  1. Hi everyone, I have a question that has been bugging me for a while now. I would like to move up to Alberta in the future for work but would also like to do a great deal of fishing up there also. I know they have an excellent trout fishery, but I've been drifting away from trout fishing lately and have really began to enjoy Bass fishing. So I guess my question is, why are there no (very little) Bass in Alberta? Is it not a warm enough climate? Are there parts of Alberta that have good numbers of bass? I would love to move up there, but I would hate to give up bass fishing.
  2. the pete mania reel looks decent and is on sale right now. I was thinking of picking one up.
  3. The water levels will drop through the summer. They seem to raise and drop the water levels a lot , so I don't think it would be a good idea to decide in the spring based on the water level.
  4. I would also like to know. I have a curado that I would like to trade in, but I'm not just going to give it away for 20% off or something
  5. I just figured it was because of the strong current going threw most of the lakes.
  6. wow I can't believe I've never found this site before... thanks a lot for the link, I'll be glued to my monitor watching those videos!
  7. Has no one tried both??? I'm wondering the same thing. I want to pick up a couple Mojo series rods this spring but I'm not sure if they are the better choice against the premier, although I have not fished either rod.
  8. Well I had a lot of time on my hands today and no frozen ice around me So I figured I'd turn an old garbage Shakespeare noodle rod into an Ice fishing rod. I was just going to break off the tip and jam it into part of the reel seat but I decided to get a little creative. I was going to cut the bottom off but I'm just gonna leave it on there. Now if the water would just freeze, I could try it out!!
  9. well not to knock Bass Pro because I love that store, but I've only been there 3 times and for specific things and every time they were out or didn't stock it...
  10. Dam, you make me want to go buy a nice camera (if I had the money...) Very nice shots, I'll be back to check for more in the future.
  11. They look nice, I do see something wrong though (at least to me) could be fine though, but I always attach the bead with a small nail through the bead tied onto the hook.
  12. That is one scary looking boat ramp! To bad you guys weren't rewarded with some fish. I've also got a quick question for you lol, hows that sunfire handle the boat? ever had any problems getting your boat back out of the lake? I am going to buy a 12ft boat for next year and thought I would need a 4x4 truck but with gas prices lately I would rather be able to pull it in a little car.
  13. I do my roe the same. I use to cure but I don't any more. I usually air dry them for about 1-2 hours then make 16 roe bag portions. Then I cut up plastic bags into squares and tie the roe up in them. As long as there's no air they should be fine next year.
  14. Might seem easy because of it being out of season. Turkeys know when they are being hunted lol. You'll almost never get a chance like that come spring. I like compound bows, but turkeys are tough and you'll need a good shot to keep it from running. I've only seen one small turkey hit with a bow and it had to be chased. Expect to put in a lot of patient days trying to out smart "a bird". Nothings more fulfilling then finally getting one though. if you want to look into a compound bow then I would suggest BassPro. they have Bows to suite your every need and have some moderately priced ones. I'd say you could find one there that would be great for starting out in the $4-$500 range.
  15. I managed to get into 2 lakers before. They were both caught out of Oshawa creek a year apart. As soon as you get the hook into them you can tell they aren't the usual catch. Both of mine didn't do much running, they held their ground and did a full body shake right into shore.
  16. I got realy desparate and tried to glue a fenwick back together after I slammed a door on it. They sent me a new one lol. Dont expect to be using it this season though. Will probably get it back in time for spring.
  17. I've done some searching around for "shakey heads" and I found these to be the best IMO. (although I haven't tried them cause they are hard to find!!) I like them because the head will sit flat on the bottom better then other jigs, so your worm will stand instead of sitting flat on the bottom. 18. Hi, I have a question I posted on your other thread but never got a reply. Anyways i was wondering if you will allow 4 people per boat? I realy want to enter into this tournement but I can only go if i can get my girlfriend and her parents to go. They aren't into competitive fishing but i might be able to talk them into since they will most likely be on love sick lake.
  19. Any exceptions for boats of 4? I might be able to talk my girlfriend and her parents into registering. They aren't into competitive fishing but I'm dieing to join a little touney and they are usually on love sick lake so I could probably be able to get there with them.
  20. Go to the bass and fish them hard lol. I wish I had that many spots to fish within walking distance. Goodluck on your choice.
  21. I wish I could help you with directions but I haven't gotten out there yet lol. Good luck fishing tonight, let us know how you do. I'm still itchin to get out there.
  22. I think the bigger rod will allow you to flip and cast a bit farther and will help you get the fish out of cover. If I was wader fishing I would probably want a 7 foot rod or bigger since your already losing a couple feet of length due to being in the water.
  23. You can't fool us. We all know you wouldn't leave an unfinished bottle of alcohol layin around
  24. is there any diference between a spool of fluoro like the trilene which is supposed to be used for main fishing line and fluoro that is ment to be used as a leader? I would rather buy a larger spool and make leaders then buy a smaller spool but I guess line isn't supposed to sit around very long so it might be better to just buy the smaller spool? Will 50 hold up to musky? I read in another thread that fluoro sinks and will affect your bait? If so how bad? I would like to use fluoro for top water baits because the steel leaders obviously affect the bait greatly, will the fluoro do the same thing?
