  1. My friend just got an Airedale in the spring so Hobo had a companion. Found some pike on the trip too..
  2. I visit the Yukon every year and sleep with my 45/70. A wall tent for a bear is just a 1.3 second inconvenience to a meal. The picture is from Haines, Alaska this September Mom and two cubs fishing for pinks and The second photo is my Karelian Bear Dog Hobo
  3. Sorry to miss lead you guys but I did pay for Hobo.. Just thought because his name was Hobo I wouild make a funny store for his intro. I do appreciate the concern in the PM's as I would want my lost dog back too. Here's anpther pic!!
  4. Everybody this is a Hobo who's name is Hobo! I found this vagrant wondering the tracks so I decided to give him a meal and a warm bed and he hasnt left since.. He claims to be a Karelian Bear Dog and promises to protect me against any unruly bruins. All I need todo is feed and shelter him for the next 13-15 years... I'm in!!!!!!! :clapping:
  5. Taro Rocks!!! and he's got a new boat. The fish in my avator was caught while fishing with Taro.
  6. Vacationing for a month. My cousin lives in a semi remote area off the Klondike hwy, no electricty or running water.. Also heading to Skagway Alaska for king salmon and Atlin lake for pike..
  7. Since we are on the topic of bears and I'm heading to the Yukon in June for a month I will be carrying my 1895 45-70 Marlin GS for Bear defence. Last September I visited for two weeks and where ever we went my cousin carried a Remington 870 Marine Shotgun. He also lost a good friend to a Grizzly attack a few years ago while working in the remote widerness of the Yukon. I have carried bear spray and I know this can be very affective in the right situation but I would rather have the firearm, atleast its a fair fight now.. Does anybody else carry a firearm in remote areas? and if so what type of firearm?
  8. Bottom left side of the pan you can see some flake. You need a prospector's license to pan for gold but if your equipment is small enough your considered recreational. This spot is up the road from my cousins, that river is the Wheaton River and its where we get are drinking water. Thanks for the comments.
  9. My trip to the Yukon in September for two weeks. Fishing wasn't the greatest but everything else was amazing. So amazing that I will be moving there at the end of May 2013
  10. I've been having trouble with 1988 chevy c1500 305 V8 2wd When I start the truck for the first time and go to drive, it wants to stall and sputters but as soon as the truck is up to temperature it runs great.. This week I was plugging in my block heater and the truck ran great when I drove, so I figured it was the Engine Coolant Temp censor so I changed it and the truck is still having the same sputtering problem heres a list of things I have done recently to try and correct the problem: Engine Coolant Temp Censor EGR Valve EGR Solenoid rebuilt throttle body check for vacuum leaks ECM cause that went Fuel Pump cause it went have a new o2 censor to install still This problem has plagued me for over two years and its just recently got worse. Thanks for your input.
  11. My truck was robbed last night! They got a $1.20 a new serpentine belt, new coolant temp censor and new fuel filter so if he has a 88 chevy c1500 I hope shes running good now.... :thumbsup_anim: I forgive you...
  12. Page 82-83 has a picture and a small quote from Richard AKA Rick but no mention of the Bear.. Thanks for finding the link.
  13. Silver Tipped Grizzly taken in Beaver Creek, Yukon. Unfortunately the Bear wondered onto the porch of a cabin that contained 2 little girls a wife and a dude with a 44 magnum on his hip, hence no head on the Bear. The Bear was 7.5 feet but is now just over 6ft. National Geographic was in Alaska writing about the Alaskan Highway and heard about Rick so they did a story on him not 100% sure if the Bear is mentioned but I have the issue coming this week, November 1991 edition.. Rick passed away and willed to a friend who isn't the least bit interested in the outdoors so I offered to buy it as a house warming gift for my cousin who lives in Anne Lake, Yukon. Tim thought it would be great to send the Bear back to the Yukon so he was more then happy to sell it to me, so this September I will be heading out to the Yukon for some Pike fishing and to mount this Bear on my cousin's wall..
  14. Majority of the time the winds are from the north west, so guess who gets all the dead fish and garbage, Keswick!
  15. In the early 90's I was at a friends cottage in Burks Falls and his Grandfather took us to meet an older gentlemen. We sat and listened as the two exchanged story's and spoke about Algonquin Park as we where taking a trip the following day. The next day at the park my friends grandfather pointed to a picture at the Algonquin Park Visitor Center and said theres the man we met yesturday, it was Ralph Bice apparently he helped cut the ribbon at the visitor center a few years before. We actually had a second visit with Mr.Bice and chatted for anhour. After I went down to the local store and bought his most recent copy of his book "Along The Trail In Algonquin Park" and wouldnt you know Mr.Bice hand signed all the copys in that store. Truly a legend..

  19. I have wireless you can steal my signal! I use Rogers..
  20. The boys and I were chatting at the water cooler and they were asking me what I thought about Ice Parking and I said it should not be aloud, If I was to gather a crowd of people down by the water and then dump a barrel of motor oil in the Lake I would imagine these people would be angry and it could be tough getting out of there!(I live in Keswick) with all the vehicles on the ice I would think that a percentage will leak oil and other fluids on the ice but this is okay? if we did ban vehicles on the ice this could improve the Lake and the fishing..
  21. I've been yak fishing for 4 years now and I love it!! I bought a crappy tire kayak for 299.99 and added a rod holder any cheap kayak can be made into a fishing yak I would suggest something light weight..
  22. Thanks everybody!! I make my own rig similar to the Quick Strike Rig except mine is a horizontal hold I call it the Dead Strike Rig.. The red light was the reflection from my camera and I would say that pike weighed between 7-10 pounds maybe..
