fishing this year by an undetermined underwater critter Why do you folks prefer mono for walleye?

Cool this summer? arctic sea ice melt 3rd highest

I'm pretty sure we're accelerating climate change at a fast rate. All the emissions by the population that keeps increasing (we all produce CO2 as well) along with India, China and several other countries becoming more industrialized and using fossil fuels as power sources can't help but warm up the planet. It'll be interesting what things will be like in 10yrs from now. -
I had the opportunity to fish with Bob in the spring on the DR. He's a great guide had a blast. Love the Ranger boats as well

Out of curiosity when fishing 16-20ft for eyes is it best to jig out there or bounce harnesses? Thinking of heading up there some time.

I have a car like yours and tow my 14ft aluminum no problems with it out of launches etc. I'm hoping to get a 16ft and tow it - I have a 1000lb max towing as well. If doing long distances I'd invest in a transmission cooler. Look into getting the 12'' brake upgrade on your impala though....kit is like $150 and it makes a HUGE difference in stopping power.

Use Blue Dawn dishsoap. Could also use the Orange pumice hand cleaner you use for removing grease on your hands

my optimas are fully charged at 13.1V. Most batterys are 12.9V fully charged. Sounds like a bum battery to me.

I was able to drop some weight by picking up some 2x3's and some 2x2's for my frame at least going down from 2x4's and 2x3's before. Should be sturdy with 5/8'' ontop
-
Darn...I think I might go to Copps at lunch and just buy some wood. I'll design the frame so it's lighter and brace it where its needed. I'm better off buying a new prop that'll offset the marginal weight difference that'll be worth more than the extra coin in aluminum to me and whomever buys it next. Thanks so much for the tips guys, I learned a bunch here and if i get a newer deep-V and need to start fresh I'll go the aluminum route next time around.
-
Ouch....called today and it's about $90 for the aluminum to build my frame! 16ft of angle and 12ft of tube. 1/8'' Does that sound right? It's only $20 to build a wood frame maybe I'll put up with the extra weight.

Perfect. I think metal supermarkets would be the cheapest place in the London area?

I've heard nothing but great things about the smart tabs! I don't think they're feasible on a tinny though. I'm really considering a hydrofoil it should keep the nose down but will lose some top end. It was really irritating plowing water with it being front heavy. Anyone else care to share how they have their boat setup?
