  1. Like most important aspects in nature, feeding, breeding, surviving, are all governed by brute instinct. Kinda like teenage boys once puberty takes hold. No brains required as the hormones take over
  2. A suitable environment for correcting a 'blacklistman' They only banned corporal/physical punishments in the early 70's. Around the same time DI's were told they could not swear at trainees any more.
  3. Patience, persistence, and some of my fave custom harnesses worked real slow.
  4. Another precious little heart stealer is born to turn a grown man into mush Enjoy the bundle of joy
  5. I think the "Bill" looks great. It's not about the artwork anyway. It's about recognizing an achievement. Don't change a thing.
  6. Yup. HE does make the lures. The lure he caught it on is part of the product line. I've got some of the red and whites for bigger pikies.
  7. Grab 2 rods, a lot of topwater lures, senkos and heavy jigs. Grag a google map and start beating the shoreline. You need 2 or 3 days to cover it all.
  8. Beautiful spot to fish. Glad you enjoyed the day.
  9. Looks like another victim of "bucketmouthjohnny's " sweeping hook sets
  10. Got a call from my part time son Matt ( I have several part time sons through Scouting). I'm free, want to go fishing? That invite is always sweet music to my ears. Even sweeter coming from one of the boys. The bite was certainly slow, but we still managed some nice perch and walleye for the table. Even the dinks were avoiding the harnesses today. Not a banner day, but no white stripe. Young Matt
  11. I would never consider a 16 to be a big water boat except on a calm day. Don't take much to end up swimming.

    The Bench

Great compositional photo. What makes it different from the usual land/sea scape is the way in which the line of view is broken. Instead of looking, normally, from bottom to top, toward the horizon line. The fog patch breaks right into the centre of focus and forces the eye to follow the horizontal lines through the entire frame.
  13. I used to work at a garden centre that sold plants and fish for the garden. Every year cottagers would come in and buy new fish. I asked them what happened to the fish bought last year. They released them at the end of cottage season. Now there are all sorts of koi and ornamental carp swimming around Point Abino, the Welland canal, Port colborne. The garden centre, for its part, would not post or display information on releasing exotics or invasive species into the wild. It might affect sales. All across the province people get tired of their aquatic pets, but don't have the heart to kill them. So they release them into the wild instead. Add to that the numerous accidental releases that occcur every year from flooding. Yet the government sees no need to set tighter controls on the exotic pet trade.
  14. The ole timers used to put Ling, Sheephead, dogfish, Sucker, big Shad , Eel, in the smoker. Get the right smoke going and everything tasted good. An I don't care much for any of them.
  15. Cute
  16. Without a boat, there is a lot of fish to catch from shore. Pike are in the bay all the time. Short drives from the park to Whites Falls, the Lift or Pt Severn provide excellent shore fishing opps.
  17. There is a long section of public park along the river. There are smallies and there are pike. Go north out of town to Guelph Lake for greater variety at the CA
  18. I've gone for the sturgeon sleigh ride on the French a few years back. Thought I had snagged rock until it started drawing the tinny downstream. Never once gained on it. Cut him off as he dragged us toward the rapids.
  19. The planet could take the rising CO2 levels in stride a lot more readily if the green forests weren't disappearing as fast as the ice fields, and there is no quick fix for that dilemma.
  20. A fish of a lifetime After a fish like that I'd be ready for the promised land.
  21. Great family show and tell. Doesn't get much better than that. Give the lad a couple more years and he'll be showing you how its done.
  22. Looked like a wonderful family outing. Your wife looks so calm and comfortable around those ski's. My wife half jumps out of the boat when I bring in a nice pike. God knows if we would land a ski
  23. Loved the fish. Loved the pics and story Thank you for sharing your adventure. Definately one of those trips of a lifetime.
  24. At least fans of the Boatmen aren't quite as unbalanced as Leaf fans. Part of our problem would be the multiple concussions inflicted playing High school football I know thats how John Candy got his "funny"
  25. Too bad it does not happen more often.
