refs are out of control and have become way too much of a factor in deciding a game, I don't think that should have been a penalty shot, probably not even a penalty at all in OT, as an example

The Magic Lure, anyone recognize this spoon?
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
I bought 5 of the 3.5 inch brass/ orange directly from Lucky Strike and tried to put a bend (undulation) in them myself, but yeah, definitely not the same, not even close. -
It's a big lake but it does receive some pressure. I've seen quite a few groups of guys who tow their boats in, set up camp in Barclay Bay and fish all week, that's their yearly fishing trip. You say you're comfortable with back country camping, it might be worthwhile to head to the far north west corner of the lake and set up camp there. I have never ventured that far and I'm pretty sure not many people do.

Thanks Snidley and Dave 524. You still have a few as well as one it's original package eh Snidley. That would be cool if you could post a picture. I did some googling too and the Ticknovich brothers seem to be quite the entrepreneurs, lots of patents and trademarks. -

I don't use it because it has become a keepsake now Albert, weird, nostalgia. The Lucky Strikes don't have the curve, or wave shape. We think it was Krinkles or Wrinkles, usually copper/ orange, I think $3.49 at CT. -

how much $ do you want for them Billy? lol -
In Jame's fly in report there's a picture of a spoon. I'm pretty sure it's a red and white version of what me and some people I fish with call the "magic lure". Here's mine, it's retired, I won't use it anymore because I don't want to lose it. They don't make them anymore, they were sold at CT and maybe elsewhere, my cousin still has 2, he says they're branded wrinkles or krinkles. When I wasn't using it, buddies in the boat would borrow it and hammered fish. The one I retired caught so many and big fish I had to retire it in the off season, lol. Years ago when the weren't sold anymore, I went to BPS and asked a sales guy about it, he said "wow, you're the third guy this month to describe something like that , no clue though". Anyone else recognize the bait or have any love for it?

Hide'n out in Haliburton report, Lac Sack
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Chuck actually deserved that fish. It was his reconnaissance that put us on that lake. Colin's snowmobile got us in there. So I think it all worked out as it should- Chris, skunk, Colin, pan sizer, Chuck, tanker. -
That could be the Ontario record "twig" brook trout. What a tank! Damn, makes me want to go back lake ice fishing asap.

It's been a long time, but that's one of my favorite PPs. Do's- bring everything you need so you don't have to drive back to Chapleau - check out Fairy Point for pictographs and Whitefish Falls Don'ts- leave food around your campsite, maybe things have changed, but when I would go there it was always black bear city. Driving in one time when the dandelions had just started, I counted 13 bears along the road, mostly singles.

The first days fish are stocked brookies. The splake, with the genotype/ phenotype thing you never know what they are going to look like. I don't know where the picture is, but we had one that reminded me of a pink salmon. One was spewing roe, they're just weird, mutant hybrid beasts. GMO at it's best, lol. -
With the brutally cold weather on hiatus, it was time to venture deep into the bush. With a snowmobile towing a sled, we crossed sketchy ice on a river, got the whole rig stuck in a marsh and splashed through an open water creek. It was a lot of effort but our hopes were high. We set up on a fast breaking shore with a beaver lodge. It wasn't long until Colin got bit and promptly broke off. Then my set line started bouncing but remained in place. Chuck was tending his tip up when his line started to peel. He iced a titanic brookie and removed 2 hooks from it's mouth, his and Colin's. That fish came early and had already made the day a success. On day 2 the balmy weather continued and we went searching for splake into the wilds of Muskoka. My Dad turned 74 today but he rode the snowmobile like a champ, hiked through the hilly bush and chased bouncing tip ups on slippery ice with speed and agility. I hope I'm in similar shape when I hit that age. 2 fish weren't suitable for being released but they didn't go to waste. I guess it was my turn at being the angler of the day when I lucked into a monster splake that seemed to take forever to subdue and bring onto the ice. I popped the hook out, no blood, a couple pictures and sent him back down the hole.

anyone else notice Kypreos' new potential line combos in the pregame show, pretty much exactly what I would try, Babcock's too proud to give in to Matthews/ Marner on the same line.

I know some guys consider the Leafs a force, I think it's going to be a struggle just to get into the playoffs, same as last season. At the half way point, the Leafs would finish with a projected 96 points and 95 is the usual threshold to make the playoffs, and I think they were achieving more than they deserved in the first half of the season. I'm not really digging Babcock and I expected he would have had the team playing better at this point.

Leafs are looking lackluster of late and fading in the standings. It's time to right the ship boys!

A lot of us dream about owning a fishing lodge or outfitting business. For most of us that's all it amounts to, dreaming. Well, my buddy jmeyer (Jason) recently bribed his wife, threw caution into the wind, dismissed all the headaches that are inevitably on their way and took the plunge head first into the outfitting business. Some people dream, some people talk, some people actually do stuff. He's got 3 camps so far and is looking for more. There's a lot of crap for sale on a lot of dud lakes. The 3 Jason picked up are really cool, each in their own way. There's always pike, walleye and bonus brook trout at any camp. 2 Mile is a drive to on the Little Current River. Lots of water, fly in quality fishing and privacy at a dirt cheap rate. Balson Lake is a sleeper cell in brook trout country with access to the section of the Dusey River and lake Mike has fished. Ogoki River has access to Ogoki and Kayedon Lakes, lots of legendary water to explore. Jason, Chuck, Adam, me and a couple others are going to Ogoki in late August this year, it should be epic. I dug up some of my old Ogoki pictures to pump the guys up. 2 Mile is probably intriguing to some guys here because it's cheap, it's fly in quality fishing and fly in quality privacy but at a cheap price and when you run out of beer you can just waste half a day and go get more. Show Jason some love. Oh yeah, Jason wanted me to mention what song I was listening to at the time, that would be luke bryan
