I will keep you posted oldPhart, right up till friday night. Just keep looking on here. Johnny bass.....I have caught steelies in the whilrpool right up till mid June before, depends on how cold the water can stay. Alot different than the little creeks as it takes longer for Lake Erie and the river to warm. Late April right thru to mid May is the best thou. Once all the ice from Lake erie and the niagara ice bridge are gone and Lake erie starts to warm up. I usually get about 2.5-3.5 weeks of rest from Steelies to bass. Hope this helps!

someone was a good boy over the winter months...LOL

For anyone wanting to come to the whirlpool don't bother...packed with ice. Current was keeping it in there too...not much getting washed out. Some ice might leave tonight with the water flow going down but with the warm temps the ice bridge is gonna start melting now and it will be unfishable for about a week or so!

I spread mine out.....cause I fish the Niagara and have to cast far sometimes and I find that with the split shots spread out there is less of a chance of the line twisting up together when you cast out!

very nice looking boat there!

Nice one Bud...first of all you know nothing about me so I wouldn't call me a bandwagon jumper. And as far as the fan thing goes, I watch more hockey than you could imagine, I even watch Ottawa and Montreal games and I hate those teams. I have no idea where you get the idea that I a bandwagon jumper. Its people like you calling others names and stuff that get guys mad in hockey posts. Gotta love the "INTERNET TOUGH GUYS". As for McCabe he is an avarage player. And he took as much money as they gave him, you guys would do the same thing. What about all the cheap shots Steve Downey has done just this year. Don't see anyone on his case. This was started by a Montreal fan that hates the Leafs and is nothing more than a useless thread!

from shore or boat? Water is prime near queenston and very clear above the power plants. Queenston is good for bottom bouncing a 3 way rig. The Glen area and whirlpool area is good for float fishing. Bring2-4 pound lead for the Glen...water is uper clear right now. Get there before the ice boom is taken out, once that happens river will be shot for a week or so.

well if Montreal and Ottawa fans spent as much time cheering there team on as they do bashing the Leafs.....they might actually be as dedicated a fan base as Leaf fans are! The rivalry to me between these teams is not on the ice its in the stands! Brutal how bad you fans are towards the Leafs. Come West team in the cup....lets kick some butt!!
-
And on another note on the game.....I flipped over to the game after watching the Caps win and I was in the kitchen and heard the "OLE" song and thought I had accidentaly put on a soccer game. What's with that anyway. Just makes me Laugh very hard at Habs fans. Do they even have a soccer team in Montreal.

yep..they did awsome the second half of the season....It would be a tragedy if Ovechkin doesn't get MVP. He deserves it for sure.

I would go with Samsung...great product...aslo LG has a 50" for $1499. But there are much better tv's

yes it was a terrible thing that McCabe did...but I hardly doubt he got beat. The rookie missed most of his punches.

Like I said previously...your best bet would be the Niagara river. From the Glen to the Whirlpool area you have over 3km of shoreline to fish....many, many spots. Float fishing the niagara and hookin into a big steelie rivals any creek or small river anywhere. -

Niagara river is big and wide open....not many guys around too!! -
If you go to Cayo coco...you only have a about a 10-15 minutes drive....if you go to Royal Hideaway in Santa Clara it is almost a 2 hour drive to the hotel. I have been to both....the beaches are awsome....but if you go near Club Tryp in Cayo coco...there are some small coral reefs right off the beach...pretty good for snorkeling and taking under water pics.

if you launch on canadian soil and just fish the US side all you need is your NY state fishing licence. You only need to check in with customs if you step onto US soil. But you should have valid photo ID just in case.

I would like to know where your getting a mortgage of $150K for $375 per month.....might need to change to that company...LOL. Cause my mortgage is less than that and almost double monthly.....LOL
-
the thing you mentioned about Mortgage free and closer to your cottage would make me jump all over that. After a week you wouldn't notice the travel. You will save huge money just having no Mortgage. plus you will be able to hit the cottage more often.

best bet I think would be to buy jigs in darker colours..like black and brown...buy a bunch and cover all the basics.

when I first started to learn to bottom bounce for steelies in the niagara....I went 4 weeks and 4 days. Went fishing everyday for at least a minimum of 6 hours a day. But I will tell you I will never forget my forst steelie!
