Those quick-connects are pretty cool. Where can you buy them?
-
Assuming you can put the breaker somewhere where it won't get wet, you could use one of these available at NAPA Marrets won't work. If you can't solder them up you need to get butt connectors and crimp them real tight. You only need to use heatshrink on the connection points and overtop of any butt connections and the ring connectors etc.

I would recommend 6ga wire at the minimum and a 40A circuit breaker on the + wire as close to the battery as possible. Solder connections and use heatshrink tubing and/or quality tape. I bought some conduit from Home Depot and ran mine under the floor on my boat. Any more ? let us know.

For sure. Some species inheritenly taste better than others, but water and diet has a big difference on age. Even size, some fish could be much heavier than others of the same age depending what lake they are in and their diet.

I enjoy the taste of mudcat/bullhead, but they need to be taken from clean water. Never tried carp but I would just not around here!

My first choice would be Optimas, but price wise its hard to beat the Energizers or the ones at Costco.

How many of you actually eat your catches?

I love walleye and crappie. Perch and Northern are good as well. I eat quite a bit during the year but only eater size. Unfortunately in SW Ontario she's slim picking for clean water. I never freeze fish though just keep enough for the day's meal...usually its barely enough for a meal anyhow -
Pfluger President and St. Croix Premier.

Not sure...never dropshotted lol. http://www.outdoorproshop.com/Gamakatsu-Finesse-Wide-Gap-Hook-p/gamakatsu_finesse-wide-gap.htm

I've been using the Gamakatsu Finesse Wide-Gap Hook...25 pack. Aint cheap but seems to keep the fish on!

Minn Kota Traxxis would be my preference they are a great motor. -
Guys I'm looking to book a reasonable cottage for a couple days in the fall and was wondering if you have any ideas. Prefer 30mins from Lindsay/Peterborough area. Would like to get into walleye and bass/muskie would be a bonus. Stoney lake or Pigeon comes to mind. Even a smaller lake would work for us. If you have any recommendations let me know or shoot me a PM if you feel more comfortable that route. We would have our own boat as well.

Once you go wireless, you never go back! The MG is digital variable so yes I believe that is the maximizer. I would still go Minn Kota!

Only thing that bothers me is in the London region thunder and lightening happen quite alot with the rain. Bass can be very aggressive in the rain so senkos and crankbaits and spinners should work well for you. I'd choose a pond over a reservoir considering how bad the algae is lately but your call...should still find some fish.

Pete I'm 99.9 sure that the new powerdrives are 24V only. Make sure he gets a 24V system to run it. A guy on another board was running his Terrova in 12V until he figured out he was getting like 1/4 of the power out of it. Although it "may" run for a short while. It "will" wreck the motor long term. For you nothing less than a 55lb would do on that boat in my opinion. I personally prefer the Minn Kota Terrova but sounds like the price is right on the MG.

Even if you put a small floor in the boat (assuming you haven't already) it'll make things much better.

While up near Nestor Falls recently I was fishing a small lake with some senkos and a big snapping turtle nailed it from out of nowhere. I got him close and the ms. snapped a pic before managed to free the hook from him with long pliers and he swam away happy. Very respectable and aggressive creatures. The way it hit I was hoping it was a monster bass but no luck! Got a carp after jigging in the river and catching on to someone else's line that broke off and had the carp on the other end.

Definitely get at least a 9.9 man. Go Yammy with 100:1 mix is the best compromise for a 2 stroke. You definitely need the power if you start adding big guys, casting decks and trolling motors/batteries in there. Plowing water is not fun.

You seem to have some location gems around here. Good job!

What is the warranty like with Loomis? Pricey but sounds like they are worth checking out for fun.

Advice needed: Switching 2 hp Johnson for Trolling Motor
scugpg replied to GaryJ's topic in General Discussion
Ian how long/often do you plan to use the motor? If I were you I'd get a black battery cover just to be on the safe side as well as a circuit breaker. look no further for the best charger out there: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/2/BatteryAccessories/BatteryChargers/PRD~0111522P/CTEK%252BMulti-use%252B3300%252B3.3A%252BBattery%252BCharger.jsp?locale=en I would get a 50lb motor to give you the juice you need. -
Very cool! I want that fishing rod/reel combo as well!

I bought a couple packs of Yamamoto senkos recently and notice they seem to outperform most other senkos. I like how they seem to sink faster. What I don't like as the soft plastic wears out pretty quick and they're done after a fish or three. At $8-9 a pack, I was wondering if there is an alternative, or a place to get some at a better price

Found this online http://www.furunousa.com/LearningCenter/Transducer-Beam-Angle-Calculator.aspx Handy if you want to know how much your fishfinder covers on the bottom given your transducers' cone angle.
