  3. tackle trunk?? i got one magic lure that catches all the fish! simply the greatest tackle box ever is the bass pro xps stalker! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...10_100000000_10
  4. the 2 clams is a good ice but pricey, i dont wanna go out and buy 2 for that!and tracker that is kinda the idea i was thinking of if i will build one just will have down hill skis cause i got a pair already sitting here. i just wanted a nice looking one already made. im pretty lazy and just wanna buy a nice one! probably will break down and go to the lumber store and build one!
  5. ya the only one i can find is the otter one and im not a fan of the soft cover, i'd want like a hard cover like a clam. i think im going to just build one, im a second year carpentry and second year cabinetmaking apprentice and got an old pair of downhill skis in the basement so im sure i can come up with something! and i young and get a bit crazy on my sled so im pretty sure id lose stuff on the trail without a good top.
  6. so i've been on the search for a ice fishing sled that i can tow behind my snowmobile. all the ones i see are cheap sleighs without a top. like i cant pull a topless sleigh, all my gear will be in the bush first bump. my buddy has this one sleigh and he has no idea where he got it. his dad has had it since he was born and its bright orange with a top and a clamp to clamp the lid, and theres are rubber bumpers on the tow hitch for the rough trails, there are no markings on it for what company made it. does anyone know where i can get one or do i just have to build one myself?
  7. theres still lots of ice here in the sault in april but it gets pretty sloppy! lots of slush and water on the ice. i ice fished almost till the end of april last year. also that time of year isnt that best time for that trophy pike. if your after a trophy you should be out right now, after first ice, or right after ice out. i could tell you where to go, but if i told you i would have to kill you! buy a backroad map book and do some research.

  9. ya i seen the regulations on it and the picture of the guy with the short shorts gives me the shivers! that short of shorts should be banned and big fines for wearing something like that! as i said its shows the names of the lakes but doesnt show the location! i could look them up in my backroad map book but alot of the time theres 3-4 lakes named the same and it would really suck going to the wrong lake haha!
  10. hey guys! ive been doing some reading up on the aurora trout and how rare it is, and that its only in 12 lakes 2 of which are the only known natural lakes for them. i found lists of the names of the lakes but im not sure where they are. does anyone have a map of ontario marking these lakes? i wanna fish for them and catch my one just to say i did it and probably never go for them again leaving them along until they get a decent popualtion(i hope). i wanna plan a trip for next year! let me know! thanks guys!
  11. tundra n lightning where did you get that net? ive been looking around for that style and cant find one!
  12. i know theres lots in the sault area. my buddys dad works for the mnr and he said between 2005-2006 they captured 29 and relocated them to more remote locations. they dont want to go around and tell everyone cause it will just scare ppl.
  13. nice pike! i got a few lures that look like that to. pike do jump, not like a bass though. ive even had pike jump out of the water and on the way down grab my lure. on the weekend my buddy lost a nice 8-9pike cause it jumped and spit the hook.
  14. i gotta say rapala xrap 2005 and also fish finders and gps'
  15. WOW! didnt realize anybody used this stuff anymore! i bought a pile of ironsilk line in all different tests. i bought some 20lb of the same colour and i gave it to my buddy cause i didnt think it would be that great in the water. well this past weekend he decided to lace up that line and well he caught more fish then me! we were fishing a clear northern ontario lake! it was also great to see so alot less tangle ups! put that line on and hold on tight! why did they stop making this line anyways!?!?!?
  16. heres the links to pics of the 2 sureset lures i used this past weekend. copperhead(close to the regular gold but not the same if your wondering) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ries%26_fvi%3D1 and the purple albino i used that basicaly destoryed now hahaha! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ries%26_fvi%3D1
  17. before i left for my pike fishing weekend i picked up some new xraps. i picked up some #14s for trolling and some #10s for casting. i got the new purple albino and the new copperhead(i dont even see these on the rapala website yet), both having the new VMC sureset hooks. after a couple decent fish the larger hook just bent to crap and was hard to get out of the fish making it harder to giving the fish a good recovery and not having to rip its face off. after bending the large hook i just snapped it off with the pliers and a few fish later it was time to replace both hooks on the lures. if i buy the suresets again they are instantly coming off cause i cant chance missing that trophy cause of poor hooks. the regular rapala hooks seem to be pretty flimsy to but not this bad. i hope they switch them up. by the way xraps dont give pike, bass, and walleye a chance. http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail...eshorsalt=Fresh
  18. ohhhh ya tried it a second time and gotter! these are the last 2 pike we kept before they went under the knife, both 5lbers. http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u137/ga...avin5lbpike.jpg http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u137/ga...nate5lbpike.jpg
  19. they changed photobucket and its driving me nuts trying to add them on there, i can make a new album fine but cant seem to find where to actually upload the photo. you know its setup retarded when a young guy that has been using computers his whole life cant figure it out lol, or just shows how dumb i am hahaha.
