  1. Haha, love the smiles the most Steve. Can't wait until out fall Smallmouth trip
  2. Thanks for the replys guys. The casting deck will be a simple piece of plywood being layed ontop of the middle and front bench seat. I will move my bucket seat thing onto a small pedestal post thing in the center of it. Essentially bringing the seating from the tip of the boat back a foot or two. As for people in the boat, 2 guys my size are fine in the boat. Now I'll be able to stand on a flat surface up front while the other guy can stand in the back of the boat now on the flat floor. Total added weight maybe 10-15lb...not sure really. My main goal here is to get a new motor on the back of the boat and the new paint job. Aside from that a deck will be something for another time. As for payments I will most likely put down 500 or so on the motor and have the rest payed off 1 month into the summer. 2k wont be much but ill prob leave the motor there and make 2....maybe 3 payments on it max. Thanks for the reply's everybody. I'll post pictures of the paint job in a few weeks or so, its going to be looking very spiffy
  3. Hello everybody I have a few questions and another plan in action for next season, here it goes. I have a 12' aluminum boat that I am eager to put a motor onto but I need to save up at least a couple hundred for a motor. I would like to buy a motor and make a few large payments on it next April. So save up little chunks of money all school year for a down payment then make a few dollars when I am out of out of school next summer and buy a little brand new outboard. My boat says it's rated for a max of a 10hp. She's old but very wide and sturdy. I have experimented with the sturdyness of the boat this summer and have decided I want to put a casting deck in it also up front so I want to keep the weight down with a motor. Mercury...I have been looking at their 2010 4 stroke 6hp and 8hp. The 6hp is set at only 55lbs and it aprox 2k but not sure. They do not list their prices online like Honda and Yamaha. I'm looking for a email address or somebody that knows the full price of both the 6 and 9hp outboards. Manual start short shaft is all i need. The countless hours of trolling motor travel time has me sick haha. I got a family member lined up to re paint the boat in his shop. Shiny black on the outside and pearl white on the inside with nice chrome trimming on the existing capped aluminum. A deck ill worry about once I get the motor on it next season. Any insight on this topic. I know I think what I want and I'm sure lot's of members will tell me to go with a 9.9 to max the boat out. The thing here is added weight from trolling motor, batteries, and a casting deck I want the weight at the back to be as light as possible. Thanks for reading, hope I get some advice on this topic. My summer report will be posted on the weekend some time so keep a eye out guys. Mike
  4. I prefer casting fish on a baitcaster. The fight feels better and it seems to give the user more control. Each have their place but I definitely like the baitcasting world.
  5. Congrads kiddo, she could become a actress ya know
  6. Haha, that sucks buddy. My man get some Power pro braid, Trilene 100% Fluoro or good ole Trilene XL Mono. When can we go camping again? I'm getting my boat done up nice this fall/winter
  7. Not to sure about smallies but Largeies in Deep water seem to always be big and fat for me. Been catching them on frogs in thick weeds with 3-8ft of water under the top or catching them on jigs in drops from 10-18ft of water.
  8. first off....i love your hat Great report and pictures! MTBF
  9. Awesome man, wow. I got the little green machine myself. If I decide to get a more finesse setup ill get a core but for now I got 2 more Curado's im looking into for next years lineup. One for a Legend Xtreme rod and another for a Avid rod. Love looking at gear man, if you get more share em MTBF
  10. That's killer man, great job. I miss the fat Lake O Pike Thanks for sharing, MTBF
  11. Nice job man!
  12. Looks like a fun time out there
  13. Does anybody know or could tell me the difference between the Shimano Cumara 7'11MH trigger rod and the St Croix Legend Xtreme 7'6MH I know the Xtreme is set at 4.8oz. As for the Cumara I have no idea. There a little cheaper and am curious about them. I thought the Cumara line would have a 7'6MH but it doesn't seem so. I'm set on St Croix and I want the best rod in their line up(lightest) however a high end shimano is worth looking at for me. Just looking for some ideas and suggestions about the high end rods.
  14. I couldn't agree more. The lake that I now call my "home lake" up here has anywhere from 1-8 boats on it every day. The lake is small but on the weekend on this little place there are literally 8 boats on it and every little bay on the lake has a boat in it. It's funny because I only got a boat on the lake 2 years ago, so perhaps those people that were shore fisherman like myself now have boats however for the pressure it receives I am the only person casting into the weeds most of the time. The lines on the slop from frog fishing are there and dont change so while there is pressure it's not all on one specific area. Being said 20 casts on the main lake might land you a fish or two, nothing big with the odd small catch. When I go into a pond only accessible by a small boat like mine you cant keep the fish off your line most of the time. The number I would say is going up but who knows
  15. My thoughts also...except the Hanna Montana part haha. I love my 2 shimano reels and st croix sticks. Looking forward to more, great combos for sure!
  16. I don't mean to say I got it down to a art but using a bigger jig with darker colors I managed to pull a big fat bass yesterday off of a weed edge on a straight drop to 15ft of water. Take a look, it was purdy...Probably 4lbs ish, didn't weigh it. Still, I'm starting to filter out those 1's and 2's and getting myself into a nice 3+ every evening with a biggin popping up every now and then. Thanks for the reply's guys
  17. Hey guys, all has been well out here past Kingston. Been catching lot's of chunky 2's with a 3lb fish being common for me. No more Bowfin or Pike these last 2 weeks but I have been working on my summer long report. Here is a fish I pulled in 2 days ago, another skinny bass set the scale at 5lb's 8oz. That's my 2nd fish over 5 Hope to see these big fish get fat and chunky for August Anyway, I've been reading reports and commenting here and there, dial up sucks so my internet has been slow. Here is the fish, nailed on a flippin jig right near the dock my boat is parked at. Threw out in the Duckweed behind me right as I was pulling up haha. Tightlines, Mike
  18. Wohoa nice catches man
  19. I'll be trying a St Croix Avid out next year I know, seem to be build well. Although not a crankbait rod my Avid spinning rod(ML) has done me very well.
  20. Got to love smallmouth bass from that area, so clean and strong fighting fish! Thanks for sharing, MTBF
  21. Nice bass man, beats my PB smallie for sure haha
  22. Nice catch!
