  1. That has happened too often. lol
  2. That is a nice boat! There is a dealer for similar boats in Barrie. They are called Custom Weld boats and they are very impressive as well.
  3. That is too funny about fishing clearwater lake in the Pas. I too fished it in June of 93 or 94. Good pike. Never fished for lakers.
  4. Perch are a bit nuts. My friend actually uses Rapala HJ12s for perch. They love it. I have also caught small rockbass on big spinnerbaits. This winter, a student of mine, caught a 50" musky on tiny rapala ice fishing jig. Corner of mouth caught and landed.
  5. One more for you. About 20 years ago we were downrigging for lakers on simcoe and I was reading fish at about 25 ft over 90ft of water. Because the LCR 2000 was such a basic finder I assumed the suspended fish were just clutter or false readings. I threw out a deeper diving big rapala fat rap and caught a 7 pound whitefish.
  6. not cool. "ol broad" was not pc but was funny
  7. My parents live in Alberta and they often fish walleye. I used to make fun of their 1 fish limit and in many cases no fish limit on their lakes. I don't do that anymore. I fished a small lake there this summer and experienced non-stop walleye action. I caught them on virtually anything including chatterbaits. Yesterday I got an email from my mother who informed me they were just back from Lesser Slave Lake. Over the 2 day trip they fished for s total of 5 hours and caught 38 walleyes!!!! They used exclusively 4" storm swimbaits that she bought from wal-mart on my recommendation. Now here is the kicker to this story. The first day they fished from 4pm until 6pm (stays light there until 10:45pm) and the following day they fished from 10:30 am until 1:30pm. Those are not exactly prime walleye fishing times. O Oh yeah, the smallest fish was 17" I am jealous
  8. 1. I was out fishing with a friend today and we were drop shotting tiny tubes and micro senkos for perch. All of a sudden my friend hooks into a big (relative to the perch we were catching) pike. He hooked it perfectly in the side of the mouth. Hard to catch pike on a drop shot setup when the hook is attached directly to the 8 pound line. He was using a tiny pearl 2" (yes 2") senko. The pike was about 9 pounds and we even managed to land it. I have a pic as well but it is on my friend's phone. 2. The other day I caught a 10" crappie on pearl 10cm x-rap. (not so unbelievable) 3. I have a tackle box full of $10-$30 lures and I threw out a popper that I bought at dolarama for a buck. After only 2 casts I caught a 16.5" 2 pounde smalie. Too funny.
  9. there is a guy in barrie that has a couple, just not sure if they are the right size or style but he alsways sell for cheap and I don't pay shipping because I live in Barrie. http://cgi.ebay.ca/STORM-MUSKY-SHALLOW-THU...1742.m153.l1262 and http://cgi.ebay.ca/STORM-MUSKY-SHALLOW-THU...1742.m153.l1262 probably the wrong ones though I guess
  10. Launch in trailer park is $6. Not bad
  11. yeah. I got it in Jan. for the same price but in Canada.
  12. I do realize that the braking sstem is on the outside. I have had about 15 baitcasting reels in the past and all have an internal system you can manipulate. These Quantums do not allow that type of tuning obviously. I am going to have to spend a bunch more time on the water to tune this thing to work properly. It is a super smooth reel. Of the 6 baitcasters I am currently using it is the most finicky by far.
  13. Braking system was nothing what I was expecting. I was hoping it was like my shimanos with the circular weights on the axel. No dice. This thing looks complicated. I need to find my box with the manual in it. I fished this reel the other day and it was birdsnesting badly. I adjusted the spool tension but it made it slow and cast were short. I snapped off a $13 lure on a birdsnest that began once my lure was 3/4 out. Snapped off 20 lb power pro in my reel. Watched my Lucky Craft lure sail off into the distance. Not cool. Anyone know how to adjust these things?
  14. Are you being serious or just playin with me?
  15. finally got it. Sorry to bother everyone.
  16. I have lost the box and owners manual and can't get the side plate off the reel. It has a small sliding button underneath. I push that over and try to somehow slide the plate off but I don't even know which way it pivots or slides. Any help would be greatful as I am deperately trying to tune this reel. thanks
  17. Thanks I work in Penetang so I will talk to Brian.
  18. It is First Nations land but my friend leases it and has a cottage there so they already have permission to fish. We are good to go there. I just need to know what I am actually fishing for and if there are any specific locations that might be better than others.
  19. What a set up. This is the second year I have been. Everything is free. I mean everything. Put on by the Rotary Club in Barrie. Thousands of kids stoked about catching perch, rock bass and the odd smallmouth from the rocks. Everything looked like it got released. Bouncy castles for the kids. Free snow cones, cotton candy and hotdogs. Clowns, magic, puppet shows. Free worms fishing rods and reels. The event is first class and it is great to see kids who have never fished before catch fish. They love it. Big thumbs up to the Rotar Club (I even managed to catch 13 fish but nothign bigger than 8" still fun though.)
  20. anyone ever fished it?
  21. Has anyone fished Gibson Lake or is it Lake Gibson? It is in Muskoka. I read there are Pike and Walleye but have never been there and don't know where to start. I will try for some eyes earl in the morn using Jig and maybe live bait, bottom bouncing and probably go for Pike in the afternoon throwing all the regular stuff. I am moreso looking for locations. Don't have to be specific, just depths and general areas would be great. Going June 21st weekend. thanks
