  1. Sadly the insurance companies never want to fork out the cash that vehicles are actually worth.

Go after the truck driver for the difference as well as a few shekels for your trouble, pain and suffering.

OH, and just so you know it will be the truck drivers insurance that will actually be paying for the loss of your truck.

Talk to your insurance people (this is when it's really handy to have a broker) that you want to replace what you had and not be out $$$ after this is all taken care of. What happens is your insurance company pays you out and gets reimbursed by the at fault drivers insurance.

  2. How long you figure before yo get back up to the cabin ?

I see you bought the Hardie board planks for the exterior ... is that the cement and fibre board ? Ive read that is a great product but expensive. We ended up using Maibec for ours.

Yes, Hardie is cement fiberboard siding.

    Each 12' X 8 3/4" piece weighs about 30#'s.

I got a very good deal on it as my landlord had it sitting and wasn't using it.

Paid 1/2 price or less for it. :)

  3. Ice is starting to thin out quite a bit.

This was shot today. Plane is at the North end of the lake Looking South.

2 big sheets of ice hugging the West side of the main basin and a sheet of rotten ice in my bay @ the North end of the lake.

If you look on the right side of the North bay just NE of the little lake on the point you'll see a little white dot.

    That's my cabin!!!! :D

  4. I'm way to anal about my trailers and tires to be oblivious. I probably know whats going on with my trailer before they oblivious driver behind me does.

    S.

Exactly!!! When I had a bearing issue this winter I knew it early and turned around to go back home.

Limped it home on the shoulder and had it repaired a couple of hours later.

It was nice of the people to let me know I had an issue with it as I was doing 10kph on the shoulder with my hazards on though.:blink::blink:

  5. Had some lightning hit really close to the house yesterday, scared the crap out of the gf and lit up the entire living room, lol.

When I lived in Grand Valley in the 90's I was sitting in the livingroom watching TV when lightning hit the TV antenna!!!!

That's about as close as you want to get. It blew up all of our phones, surround sound system, 2 garage door openers as well as some computer equipment and other items.

It blew an aluminium disk off the top of the antenna (it was one of those round plastic ones). The disk landed in the back yard and there was a hole burned through it that was only 1/16" in diameter. A fraction of a second before the strike you could hear a loud buzz as the connection was being made and then flash, bang!!! At the same time.

    Was pretty wild!!!

  6.

What transducer did you get with your Garmin Drifter ?

My Echomap Chirp 93sv unit has a CV52HW-TM and my Echomap 74Ssv non-chirp unit came with a GT41-TM.

They are different frequency units which is good for interference.

Going to use the 74sv for navigation and the 93sv as a finder.

The non-chirp ducer is twice the size of the chirp one.

  7. I have two big Garmin ones to install on my boat this weekend.

Going to be fun trying to tune these things.

My current skimmer transducer on my old Lowrance has no issue reading bottom in 300' at 35-40 MPH.

My Elite 5 DSI loses bottom at 20 MPH.

Hopefully these Garmins read at speed or I'm gonna have a whole herd of finders on my console!!!! :whistling:

  8. I'm putting standing seam metal roofing on my cabin. Most of the fasteners are hidden which reduces the probability of leaks.

It should be still going strong long after I croak!!! :P

They actually make coated metal shingles that look like architectural asphalt shingles but last way longer.

Expect to pay a lot more for something like this though.

  9. Wait a minute..........You call losing in double overtime in game 7 to the defending cup champs choking?????????????????

    :dunno::dunno::dunno:

Do you even know anything about hockey?

You are such a leaf fan!

    :wallbash::wallbash:

If you say that you wouldn't say exactly the same thing if it were the Leafs losing game 7 instead of the Sens you're a liar Matt!!! :tease::tease::tease::tease:

Now you know how we feel with your consant "witty" banter all year long. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

  10. Look at a couple steel posts and a frame to mount them. It would be easier on your roof in the long run and easy to drill a couple epoxy anchors into that rock to hold the posts likely cheaper than what you need for roof mounts as well

Problem is they won't get any sun at all in the late fall through early spring due to trees and rock hills.
