The older/long time members know this story. Hope it helps save. The year was 2002 I think . I had bought my first, new tinny,and was putting my 1978, 20 hp Johnson motor on it. The motor was on a 1969 traveler faberglass run about (CUCUMBER GREEN). Not knowing, when a motor is on a steering boat,the movement of the steering is loose.I attached this motor to my tinny and it was now a tiller. it was always a tiller,but rigged it so it was a steering motor (wait,ENGINE)Feeling good Roy/Paul . My first outing was out on Little lake here in Barrie for some spring crappie. Today these tiller motors come with a kill tether,MINE DID NOT. I was moving from spot to spot all morning long.All was well. Then this happen. I was at full speed, when all of a sudden, a simple pack of smokes started to fly off the bench. I reached for them and YEP,the tiller swings to the left,I go right, and over board I go. Wearing long johns and heavy cotton track pants,a t-shirt and wool pullover. Heres where someone was watching over me. When I went in,I seen everything. I seen bubbles,the boat go by. When I came to the surface,I still had my glasses on . Im in shock at first,but regained myself pretty quick,knowing Im in trouble. Treading water was pretty tough with all that cloths,but I wasnt going down. There was another boat out there,and they came over as fast as they could. By the time they got to me,my boat had circled,and came right back to me . I reached and grabbed that hull with all my might,probly 3-4 trys. Once I did get a hold of it,I felt safe,and I never thanked the guy above more then I did then. That was some real scary stuff. Funny,when my brothers and sister were wee ones,my pop always made sure out PFD,s were on.Think I would of learned their not seat cushons. Guess when we get older,we think we know better. When I got my bass boat,it had a tether. I NEVER, EVER,DID NOT HAVE IT NOT ATTACHED TO MY PFD. LESSON LEARNED. Glad Im around to share. Alex,I use to do one after the close of Lakers and whities out from Hooters for pike/perch. If you just want a GTG,that might be an option. The last few years,the ice has sucked.Hard to get on. Maybe we can talk later about it. Lots of time. I would be more then willing to help you out.

When I drove by,there was one fire truck there and an ambulance. Im sure by the time it got full blown,Barrie was called in to assit. No way the local volunteer stations could deal with that.

Ya,I went to Rama this afternoon,it was bellowing out the one bay door,and the show room was full of smoke. On my return,I could see the smoke from Oro line 10. Huge black clouds. A person from the hitch house was on rock 95 and said no one was hurt,but the building is preTty much done. Long time bussiness in the ally.

I would also like to add to his request. I see no reason why the fund raiser could not be changed. After all,the Tyler event came from a GTG Speil started,then I took over. It would be nice to share the wealth.IMO. Im sure the same turn out would be the same,and the same gathering would show,with the same excitement.

Are you looking at just getting out with OFC members and having a day on the ice in memory/celebrate, your father,or a fund raiser? If you want just a good day,no matter the catch and a good time,I would say little lake. No matter where,I will be there.

First off that looks SWEET. I like to wrap my breasts with bacon. Skinned goose breast,you dirty dogs. If Im doing a turkey like that on the BBQ,it,s the same. Skin it and wrap with bacon. I try to get to my buddies place,so I can get that double smoked bacon. As for the other NF, off topic stuff,,,, Good on ya Dana. When I did the weight loss. It was fish,chicken and greens. Lots of cottage cheese and olives too. Now that I did that and felt great,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I LOVE MY BACON.

Read this thread many times,want to post,but it would seem it all comes down to preference. I started out with braid as my main. Hated it.Tried the pline hydra float,no longer is it on my reel. Coating seperates. Went to Maxima moss green, it,s a line I have used before on my spinning reel on the rivers. Now getting kinda experimental,I have Raven green 8pd HIGH VIS,SILK THROUGH THE EYS,as my main,very happy with it thus far all fall.My lead is Sufix floro. Very strong and has served me well. Oh that PLINE HYDRA didnt go to waste. It,s my backing.

All kidding a side Dave. I was into making my own. I had a hand held drill, rig up on a jig. It was very rewarding to make. My biggest problem back then (30 yrs), was finding the right seal for them. I tried the wood dope,but when left for a bit,they became sticky. I gave up. I just seen your last post. Would love to see a step by step. Nice work.