  20. this past weekend me and 2 of my buddys fished a lake by aubery falls up the hwy 129 for northern pike. we got there friday at around 3pm set up and was out fishing at around 4pm. we got within a min of casting out our lines and starting to troll my buddy already had a pike hammer his lure. we trolled another 10min and i got a 4lber that completely swallowed my rapala and when i was working on bringing in that fish my other buddy got another one on. we troll another 5min down the lake and we get stopped at a guys camp i know and ended up drinking and not fishing. so we fished 30min max and had 3 pike one being a throw back. we got up the next morning around 10am and we trolled the hot spots till lunch picking off a few a pike then in the afternoon we worked our way into this hidden bay almost a different lake i guess you could call it. i know this is the hottest spot for northerns i know of on earth and i dont show anybody it. almost every cast we get a northern 3-5pounds, it was some wild fishing, you spend more time unhooking fish then you do casting. we all cast together and get double and tripple headers and time after time. we caught well over 50fish that day, we lost count it was some of the best fishing ever. sunday we went trolling odd ball spots where i dont normally try and try different lures i havent tried cause we caught so much fish the day before it didnt even matter. we picked off another 10 pike on assortment of lures. the top performing lures were the xraps. we didnt get any big sizes biggest only being 7lbs but we got tons of good quality fish. i did some experimenting, i got a ton of pike that would follow my lure to the boat but not take the lure or miss it so i tried the musky trick doing the figure 8 and doing circles and it was quite effective on pike to. so thats tip for someone fishing when the pike seem to be interested yet dont bite, try the figure 8 or the circle and it might increase your odds heres a link to 2 pics of the last 2 pike we kept during the weekend http://forums.fishontario.com/thread.jspa?...53&tstart=0
  21. a good place to look for sleds is in the states, they are going for dirt cheap! in august i bought a 2003 polaris rmk 700 with a 144" track and 2inch paddles for breaking trail and flying across lakes. when looking for a sled its all in what you want. you being a beginner i wouldnt buy anything bigger then a 600cc max to start. liquid cool has alot better performance but the fan cool is more reliable but slow. long track sleds are ideal for ice fishing but can be hard to find. everyone likes and hates companies just like cars. i'll buy anything but a cat. if you look around and pick up a sled in the states you can pick up a decent 2003-2004 skidoo rev. the sleds in ontario seem to be double the price, i guess more of a demand. check out the classifieds on www.hardcoresledder.com its a snowmobile forum site. also www.dootalk.com is a great skidoo forum site with some decent deals. www.johndee.com has some great deals all in the states and thats where i found mine. hope this helps!
  22. personally i think places should be kept natural and not have parking lots, porta pottys, etc etc. when i go fishing i like to go to the bush. if you make it all nice nice then alot more ppl will show and the areas will be out fished. im glad i live in more northern ontario. i hate going to the states i stay away much as possible but they do have good deals on fishing gear i'll give them that! also i live right on the border of the us and they all come here to fish, hunt and camp, i wonder why?
  23. looks like his truck has 4x4, they can get stuck pretty easy to. buy a small boat, put it in the back of the truck and carry the boat at the lake avoiding what you did there in the pic. pulling that extra weight can really get you into a situation. or buy a 4wheeler to launch the boat and go to back lakes. always go by your gut feeling, if you think you might get stuck, dont go! but ya nice fish, all the hard work payed off!
  24. hey guys! i'd like to get in on some netting whitefish. i heard its pretty much a hit or miss. my buddy has a camp by aubery falls and theres a place called black creek down the road and i hear its awesome for whitefish. when is the best time? i heard right when ice starts to form? would a smelt net do the trick? ive only caught whitefish accidently going for lakers and pike. would like some info! thanks
  25. thanks for all the welcomes so far! haha pike fishing is my favorite fish to target, they are large, reasonably easy to catch, and they put up an amazing fight. i also go for smallies, specks, bows, walleyes, lakers, etc.
