Ya I too just had buck only and had 4 doe,s cros my paths. It,s amazing though,what you see out there. Great shots of the ice formations Jed.

I adjust my lead a lot Kemp. I start off as well, short lead,til I tick the bottom. The worst part is,when I over adjust,I get that dreaded snag,and have to re tie.LOL I try to fish the tail outs more, when the water is dirty. There I find my most success.I also find if I fish the side of the fast flow,it works to,but need to find that sweet spot.Sometimes it takes many drifts to get the strike.

Do trout suspend in pools if the water is dirty? Or is the water clearer lower in pools? Always learning

If I am not mistaken here kemp. If you tigthen up like you say,does it not make it hard to wallis cast? Fishing a large float, tells me you are fishing heavy waters. I use from 4 to 6.4 so far. I had to go with a larger float do to the fast and rising waters (heavy bulk shot) this past weekend.

Remove the bearings and flush the whole reel with water. At a drop or two of sewing machine oil to the bearings. I finally bought some, and it makes a world of difference. Then again,the bearings maybe be pouched.

Very cool Boss. While I was out this weekend,I had those pesky chickidees buzzing me. Heck,even the blue jays were still up north. That has to be a sign of a mild winter coming. I seen 4 doe,s and no bucks.Doe,s were off limits. Lots of good sign where I was,but way to frigg,n warm. +3 at 6am and even warmer as the day went on. First time I didnt freeze my tukus off in many years. Lots of empty trailers, heading south. Snow came a week before the warm front. Lots of sign. A great 2 days well spent with my pop,none the less.
