  1. Well, peppermint is a hybrid: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppermint
  2. There's peppermint and spearmint.
  3. Now the driver has been charged with impaired. I hope he loses his license for life. Won't happen, but it would be nice.
  4. That's a painted, but it's still a good line!
  5. Used to do that when we were kids, but not with a rod and reel, just a few feet of line and hook and worm.
  6. In my other hobby I built this a few years ago. I'm sure some of you will get the reference: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal8/7001-7100/gal7054-Hovercraft-Bailey/00.shtm
  7. I wish I had known this guy, seems like a really fun chap: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/07/28/terry-siebert-leafs-obituary_n_5626699.html?utm_hp_ref=tw
  8. Dang, I missed a golden opportunity!
  9. Driving down from Kirkland Lake to Toronto yesterday, stopped at a roadside picnic area to stretch my legs. Sauntered down to the river to check out the fishing possibilities, near where a woman was standing with two children. Noticed a wild raspberry bush, so I plucked off a couple of juicy ones and popped them in my mouth. She: (with furrowed brow): "What are you eating?" Me: "Wild raspberries!" She: (furrowed brow and frightened sneer): "What?" Me: "Wild raspberries." Plucked another off and showed it to her. Child: (with a slight look of wonder) "Mom, can I have some?" She: (with confused shaking of head) "No, no, I don't want you eating wild stuff." (leads them away from obviously crazy person) Now, there are good reasons to teach your children not to eat whatever they find in the wild, some can be poisonous. But she couldn't even recognise a wild raspberry, and not even when I showed one to her. How the hell do people become that detached from nature?
  10. New pill: Novo pheniram. Ask for it at the pharmacist's counter. Inexpensive, and very effective. Last spring my allergies were so bad that I was doubling up on Aerius and still getting very little relief. Started the Novo pheniram and within 24 hours I was back to normal.
  11. Cool! The MNR would be interested in the details, on page 89 of the regs there's a request for sightings. They would like the following info: Location/waterbody caught/seen Date/Time of day Approximate water depth Estimate of length Bait used Name, phone, e-mail, photograph You can contact them at 1-800-667-1940
  12. It's actually a small lake beside Highway 69. Silent Lake is tonight.
  13. Just grabbed a few quick pics while the Sun set. Liked this one.
  14. Ran a bass tournament there for a few years, some were suggesting it should have been a pike tournament instead. A lot of them in there. I've only shore fished at the narrows, but I'm sure others will know some spots. You could also try the Dalrymple section at the Kawartha Anglers board, I don't think you have to be a member to just look: http://www.kawarthaanglers.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=47&sid=4218d5a2366b5832992ed018b654cf81
  15. Just Googled for pics of that Shift'r Shad, looks rather like a, Xzone Swammer, which I have.
  16. No fish finder, just a canoe and maybe the Zodiac.
  17. Never fished for them in my life, but I'll have a chance this weekend. We're heading to Silent Lake PP, and allegedly there are lakers in there. I know I have to go deeeeep, but that's about it. Don't bother with suggestions on rods, reels, or line choices, I'm limited in that regard to what I've got. I'm looking for lure choices and set-ups. Oh, and please, keep it simple, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer!
  18. Sounds cool, but we'll be camping this weekend. I've posted that on my facebook page, thanks for the info!
  19. The ships are impressive enough, but those giant mutant swans are mind-blowing!
  20. Just watched it again, and I can't tell if the snout is pointed or not. The shape of the fin and the ridge behind it seems more like some species of cetacean. The closest occurring whale to Lake Ontario would probably be the beluga, but they don't have a dorsal fin.
  21. A bull shark was once caught in the Mississippi at Alton, Illinois. They can get quite far inland.
