  4. ahhh man, shhhhh!!!! We went 8 for 12 today, will toss a couple pic up later
  5. ya that launch is always open..I just got back from there best baits of the day....black scum frogs twitched off the top of the ice chunks just like fishing bass in the lilies
  6. awee..you poor guys had to wear your coats how many times did you had to chip the ice of the eyes of your rod, or did your bow mount get all flash frozen the first time you took it in and out of the water for the day way to go for our team GCD we will soon be hitting the 200 mark...we haven't even got any really big fish on the board yet...and we got some great anglers on the team that know where to find them
  7. congrats and best wishes on the great new addition to your family. and nice choice of name for the little guy
  8. $800 seems like a pretty fair market value for the trailer, I looked into one for my 14 foot tinner(bought just the boat at the time/no trailer) and all the quotes I was given for the trailer come in at around $800. If you can try and negotiate for a spare tire, go for it...most tires on rims for that size trailer will probably run about $70-$80 but keep in mind with an $800 purchase, that would be 10% value of the deal
  9. funny you say that....when we first got our Legend in 2003, it was the first boat my family ever had with a bowmount electric. It took a bit of getting used to at first. I got a bit of a laugh when you said you got frustrated and would pick it up and use your hand, when I first started using ours,if I was trying to get into a really tight area to fish I would just kneel down on the front casting deck and fish with one hand and use my other hand to steer the boat It's just a matter of practice is all getting used to how it steers and used to the "throttle pedal" at the same time, just set the "power/speed from 1-10" at the the lowest setting you need to move the boat well in the conditions you are fishing in this way when you step on the throttle pad you don't jerk the boat around too bad, then at the same time, just adjust your steering accordingly with little shots at a time as opposed to having the on/off switch on steadily. Also keep in mind when doing lots of steering, that on the head of the motor, the thinner part of the "oval" is the part that points in the direction the boat will move...if you have trouble figuring that out, put a little sticker or paint an arrow on it, I have seen guys do this before. You will get used to it in no time, it's just practice is all, soon you will find yourself throwing a seat up the bow and kicking back on it, running the electrics all day long and having a great time catching more fish simply because you can get a better natural presentation with good boat control.
  10. I watched a CO before pinch someone for fishing with no liscence..he pointed to a rod that was in the water, asked if it was the guy who just got pinched rod. The guy tells him yes. The CO picks up the rod, looks at it funny, then flips it upside down and reeled it in , it was pretty funny.....can't handle a spinning outfit, but he was sportin' a side arm and bulletproof vest
  11. try a couple out in a small container for a couple days......if ya got 5 tubs and they are taking up too much room, I would gladly take one of the tube of "juice" of your hands next time I see ya
  12. gotta love it....looks like you guys got into some great fish
  13. nice new ride Lew, I bet you can't wait to put years of fishin in that
  14. I was there when he cut the fish open so we could see what was in it's stomach..it was a 15 1/2 inch bullhead
  15. 52 inch musky...ventured behind the island across the lake from my trailer, I just stopped the boat, took a cast while my brother and brother-in-law where still setting up thier lines. First cast blammo...I hooked into a fish I knew was a big one!!! I got a look at the fish and much to my surpize it was a big musky, I had it hooked on my med action 7 footer rod with 8lb test and no leader. On a spinner bait-black/yellow skirt-willow/colrado blade combo with a 6 inch white twiter for a trailer. The fish started to pull the boat close the island into fairly shallow water, my brother says he should start up the boat and move us a bit...I yelled no way!!!! if you start the motor that fish will freeak out and be gone like a rocket...he asks what he should do then..I say, there are 2 of you, grab a paddle each and move the boat We finally get the thing in the boat, it is huge, I make the quick choice of possibly keeping it for a mount or not, my brother says he will go halves, I say ya, but I gotta see if I can afford the other half when we get back to camp The fish only fit half way into my livewell ( I have pics but not on digital, will scan when I find them and add to post) We are gunning it back to camp while my brother-in-law has his foot on the livewell lid because half the fish is still hanging out of it! We boot back in to camp as I am yelling...GET THE CAMERA!!!!... there came about 15 people over to my camp site to check it out, everyone got a decent thrill of the big one I caught..my neighbour came over with a nice cold beer for me, i chugged it, then off to the taxidermist I went. Was pretty exciting, at the time-2003, that was my biggest musky to date...it is my one and only trophy I will keep! since then I have caught a couple bigger, but that is the only one I will sacrifice for the wall
  16. that's hillarious man, I could use me one of those kind of sandwiches right about now..I am going nuts from not being able to go fishing for like 10-11 days great report,I don't know where you come up with these demented repotrs, but keep em coming man, they are a laugh and a half
  17. I think it's more like a lifestyle I probably spend upwards of 175-200 days fishing a year, with the occassional dry spell, average 1-2 days per week in the winter months, and 3-4 days a week in the summer months.
  18. cool wasn't sure how that worked, they say you learn something new every day...thanks good luck on the project.looks like a bit of work for sure
  19. here is a silly question in regards to your post....just a question so please don't try and take anything the worng way You stated this is an insurance write-off...if so, is it even legal to sell such a thing again?..just wondering, be it a car, truck, boat whatever, just curious because it was already written off
  20. mines always ready to go 12 months a year, so basically fill up the gas, top up the oil and off she goes
  21. yahoo, now that's some hardcore fishin right there gotta live winter on the big river , last time I was out there in my boat we had to do all of idle speed to get around there was so many ice cubes. Your pics really describe some of the rigours of winter fishing all the way..everything gets flash frozen...I use silicon lube on my bow mount and my seat posts top help with everything getting stuck in the winter..works great. been there done that a few times over the years on the river Hot coffee eh????, I am gonna have to ask Paul about that one next time I see him on the water , by some of your pics looks like it's gonna take a while to unthaw the Yammy boat off the trailer
  22. go with the better reel all the way!!!!, something with a "longcast" spool and a really smooth drag. To be honest you don't have to break the bank to get a decent combo, you can often find combos for 90-120 bucks and you get a decent rod and a good reel. Quantum and Shimano both make decent combos in that price range for example
  23. that's brutal man, I hope the MNR got news of that for sure and they just incriminated themselves on film as evidence
  24. I agree, the spinner baits are big enough that I rarely get any spinner baits bitten off by pike and muskies as well
