Got a 164 PrinceCraft walk through so similar in size. It is really going to depend on what you need. I use the GPS when I want to go to a specific spot then the sonar to work the area. From my experience, get what you want now, the resale value on anything used is not going to be anything close to it's value even if you haven't used it.

I couldn't afford two really good units and my dash is small so that is why I opted for my unit. I guess it really depends on where you fish, how you fish, and what your priorities are.

Oh no, on that one, the bowls just get a little smaller LOL and in a pinch I can always whip up a batch of French Onion soup followed by an apple crisp for desert.

Paul, don't give it a second thought, I need something for me, and you can use mine NO PROBLEM! Tubes work well because they are easy to store when you don't need them. I am also building a dock leveling device so that once your dock is in, you can just sit on the dock and adjust it to wherever you need then tighten the bolts. Super for compensating for poles that settle into the bottom after everything is installed.

I bought a HDS-5 when I got my new boat 4 years ago and I love it! I really like having both the sonar and GPS on the screen at the same time and it takes up a lot less dash space than having two seperate units. If I want, I can switch easily between sonar or GPS, or have both and adjust their size on the screen. It also means less wiring harnesses and things to connect which made the install easier. Upgrades are simple to install when they do come out because they usually apply to both so one quick update and you have it. The downside is that if the unit does go down, you loose both, that isn't a big deal for me and in 4 years it hasn't happened (touch wood). I also think that sometimes dedicated units do give you a little better quality although I have no complaints about the quality of my unit! 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other I guess but if doing it again I would go with what I have.

Lets talk! I am going to be looking at the same sort of thing. I'll check with Particks Tire here in the next few days, he might have some used ones that we can get for the cost of a patch.

You don't know me very well LOL. Our door is always open and we can always find room for one more at the table. The soup might get watered down a little more and the bread sliced a little thinner, you might get handed an apron or a towel (or a hammer depending on what is going on at the time) but friends and family are what we enjoy the most.

I don't think a 4 lb slab would go far with this crew LOL, we've been known to go through 10 lbs here on a weekend and that was with only a few members droping by.

I have a 4 lb slab of pork belly that has been curing in the fridge for a week now, it should be ready to go into the smoker tomorrow and homemade bacon is on the menu for Sunday brunch!!

We have a cottentail living in the bushes beside our house and sometimes under our deck. I've been feeding it all our vegetable scraps (and a few bags of carrots when Sue isn't looking LOL). It has gotten so tame that now it will let me go and put food in the pile for it while it sits a few feet away. This morning I went out to add to the food pile and there are coyote tracks all over the yard. Sure hope it didn't get the rabbit!

Might not be a bad idea Lew but to be honest with you I'll bet the owner of that dock would be really happy to have not lost it in the first place. My dock was only 30' long by 5' wide, it is going to cost me close to $2500.00 to replace it by the time I get done with buying the materials and I'll do all the labour myself. In the 15 years we have been living here we have never had a problem leaving the dock in until freeze up. It makes life so eazy when you can just walk out onto the ice, pick up the panels and frame and carry them back to shore. This year the ice formed early then broke up, a bad shift in the wind and there it was, gone and all smashed to pieces. It wouldn't have made any differance if my dock was licensed or not (oh and BTW that was another tax that has already been proposed) when you own one the last thing you want to have to do is replace it never mind about having to pay a license fee and a fine on top of the cost.

Well when I first saw the heading I thought "cold water" and then I saw the post. I'll take the cold water anytime!

Get it serviced by a qualified technician, if you play around with it and something goes wrong you could end up hurting or killing someone! It isn't worth taking the chance!

Yup, made the mistake of leaving mine in this fall, first time in 14 years ice formed early then broke up and came crashing back in. I'll be rebuilding my dock as soon as the weather warms up. Won't make that mistake again.

Well, that is for the last 5 months , Dec. to March. From April to Nov. last year it averaged $152.00/ Month so the overall average isn't that bad and that does include the kitchen range and gas hot water heater as well as the BBQ and fireplace.

House is 1300 sq ft raised bungalow with a fully furnished basement. Sue and I upstairs, two teanage tennants downstairs. Average hydro cost for the past 12 months $168.00/month Average propane cost for the last 5 months $333.00/month Propane furnace, fireplace, kitchen range (upstairs) electric range down stairs and propane hot water tank.
