  1. Anyone had any experiences with Crown Verity grills?

I think that might be my next grill, Wally Parr down the road uses theirs everyday to cook sausage for their store.

I should ask them how they like that grill, its been the same grill for years.

I know they are not cheap!

Used to stop in at Wally's every time I passed it!!! Good snausages!!! ^_^

  2. Montreal gets Druin. Heck of a deal. Who can tell me about the kid they traded away?

Have heard the kid is going to be an awesome D-Man.

Looks to me like the Habs are taking a page out of the old Leafs book and trading away the future for a crack @ the big prize now.

They traded away a conditional 2nd round pick too.

  3. I grill probably 150 times a year! I cook virtually everything I can on my grill and some things you probably shouldn't... I just don't get a sense from either the BBQs or the sales people that I am going to have my new unit for as long as my VC (14 years). I cook more chicken wings than Hooters!!!!!! Ok, slight exaggeration, but if I had a dollar for every pound of wings that have hit my grill in the last 14 years, I'd have enough to buy a commercial grade BBQ with ease!

    HH

Edit to add- I'd BBQ Froot Loops if they didn't fall through the grill...

HH you need one of these and then you can BBQ Froot Loops to your hearts content!!! :D

  4. I got a couple of these. :whistling:

When introduced at the ICAST tackle trade show in 2006, the 12-inch MacDaddy’s Million Dollar Lure made headlines. Why so expensive? Might have something to do with 3-plus pounds of 14-karat gold and platinum, and the outer shell of 100 carats’ worth of diamonds and rubies.

  5. Nice work on the boat!

I would appreciate learning the steps you took to install the dock.

    pretty simple really.

I store the one section on top of the shore mounted ramp. I just slide it out and put in the pins.

I then slide my main section off a large sloping piece of shoreline granite and float it over to the dock and put the pins in.

Then I just have to attach my 4 chains and a weight off the end.

Takes about an hour and I can do it by myself.

It's always nice when I have a second set of hands though. ;)

  6. Dave I just noticed how that boat is tied to your dock. What happens when you get on shore winds? Or you just parked it like that to get pics maybe.

That Eagle painted the same Ferrari red would be off the chart. Trivia of the day, Ferrari has more than 20 shades of red.

It was tied like that as we were there to install the dock. ;)

This is what it looks like now and how you park the yacht. :D

  7. My buddy bought this boat late last fall. He bought it without a motor and the trailer needed lots of work. Let's start with the trailer. We lengthened the tongue 3' redid the bunks, replaced all the bunk hardware, installed a different winch tower off a different trailer. We also replaced the tongue jack, winch cable, lighting and all wiring as well as adding stainless boat buckles and galvanized guide-on's. Lastly we repainted the whole trailer with truck bedliner and added a spare tire carrier.

Onto the boat. I installed a 2016 off lease 90hp Merc from the same dealer I got mine from a few years ago. Also added the MercMonitor gauge, controls etc. Completely rewired the boat and built a new helm station to replace the 1980's vinyl one. I used scratch resistant Lexan painted from the rear to match the boat and backed it up with plywood. I installed a switch panel with built in breakers to run the electrics. Also installed a new horn, bilge pump and bilge pump control panel as well as the sonar out of his old boat and my old VHF and antenna. And finally on the transom are a new set of Smart Tabs trim tabs to smooth out the ride and allow the boat to plane at lower speeds.

Today we had it out for it's maiden voyage and it ran great!!! With the tabs it will get on plane and stay there at 12-15MPH when you pin the throttle at 20 MPH it just jumps up and rockets!!!! Top speed was 38.4MPH on the GPS and I should be able to get 1 or 2 more when I do a little tuning on the tabs. As a bonus I got my dock installed as well!!! :)

  8. Funny, but to the point. Mandatory to have the trailer registration with you, the days of running what ever trailer plate you could find in the barn are (unfortunately) gone.

I'm still running my Ontario trailer plates up here in Yellowknife. ^_^

They charge ya $25/year fer trailer licensing.

My boat and snowmobile trailer both have good old Ontario pay once plates. :tease: :tease: :tease:

My camper has NWT plates though.

  9. Keep the distance from battery to inverter as short as possible. If its on a boat you may want to go with marine tinned cable. Its not that much more than plain copper and won't corrode. You lose voltage with distance and then its not efficient. You will draw down your battery faster if the cable is too long. The 110 side is not a problem for distance. 4/0 is expensive too so shorter is cheaper.

You will also need to install a large fuse on the positive feed as close to the battery as you can. Probably a 250 amp fuse. I know it sounds high, but the current draw of a 2000w inverter on surge of 3000w is 3000/12v= 250 amps.

When I installed my Xantrex inverter on my boat I spent as much on wire, connections and fuses as I did on the inverter.

Ditch the fuse and pick up a circuit breaker like this.

They come in many sizes from about 20 amp to 300 amps or so.

Your local car audio place should be able to get you one.

  10. Ice is out @ the cabin and I'm still not ready with the boat.

Hopefully she will be ready next weekend.

Spent some time doing an interior clean, removed my old transducers and got the new Garmin transducers installed.

Still have to install the head units, connect power and NMEA to the VHF and put some panels back in the boat.

Gotta repaint the trailer one of these days. :whistling:
