Thanks Jim!!! She impress me with her thoughtful message for her grand dad Thanks Brian!!! The man is so gifted that, every piece that we have in our home have a new meaning now. The void he has created will hard to overcome.

Richard, I do get what you are getting at... but seems that for some, inches and biggest is the way to go. I have no problems with that. With the current format, if you don't get a bigger fish... well, mind as well quit and go with the flow & cheer for the team. TJunkie

Mike, Gatineau got hit pretty good too Just a couple hours from you but we got some Look at my Christmas tree in the front yard and the shrub near the entrance Poor BBQ is doomed Not cleaning the deck... no friggin way I can keep it clean too if I want to Hope you had a great Christmas! Jacques

Looks like my idea of points is out the window... thought I'd make suggestions to a new format but for some it's too much to ask Ah well I tried TJunkie I'm out
-
Some good points here also but I'm trying to stay away from making categories cause those did not exist in the old tournament format. I don't see why this is a big deal... you go out fishing, catch pike, walleye, bass, catfish, sun fish, perch, take a pic with sign and submit it. Simple to me
-
Yep, one pic per species to get points Good points Mike! Bill no, not lenght... if you caught 2 15in perch, only one would count for that day and why not? Take the measurement out, not required and only one fish per species per day
-
In the old way, there wasn't categories to begin with... why add them to this? Yep! I totally understand your point but put yourself in a kids place and catching dinky bass and perch and being able to submit them for points for any team, is a positive way to participate in an adult tournament.
-
It would put them in a severe disadvantage in the old or new propose way, doesn't matter.
-
I understand what you are saying Mike... In your case, since you go out fishing a lot more then any of us, yes you will have to submit more pics then any of us but think of a kid that only gets to fish a few times a year and when he does, can submit what he caught... with the old format, he would just have to forget about it. discouraging him to try for something bigger. No, once you have a pic of a specie with the sign, others you catch can be quickly released, no need for pics then.
-
Hey soobnoob this is what it's all about... bringing ideas and sharing them I'm just suggesting simple ones to let the shore fishers and kids have a chance to submit their catches... total points vs inches makes it more accessible for them
-
All rules from previous tournaments applies... this format takes out the measuring of fish so that when you are fishing and catch something, only a pic with your sign in it is required... taking out the stress to the fish of having measure it.
-
-
So Chris you agree it's a good idea
-
Here's what I propose: All same rules apply from previous years, so nothing changes, instead of adding longest fish, you get 1 point for each species of fish caught per day. You're only allowed 1 fish per species per day. Members are responsible for having a tournament sign in their picture taken of their catch and submitting it to their Captain. Captains are responsible for submitting their teams catches every month to organiser. Organiser updates the tournament score card every month. The most points wins it. That simple. What you think? Jacques
-
Bring your thoughts and ideas... I'd much see points then inches in the same format. What you think?
-
My idea was a little blurry... Team format stays the way it is, you need your tournament sign for pics, you can register only one fish per species a day, you get one point for each fish caught per species a day. Member of team submit their catches to captains, and captains of each team submit every month to their tournament chef / tournament organiser. Tournament score card is updated monthly. Simple, it's the same format as previous tournaments but instead of adding inches, it's points Everyone on any team can contribute. Jacques

He sure was Rick. His legacy will live on through us all. Thanks Christopher! Daughter's words were on part with how we all felt that moment. His art work will be cherish for ever. Thanks Dave! Very kind words mon ami!

