  1. Many pro bass guys use the jerk shad as their go to bait. They run it texas style with big hooks and cast over weeds twitching it like a hard jerk bait. If the fish are deeper, they will use a weighed 5/0 worm hook so it gets down a bit. I have a bunch of them but am reluctant to use them because in the same situation I would probably go for a slower presentation like a senko. One day when I have more time I will try them properly.
  2. I have been waiting for my sebile since June 4th. I use bassmagnet swimbaits and I find they do tear as well. I like their action but haven't managed to catch anything on them. I support them becasuse they are a canadian brand.
  3. try some of their new hollow belly swimbaits. I have heard they work alright. They are not too $$. Spend a bit more and buy gulp stuff. I think it is better. I feel as though I am working for them these days.
  4. You can drop shot a senko for sure. 4" is a great size. I use 2/0 octopus and nose hook it. If you are throwing into weeds texas rig a lighter wire worm hook. If you are drop shotting smaller baits go with a size 1 or 2 or even 4 octopus hook. Gulp minnow is a great drop shot bait. you can almost drop shot any soft bait. I drop shot gulp leeches with great success. Mark Kulik's baits are supposed to be deadly but I haven't go one yet. I do cast my drop shot baits. I even cast from shore but remember your angles. Because you are at a much smaller angle when you cast(not directly over your bait as in a boat) leave more distance betewen your weight and hook. I drop shot 1/8 ounce from a boat and 1/4 from shore (longer cast if needed). I cast, let it sink, reel in the slack line twitch with slight twitches, pause for a few seconds, twitch again and pause, reel in about a foot of line and twitch again. do this all the way in. I seem to get most hits just after I twitch and it is paused for a split second. set hook well and make sure your drag is not too tight. I have lost too many fish because of this. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE VERY SHARP HOOKS! Check your line often especially around your hook. I have a few other baits that work great for drop shotting and I often run 2 hooks at the same time especially when I use Gulp fish fry. Running 2 hooks makes it look like a school of fish. I highly recommend gulp fry. hope that helps a bit
  5. Has anybody used those bucktail jigs? I opted for the normal looking head instead of the squid head. 1/2 oz were mine.
  6. There are 3 dollaramas in Barrie. I went to all 3. The one downtown has the storm worms and lizards. I bought a lizard pack mostly because it comes with 2 VMC 5/0 hooks. I also bought a pack of 2 bucktail storm wildeye jigs 1/2 oz. At the store in Bayfield mall they had a bunch of blue fox minnow chasers I bought one. They also had rapala spinnerbait trailer hooks. The south end store (big bay pt and yonge st). They had not too much other than spoons and the mako lures.
  7. I beg to differ. I think they taste exactly like bottle nose dolphin.
  8. Now I am not saying he did or he didn't but you should never doubt. I know a guy with a renegade that runs 12 seconds flat in a 1/4 mile and he does it on 33" tires and a 4" lift I believe (he used to run 12.7 on 37"). My grand cherokee had a 5.9 with a bunch of engine work include complete ecu swap and I ran 100 shot of nitrous. Nothing could touch that vehicle on the street in an 1/8 mile race. My friends lightning that was putting down about 500hp at the wheel would only just beat me at the finish line in 1/4 mile. I have learned not to doubt some times. i know of another 5.9 grand cherokee taht runs 10.8 at 124 mph in the 1/4 mile. Don't underestimate the jeep especially a 5.9. They look like any other grand cherokee only they are special I used to have a vid of the renegade but now only pics http://www.jeepfan.com/readersjeeps/fuzz401.php This is like my 5.9 only it has a few more mods. This guy now can run 10.8 now. this is one of my fave vids Don't doubt what people say. Sometimes they tell the truth
  9. Woe, nice fish. It is great to see you don't have to spend $$$$ to catch big bass. Great report
  10. LOL. You must be single.
  11. I had my bmw going 250 km/hr(it would do that all day and was planted). Went from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 37 minutes (137 km trip) Also had an infiniti and it went about 240 245 km/hr. I took a pic of speedo doing this. I also had a jeep grand cherokee that was about 240 km/hr as well but I only got it up to 220 km/hr and it scared me pic if infiniti speedo
  12. Nice fish. What did they like to eat? When I fish there they are partial to my senko.
  13. Now that is a good call. Having said that I only peel back the safety seal halfway and it is always still on and mine leaks.
  14. I have thrown 6.5" swimbaits for pike but nothing yet. I have thrown 5" bastrix style hollow bellies for bass and had some followers only.
  15. Got out fishing for about 45 mins in a boat. no depth finder(that sucked). I was going by feel. Wish I would have know about the no largemouth thing beforehand. Found a couple of bays with pads and reeds. Tried trowing the topwater weedless frog. Nothing not even a boil. On closer inspection the pads weren't wuite thick enough and were only in about 2 ft of water. Should have held one LM but no. I did see several old nests though. Fished a shoreline as well. Nice looking with lots of wood but did not catch a thing. Had a huge surface about 15 ft from the boat. Probably a 15+ pound pike. Did not take my bait. Ended up fishing from the dock and caught 6 small (10") SM bass on a drop shot rig. Would have liked to fish more but you have 3 kids and my friends have 4 kids it is difficult to get away (especially when the eldest is 7). I would like to fish the lake again with a boat with a finder and a bit more time. thanks for the replies.
  16. Ok I did some research. NW corner looks good. Huge pike. Looks like they like jerkbaits. I will also throw big spinnerbaits and some big swimbaits. Should be fun. I wasn't going to bring a net but now after reading about some of the big fish from there I will.
  17. I am pretty sure there are small and largemouth bass, pike and lake trout (perch / panfish as well). I think I will be near Sanfield (sounds familiar). Anything I should be throwin? I think I will fish for bass in the morning and maybe pike in the aft. I have never fished this lake. Are there pads there? I will throw spro bronzeye frogs and yum buzzfrogs if there are. I will try and find some rocky shoals for smallies as well. I will try and throw jerk baits and maybe spinner baits for pike on weed lines if I find any. I have no idea what to expect tomorrow. Any help at all would be appreciated. thanks
  18. you have small hands, I am going to say 2 pounds 14 ounces
  19. No comment for now. I am not offended. I will get better pics. The 10 - 8 in the other pic looks longer but doesn't have the sme girth
  20. This fish was caught by Randy Howell on lake Amistad in Texas in April in the Battle on the Border this year. Elite series It was the big fish on day 1 Here is the official weight. 10 pounds 8 ounces!!! scroll down to see http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http...l%3Den%26sa%3DN
  21. Ok fish officially weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces. Before you start calling Bull take a look at my other thread called Guess this weight too. Some of us are very good at guessing weights while others are not. I know it is difficult with angles and everything else. Fish was caught in California during a recent visit.
  22. No Guess the fish on my other thread first.
