  1. I use Quantum Snapshot SST1 for ice fishing. Can't go wrong with this $15 reel?
  2. I have a Waterskeeter River Tamer Pontoon boat used only 3 times and looks like new and shiney still for $650. You can add a trolling motor on the back as well which I have in the box unopen for $110.
  3. Now that is fishing at it's finest... Great report!
  4. I can't stop laughing at the Cronzy Jr comment. LOL To rephrase the response above what he meant was your entitle to keep fish but try to be more selective when harvesting and please let those big guys/gals swim another day. Those smaller bass would of been much better tasting. Nice picture at any rate!!!
  5. The only reason why you can land a fish faster when hooked in the mouth regardless of what line your using is because you can steer the fish to the direction you want faster with control period no scientific facts here. It's common sense really! Next time you go to the creek get your stop watch out with pen and paper collect your data and report back with your findings. When hooked in the tail or any part of the body I can assure you it will take double the time to land when compared to a fish hook a fish hooked in the mouth. Seriously though if you have a fouled hooked fish you should break if off or land it immiediately and not minutes later. Also, by the time you land a fouled hooked fish I can assure you the fish will be good as dead caused from the unneccesary stress especially with the warm water temps, it might swim away momentarily but by the end of the day it'll be a floater. Best of luck!
  6. Excellant report Ramble on!!!
  7. My buddy has a 15ft legend and it's a great boat. You can't beat the price either!!! As mentioned above you need to get a motor close to 80% of the maximum hp rating to get your boat on plane otherwise it's gonna be a rough ride if it's choppy.
  8. To get to the point, regardless of length it's basically the construction of the rod that will differentiate the offset in price. Such as higher modulus construction will make the rod lighter more responsive yet brittle when whacked against a rock or something. If used properly and well taken care of than no need to worry! You can't really say a salmon rod is cheaper than a rainbow rod because it's not true and you can get some nice beefy float rods that's is stronger than any type of steelhead rods that you can grab off the counters and still be relatively light. Balancing the rod is another key aspect between a tip heavy rod and a well balance rod which is a whole different subject. A lot of people are getting into the custom tied rods for more strength or just not happy with factory wraps etc... ultimately it's to have there own personal touch to say it's custom. Whatever the reason it may be... If your fishing for salmons in the creeks it will be a challenge to land if you get a fresh fish. Like discussed thick line in shallow water spooks fish right? If I were you just grab a rod for pier fishing rod and save your money unless your fishing big bodies of water where it will allow you to use a 12ft /13ft rod with lots of backbone and to be able to use heavy leaders without spooking fish. Personally if I were to target fresh salmon I chase them closer to the lake side even if it means fishing from shore. That's where the fun is to have those brutes peel line without worrying about overhung tress etc.... Damn typed to much, any questions or not clear just ask away
  9. It's a Chinny with out a doubt
  10. Nice job Ryan! I see you and the Lund are getting together quite nicely
  11. Show me those fish that's giving you a hard time and I'll show you how to land them with my flippin stick.
  12. Bring a helmet and facemask protector just incase one of the bigger brutes jump on to lap and highjack your yak with trebles poking you. LOL
  13. You guys make it look so easy
  14. Looks like everybody had fun. Great camp site!
  15. Spectacular report with just enough words. The pictures says it all... I'm coming with you next time.
  16. Those seats are like Recaros... Congrats on your purchase!
  17. It's been a wet year no doubt about that but honestly, I've been having a great season. To sum it up I got more quality then quantity.
  18. Your absolutely right about what happened to Simcoe on the ice and soft water is no different. Honestly, I will never post any GPS location on cyber world naming the smaller lakes is bad enough already way to many lurkers around. You might think I'm selfish but I have seen the negative outcome from a few open mouths from people alone so this idea might not be so great but hey, that's my opinion. I think fishing reports in general without being to specific is more than enough to get people started including those who's never fished before. The lakes here are not that big where you need other peoples GPS co-ordinates but sure it would be nice. Topo maps gives you plenty of info. If that is not enough go ask a tackle store or nearby marina on that lake for a current report on fish activity. In my opinion to increase your success rate of catching more fish is education and knowledge before you go out buying all the fancy equipment. This time of the year people target Bass, Pickeral, Perch, pike, muskies etc... Ask yourself this what do they feed on at this time of the year? What type of habitat do they like? What dept of water? What temperature makes these fish active or inactive etc... etc... Knowing these answers will make you become a better all around angler on any given lakes and not just one lake. If you still can't catch fish I would suggest a reservour, provincial park or even a fish farm to build some confidence. If this doesn't interest you perhaps a guide? Sure it cost money but you can learn tons of information in a few hours oppose to surfing the net all day or months. Paul from Cast Adventure 1-888-512-8127 guides Lake Erie and Niagara. If you don't like to fish those waters and like the Kawarthas and surroundings than Peter from FishCrazy (647) 227-2208 is your man. Another question for you is IF somebody gave you there GPS co-ordinates how accurate do you think it is? It might send you to the shallow water and tear out your lower unit on your motor... then what? If this sounds harsh I appologize but these are things to keep in mind... Happy fishing!!!
  19. That 15 lbs largemouth is a beast. Great job! lol
  20. Any hooks will rust when soaked in water for a long period of time especially when it's in a box of some sort. You need to air out your soaked boxes and lures after each outting. Jigheads will rust the quickest and it will spread the rust through out your tackle box when soaked together. To avoid rust you can add some oil on the hooks but I personally just keep everything as dry as possible and if it gets wet dry it out the same night asap. Also, no need to wade up to chest high not only it's a safety issue, your gear will get wet.
