  1. Great report, haven't seen chain pics since I was a teen staying with my uncle in NS. New Brunswick is another beautiful province and good fishing to boot.

As for eel. Yeech! The oldtimers would get them in traps and drop them live into a sack of coarse salt. Then they would clean them and either brine them or smoke them.

  2. It's a tough position to be in all of a sudden. Sometimes you choose a new path. Other times a door opens in an unexpected direction and you go where you never dreamed of.

I wanted to join the Reg navy but could not pass the physical, so I did the next best thing back then, time with the reserves on weekends while doing the 9-5 in factories.

Went back and got edumacated and spent 10 years in hospital admin. Then became a contractor and suddenly back to doing what my grandparents first did when they came here, agriculture and Hort! I never thought I would wind up where they began. Truth is it was the most satisfying career.

Long story short. Life can be full of surprises. You've got the attitude and adaptability to make a go of most opps. Have at it.

  3. With running back and forth to hospitals, again :wallbash: , fishing time just isn't in the cards too often. 4 hours this evening were very welcome.

Grabbed the backback and ran to a wee little hotspot tucked away from most along L Gibson. Took a bit to find what needed to be on the menu for dinner, but found they all wanted tubes. Today's sampling.

    And today's monster...

No pigs but a steady lite bite and short strikes, plus a few WGSF's to keep it interesting. All released for another day. Caught just enough though to maintain my sanity for a few more days.

  4. Would be a hoot , if he landed a lunker on one eh...lol. I use Dollarama lures without the hooks on them for the granddaughters to practice their casting and they like to watch them swim. :)

We had a dollarama derby here at OFC last year. Rod , reel and tackle had to be all Dollarama. It was a challenge but do-able.

  5. Hi there. I am not sure if my boat (05' Alumacraft Navigator CS) requires a ladder or not, but I don't want to risk it. I think it will be close to the 1' 8" limit once it is in the water (Have yet to get it out).

Does anyone know where I can get a fold up ladder that goes over the side of the boat around the Hamilton or Welland area. I know Canadian Tire has one, but it looks like a cheapie and is 69.99, which isn't too cheap. I want something decent, but don't want to spend a lot on it because it won't get used a lot.

    Thanks!

pretty sure it's not required for your boat, but a nice convenience when swimming from the boat. I had a folding and stow model. Cost $75.

  6. I got a marine policy with State Farm that was reasonable, yet good coverage. When I sheared my prop shaft, no problem. Work was approved and completed a little more than a week after filing a claim. Rates never went up and stayed $100 below the nearest competitor. The 2 marine insurance companies I talked to quoted $150 over the policy I got. SHOP AROUND

  7. Thats discusting..I still cant belive they do this. I see it all the time afround the norfolk area..No wonder we grow our own food when we can...

Unfortunately, the alternative to manures and other "organic" fertilizers is chemical. What else can you do with the brown waste? put in a landfill it still leaches into the water table. Yes the factory farm uses too much, but that is how they push crops to meet production schedules.

  8. Bought my nephew a dancing gorilla when he was about 6yrs old. He took one look and ran to his room!! Wouldn't come out till I took it back out to the car... .LOL. He grew up just fine :thumbsup_anim:

You exposed him to the dreaded "Macarena Monkey"!!! It's no wonder he ran to his room

  9. Been done here in Ontario in a dozen different manifestations and progressing technologies over the past 40 years. More recent would be Canadian Sportfishing's, OFAH Angler awards, OFC's team event.

Your app is same old thing just on a different delivery media, but becomes almost too vague if applied to a global setting.
