  2. If you add cheese to this pie it is a very tasty pizza. Btw... the fish is Lake Trout!! Enjoy!!
  3. Don't do that! Because the Tim Hortens Cups trails lead you to the secret fishing spots.

  5. One tip: Mostly the cans are lined with BPA. Don't use the can for heating your meal. Better fill it in a pot to heat! More Info about BPA (Bisphenol A)
  6. One of these guys for shure Brookie 4 lbs
  7. For those anglers who discard the eggs of fish - you can turn them easily into CAVIAR. I never cared much for caviar, but this one was different. Well worth to buy a bottle of bubbly to go with it. Our recipe: 1. Use only fresh eggs 2. Gently remove individual eggs from the skein and place them in a bowl. You will probably get about 1-1/2 cups of eggs from a ½-pound skein. As you pick out the eggs, remove and discard pieces of membrane, blood, and bits of intestine or black skin. 3. For each 1 or 2 cups of cleaned eggs, add 1/2-cup salt to 2 cups cold water in a large bowl and stir until salt is dissolved. 4. Pour eggs into brine. Swirl eggs and let stand 30 minutes to firm and absorb salt. Remove any membrane pieces found. 5. Pour caviar into a strainer. Rinse in cold water, and drain. Pick out remaining membrane. 6. Store caviar in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator. Caviar can be kept several weeks, or as long as the flavor is pleasant. You can serve it like this Rainbow Caviar, cracker with cream cheese and... Enjoy! How we make GRAVLAX from trout
  8. I got a message with this question: > When you say "freeze" the fish first.... what's your method of freezing the > meat for this recipe? How long does it need to be frozen for? > I will usually place the fillets in water, but that's because they stay in my > freezer for a couple weeks. Answer: I cut the filets and and wrap them in foil. Put them in the freezer for 1 day or whenever you would like to use them. It is just a precaution in case there were parasites - I have never seen any in the trout we caught. Enjoy, it's the best recipe for red trout!
  9. Good idea! For those who have sharp eyes to see the the black spots on the shown filets, they are crushed juniper berries. As you know, juniper berries is the stuff gin is made with!
  10. Well, you can do it with every fish I guess. But always freeze it before starting the recipe! With the other fish you mentioned you won't get the nice red look. Btw, this is our favourite recipe for red fleshed trout. With burbot we make a Finnisch fish soup - delicious!
  11. Tnx!!
  12. Enjoy!
  13. Here is the recipe: GRAVLAX 1 kg fresh salmon filets 3 tablespoons salt 2-3 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons crushed white pepper 1-2 bouquets fresh dill (lots) Remove as many bones as you can (use pliers for those ones that stick up along the middle line), but leave the skin. Mix salt, sugar and pepper, and rub the pieces of salmon with it on all sides. Chop dill roughly and divide into three approximately equal amounts. Spread one third of the dill on the bottom of a dish and place a piece of salmon on top of it, skin down. Spread the next third on top of that piece, and place the other piece of salmon on it, skin up. Cover with remaining dill. Weigh down lightly with a rock or large can of whatever. Leave in the fridge for 36-48 hours. Turn every morning and night and pour off any liquid that may have formed. The fish is ready to eat! Scrape off the spices and dill and cut thin slices along the broad surface of the filet (like shavings). You may serve it with plain toast or boiled new potatoes, and with a slice of lemon or a lovely mustard sauce. Gravlax keeps for about a week. Serve with: Mustard sauce (Gravlax sås) Mix 30 ml of sweet mustard with 30 ml sugar and 15 ml vinegar. Add 100 ml oil gradually, stirring steadily. When you have a smooth thick sauce add finely chopped fresh dill. Pictures: How we make CAVIAR
  14. Grimace, I would phone them! Btw: After 3 days I found my temporary licence in my tmp-files!! If your computer crashed after you could see the licence, like my computer, and you know the date than it is possible that your temp licence is still on your computer. If you deleted your tmp-files than you are out of luck. So, phone them and good luck.
  15. New Licence... Service Canada: We don't have that! Go to Trading Post! Trading Post: What? We don't have anything. Try online. Not possible online, no info online! Could order a one day licence online. What's up here? Wrote an email. Answer after 2 days: Can not renew my licence before Dec 16. Aha! Started online early on Dec 16 and all was fine. After paying with credit card I clicked on the button for printing the temporary licence. With that click my computer crashed. Ha! No, I don't write about my blood pressure at this moment! After a phone call, it takes me just 20 minutes for waiting, bad music btw, a friendly guy said he will send me the licence with mail. It arrived just in time on Dec 30. Thank you!! Please, mnr, there is time enough the whole year. Why not allow to renew the licence earlier than middle Dec??
  16. Need a new parka for ice fishing. What do you think about "StrikeMaster Polar Parka"?
  17. bluesky1713, this anchor "worms" will really not hurt you. They are external parasites that anchor themselves just under the skin. You can cut it out. @Fishabout: I'v never seen, here in Elliot Lake, any tape worm under the skin in Lakers or any other trout. I always make fillets from my trout without the skin, never had seen any tape worm or any other worm in trouts meat. But I will look for it because we like to make graved lax from trout, but every trout was deep frozen before we do that. In Bass I found it in the summer that's why i not really like to fish for Bass.
  18. Those are Anchor Worms (Lernaea), Google knows all about it. Anchor worms are not real worms, they are crustaceans. Yust pick them off they won't do you any harm.
  19. My Jiffy Lightning has the same problem. For me it works well after these steps: 1 start with closed choke 2 after a first short run it stops immediately. Open the choke now 5 mm and start again 3 if it runs now, then open the choke complete and give it throttle After that procedure I can drill without problems
  20. Maybe it's easier to read it here: Lowrance Downloads
  21. You can get the maximum output if the load resistor is the same as the inner resistor from your source. If the inner resistor is 4 Ohm you never get more power out than with an external resistor of 4 Ohm! But, in this case... You can change the transmitted power of your antenna dependening on their efficiency. If the transmitted power is 3dB more efficient you can transmit twice the power. Example: Normal Antenna#1 transmit 100 Watt into the water, the source amplifier has 500 Watt Antenna#2 with +3dB transmit 200 Watt into the water, the source amplifier has 500 Watt That means, that antenna#2 works like antenne#1 with an amplifier that has 1000 Watt
  22. #6 on your rod means A.F.T.M 6
  23. Brought mine from Germany. We use our carp rod here for trout fishing from shore. I think you can use any good spinning reel for carp fishing. No special carp reel is necessary. If you think about a carp rod maybe a telescopic rod is something to think about it. Easy to order from EU online stores. Good luck!
  24. Dave, you can find a lot of information especially for yak-anglers at Yakfisher.net
  25. The same setup. This float you can buy at CT
