  1. its sounds like a very simple fix. if you dont know much about sleds but are mechanicly inclined then you should be able to do it yourself in 2-3 hours. www.inglesperformance.com go to parts fiche and you can check out all the parts costs and what stuff goes. www.hardcoresledder.com is a great forum site for sleds, lots of parts for sale and good ppl to help you. its sad how long sleds have been around yet they still havent been able to keep them reliable like a car that can go for 300 000km ony doing oil changes, brakes, and ball joints etc. by the sound of the things that are wrong the guy probably didnt even know they were wrong. those parts wouldnt leave you stranded and could hobble back home. good luck!
  2. wow im inpressed at all the ppl that like pike and in the top of their lists! most ppl i know just release pike mainly cause they dont know how to fillet them. i find good cold water northerns to be the richest fish out there and not able to eat much till i feel full. my top 5 are 1. specks 2. northern pike 3. lakers 4.walleye 5. salmon
  3. im pretty sure the pike your holding isnt the one in the other pics. what was the size of the pike laying on the ice?
  4. i get the mag and i love them! i cant wait to get mine! actually i just got the latest one today!! i like it cause its ontario and it relates i dont care about catching salmon on the ocean like what other mags write about. its a great read, probably the only paper i enjoy reading
  5. totally agree with you biteme. they should be thinned out but not wipd off the face of this earth. cut them down to 1/10th. they are probably making great money off us buy charging ppl for killing them
  6. i seen these buzzards at one or 2 lakes around here. and i heard and seen that they are great fishermen. and i was doing some reading on them and they native to the great lakes and not some unnatural bird taking over our lakes. they say in the 30s-50s they were almost killed off then by the 80's into the 90's the populations just exploded larger then they originally were and ppl today are unaware they are native to this area. i say we shouldnt completely destory them but cut/control their numbers so theres some kind of balance.
  7. i definitly will keep the reports coming! i gotta start taking more pictures though! just wait till after the new year there will be lots of reports coming from moi!
  8. thanks alot. where i bought them they had like zero selection. only ones i seen were the flat! i'll look into them but probably wont buy till spring. ice fishing is where its at right now!
  9. ya it as me and my buddy, we had the old beat dodge dakota and there was 2 other guys that were there before us. the other guys are the ones that keep their camper there all year. the other guys did better then us gettng 5 walleye and 2 whitefish that they took home. the one guy had a honey hole catching probably 10-15 baby walleyes. and perch!?!?! ive never heard of or seem a perch in the tilleys. only walleye, smallies, whitefish, specks, and suckers. yous were thr ones that walked out and fished the upper then left after an hour or so and went to the lower eh? we were getting them deep at around 20feet.
  10. well thats good to know that they have different finishes. when i seen them it looked like a lure that would do well and did not. the only thing keeping me from buying more and giving them a better chance is the price. if they were $7-9 i'd buy a few different ones and work them hard. i'd be intersted in the jerk bait. i'm a firm believer in the xraps and i'd rate it has the best lure out there currently. after using them it has totally changed my fishing. i now have well over 50 xraps in my tackle trunk all different colours and sizes. although the new ones with the sureset hook stink! that large hook just bends to crap after catching a 5lb+ fish. when you put the jerk bait out on thr market show it on here and i'll pick a few up and run them hard
  11. when i was down in kitchener i went to a small tackle shop in cambridge and i seen them. the guy on the other side of the counter said he knew him personally and have been testing them for years and they are the best lures on the market. they didnt look that great but they did look pretty neat, even had a painted butt on them haha. i bought one perch one at like $12.99. i tried it at a few different lakes with perch in them and it didnt catch anything. the problem is that they need flash like a real fishes skin, the paint is flat and needs to shine. If you want a good lure buy the rapala xraps! you can buy 2 xraps for the price of one livetarget junk
  12. hey guys, i went out to tilley lakes today which past the chippewa river up the mile 38 road. there is 8inches of ice on the lake! fishing was extremely slow!! only got 3 walleye!! this summer i killed that lake coming home with my limit of walleye and smallies. ahh well good warm up/tease. theres enough ice to go out on the sleds and definitly enough to walk. just take caution to running water because its still open! good luck!
  13. ooo ya a soo OFC community fish off!! im game!
