Since you like trolling..... don't forget the Storm Lures Original Hot'N Tot Hot'N Tot The one shown at the top of the page is my favorite They are killer for eyes
-
Terry I just wasn't sure if you had seen them but now I know.... greatest little walleye gadget on the planet Good luck on your trip
-
Terry, I'm sure you've seen those on the CTC shelves.... sort of like a drop shot setup but more robost Once you locate those eyes, give the pickerel rig a shot.... I'm sure you'll like them They are the perfect setup when anchored Jacques Here's a link for the specks of it Pickerel Rig

I've never been on a fly-in but the way I fish for walleye is as follows: I use a 1/4oz jig with twister tail tip with live leech or worm in shallow waters and 1/2oz in deeper / current waters. My preferred jig color is white, chartreuse for twister tail (the double twister is even better) Once on the fishing grounds, I like to drift and jig.... making bottom contact is key.... not into trolling much. On windy days, use of a trolling motor is bonus to keep boat position and also to keep your vertical presentation on Q... A marker booey is good to have.... once you start catching them, throw it over board so not to loose the hot spot. Another method I've used is anchored using a pickerel rig that you can purchase at CTC or Walmart.... I rig both hooks with live leeches.... trick is to keep contact with bottom.... any pickerel / fish in the vicinity will get them to strike.... lots of fun when you can hook into 2 at a time Don't forget that those pickerel rigs require bell sinkers so you may want to purchase a small container if you don't have any. Hope this helps and have a great time on your trip:) Jacques

It sure was a lot of fun to watch our lures get violently strike on surface Unfortunately the camera was not used didn't want to cut on my fishing time Next time I'll try to get a few videos of the action... it was INCREDIBLE to say the least

Great way to spend a couple of hours Simon Yesterday, went for an afternoon of wally hunting with Paul and caught a couple of saugers on jig and twister tail tipped with a dewie... when the bite died down, targetted largies in the shallows..... 3 hours of none stop action until sun set Jitter bug and skitter pop was the lures of choice.... even got 4 nice bass in 4 casts Total tally for the evening was over 50 largies boated between the two of us Thanks for sharing Jacques Edited to say: Mepps Black Furry is a very versatile lure.... It catches fish period of different species

Well folks, another long awaited time for me to finally get to try my spinnerbaits I had made last fall.... yesterday was the day, Paul and I targeted the Ottawa River in search of some Pike since bass was not open yet (June 23rd ) for a couple of hours The plan was to go today but the forecast calling for rain and thunderstorm got us to go yesterday after work... Rain was coming down lightly throughout the afternoon and as soon as I got home it was still raining but Paul's car and boat was parked in front of the house so I knew right then and there we were going out no matter what Got the gear out to the car and the way we go. Rain was still slightly coming down but it didn't matter... once at destination, got Paul's boat launched and I immediately tied on a white & pink tip spinnerbait Haven't been in that part of the river a couple of years and it sure was nice to be back there Didn't take long for the action to start once we located them We tried casting to shore but the weeds had grown to a phenomenal length so we decided to target the outside of the weed edge and low and behold they were there waiting to smash our offerings We went 8 for 20 (snot rockets) Paul got 6 and I got 2 on my spinnerbait (chartreusse & orange tip) Paul even got an OOS LMB that was release at boat side (man if only it was 4 - 5 hours later ) All pike were released and not picture worthy but Paul got a shot of one I caught and I'm sure will post it later Right now, were into a thunderstorm and thankful we didn't decide to go out today Now for some garden update.... well it's been a month since I planted the tomatoes, sweet peppers, wax beans, cucumbers and zucchinies.... here are the pics of it: Tomatoes quatriple in size and have already started to blossom Wax beans enjoyed the hot sun and came out to peek Peppers are doing great too Even have fruits on the plants Cucumbers started to run Zuchinnies are doing fine I even cut the top of the garlic to reinforce the heads Even the Macintosh apple tree is doing great Lots of fruits on it That is all for now.... oh tomorrow is Québec National holiday and I have the day off Guess where I'm going.... yep out FISHING Hope you enjoy Tight lines Leechman