I'd like to stir things up a bit... Team format should stay and instead of adding inches with biggest fish... you get a point for a fish caught... members are to send their captain the results and monthly, captains sends their accumulated results to the tournament organiser / chef in charge. Very simple and everyone has the feeling of participating to the team... I know it's a lot more work but most importantly, fish spend less time out of the water and can be released quickly Just my thoughts Jacques

Thank you Doug!!! Very kind of you. ************************************************************************ Father in law was very passionate about art work... His specialty was photography, painting and carving. This passion drove him to create all kinds of unique pieces for his kids and grand kids. He was so great at it that I just had to share some of his work with you all (and this just a fraction of what he has accomplished) but first some details that is important I mention. He was an advertising manager by trade, working for private local companies, creating what he could and doing his job. Some may remember a company from Ottawa, Marisson Lamothe Inc. who was mainly producing bread back in the 60's.... you can read all about it here Marisson Lamothe Inc. One of his idea that he created and was adopted by the company was a plastic tie that kept the plastic bags closed for the bread when they came out from the assembly line He then moved on the work for another local company called Dustbane... You can read all about it here Dustbane Products Limited Here again, was in charge of advertising, producing a whole lot of stuff that he enjoyed immensely.... I remember one night, coming to see his daughter (my wife) and showed me one of his prototype vacuum that he had to build out of plasticine for his meeting the next day.... was I ever impressed Well enough of the rambling cause I could go on for ever... here are some of his work... first, our wedding gift, picture taken by him and had it framed Next, a couple of paintings he did for us that is being displayed in our living room Individual shots Next another painting for our dining room wall He always had a special bond with my daughter, so he made a rose This and this Angels, one of many for his daughter miniture type His passion for birds was out of this world... here a hummingbird, sipping on a flower out of wood More birds He also made other things that were useful Hope you guys enjoy Want to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas & happy New Year! Thank you so very much for the condolences and wishes, it means a lot to my family and I. I want to say thank you to Skeeter for being so generous and kind for sending a pm with a translated version of the message my daughter had written... Also to Spiel for posting it, thank you Chris! I've tried several times last night to do it but every time I broke down Today, after reading this thread, was able to do it... Updated the first thread. Mélissa and her grand father had a very special bond and she instinctively wrote a message about her feelings at the time this had happened... I'm so very proud of her Last night, wife, daughter and I had our very first meal together in a long time and it was great to be able to sit down at our dinner table and enjoy Thanks again to all from the bottom of my heart! It's been a bumpy ride for my wife's family this past few weeks with my father in law battling against the big C, especially at this time of year, not easy to cope with. My role this time around was opposite of what it was 3 years ago, when my dad was fighting his own battle... support for my wife and daughter was priority. Suffice to say, the battle ended yesterday at 4h20pm. A huge burden was lifted off the shoulders of the in laws and family knowing his suffering had ended. Last night, my daughter stayed at my mother in law's home to care for her while we, wife and I went home to have a decent night sleep (not much sleep the last week or so). Want to say thank you to those that sent me condolences via pm and status on main page... Very much appreciated! Like to leave you with my daughters last thoughts of her grand dad and hope you can understand French: "R.I.P. mon cher grand-père adoré.. ♥" English version R.I.P. my adored grandfather.. : '( Today you have left us for a better world without suffering .. I hope you're well up there. Because seeing you suffering that way, was breaking my heart. It wasn't easy to see you in this state, nor to see you go. You were everything to me, I still can not believe you're gone for good. It is so difficult to live without your presence. I'm going to be bored not being able to spend time with you. I would like to thank you once again for all the things that you have taught me and the values you have transmitted over the years. Someone as special as you are hard to find and I am very proud that you were part of my life. I love you so very much my adored grandfather and will forever! ♥ Again, thank you OFC! Jacques

Rick, You and I have been thrown a curve ball this holiday season and have very similar support roles to play... Father in law is battling very hard right now, been administered to the emergency yesterday morning and has not much time left... My wife, wife's brother and sister have taken shifts to stay at his bed side. The hardest part is seeing the suffering this terrible decease is causing to this great man (picture a 5'10" 150Lbs human being reduce to under 100Lbs)... terribly hard to understand how and doesn't make sense. Christmas for us this year will not be the same as years past, where joy and fun took precedence, if anything, will bring our family closer then ever before. I wish you and your family courage in these hard times ahead... spend as much time as you can with him and cherish every moments... keep the happy ones close to your heart. Best wishes for the holiday season Jacques