  14. ok so i only started fishing 4-5 years ago. All my buddys have fished all their life with their fathers and grandfathers. They only know one technique, one way to catch a certain fish. they would have the saying "ohhh i guess the fish just arent biting today". for the first couple years i didnt know any better and i went long with it. then i started researching, different techinques, different lures, etc. and i found out theres more then one way to catch a species of fish. So when the days we were just about to leave cause "the fish just arent biting" i said wait stay a little longer i want to try something and i'd try something different and bam i start catching fish! i turned around skunked days into some of the best fishing we have ever experienced. I have now changed the way they have fished, trying different things till we find something that works and this year we have not been skunked once. this has been my best year so far it doesnt really take that much skill just an open mind and knowledge of the fish. and well catching fish isnt luck but catching a trophy is, theres tons of fish in the lake but only so many that are trophys so your playing your odds!
  15. wooo a sault meeting here! i didnt think i'd ever see it on here!
  16. hey fellow sooer! my buddys dad went up and fished vixen lake this past sunday and he said there was 3-4inches and caught 7 splake. theres a guy that lives on trout lake and hes been taking pictures of the ice progress and has been posting them on fishontario.com in the ice fishing section on the ice report. should be lots to walk out. im unsure of leighs bay, there should be lots of ice up the whitman dam road probably almost to sled on. i know i'll be going out this weekend for sure but unsure where! good luck!
  17. yup definitly think i'll get a jon boat! they seem to be well priced for what you get! thanks guys
  18. For a while now ive been using an older 12foot aluimum and its getting pretty beat and i keep having to replace old rivets and it just looks like crap. i was thinking of hooking it up to the sled and dumping it at a secret lake for the summer. That now leaves me boatless and i would like to buy a new boat. i was thinking of buying a jon boat. i think they are are great like boat with a flat bottom great for standing and casting and hauling gear and what not. the only down fall that i've heard is that jon boats arent good when the lake gets rough. i always fish inlake lakes which arent that big and i dont fish in bad weather but have hammered it back to shore cause bad weather. are they really that bad? like im never gonna be on superior with it or anything. the price seems right for them and theres lots of different styles. another thing i found is most cant handle a decent motor. i plan to put my 9.9 evinrude on it, so i'll probably get either a 12or14 foot one. i got one stashed up at a speck lake and its 8foot and it cant handle a 3hp hahaha. you think the jon boat is the better boat or just stick with the traditional? anything i should be aware before buying? whats the best one out there? anyone know of any deals? thanks guys
  19. my goal this year was to catch more then fifty pike in one day and i did it 3times and one day catching 58 northerns. this year i caught my pb speck sb smallie. i also was not skunked once this year, and my biggest goal was to not use live bait and this year i achieved that and i did better then ever and had a much funner time doing it cause i was more active style of fishing. my hardwater goal this winter is to catch a new pb laker through the ice and do alot more jigging and slowly turn away from live bait ice fishing.
  20. i have personally not fished it but i have a book that describes the lake and it says "Five Mile Lake-is the centrepiece of Five Mile Porvinical Park. This large lake offers a fun day of fishing for walleye, northern pike, sallmouth bass, and lake whitefish." alot of those lakes are decent in that area. there is a trophy pike lake south of five mile close to burntwood but its some rough country getting there and is a trophy lake for a reason
  21. just stop fighting and focus on the letters and do it quick then get back to fighting the fish. i have found this to be the easiest game out there! and whats with the guy when he brings in the fish!?!?!? 20-20feet before the boat he grabs the line and ice fishes it in!!! i like the old rapala game better! it had bass, pike, musky, trout, etc etc a nd only 1 of 2 lures worked and there was only fish in certain areas and you had to work the bait in. this one u zing any old lure out and just reel it in at any speed anywhere and 90% of the fime you get a fish. this game is wayyy to childish no skill involved!
  22. wow thank god i didnt buy a doo! i bought a polaris from the states and my recall letter was $35 and that was only a few months ago! and i was mad about that. my dealer told me that they get charged for getting the info from polaris. i'd be outraged for having to pay$350. its enough already for buying the sled, drving down there and back, $200 import fee, both sales taxes, plates, insurance, etc etc etc definitly turning into a rich mans sport. but sadly if i sold the sled i bought i could sell it for almost double the money in canada thats the real outrage
  23. this past june/july i was in kitchener for school and i tried my luck down on the grand between kitchener and cambridge, i caught a 15lb carp and i thought it was nasty so i went to go put it back and these chinese ppl thought i was nuts and they asked if they could have it for their family so i said sure take it. probably fed the whole family so its all good to keep the kids from going hungry.
  24. i suggest lake lauzon past sudbury
  25. not a bad deal for the north. its a polaris so it should last you a long time! its a bit on the heavy side so dont get it stuck! i had my sled out last night and what a blast! i'm just itching to get out on the lake!
