  1. Diawa has a new braid out this year. It looks really good. It is way more limp than Power Pro and Fireline. I think that I will give it a try. I use Fireline and Powerpro and have noticed that I get more residue from the P.P. It doesnt really bother me that much. I feel that each line has their advantages. I like both.

Thanks for the report. Nice lookin silver. Keep the porn coming. How did the other boats do out there?
  3. Nice lookin jigs. Dont be afraid to try different patterns. You will be surprised what actually works. Those steelies will hit almost anything. Try tipping them with maggots.......absolutly deadly in the cold weather.
  4. Nice clean lookin pikers. Thanks for the report . Plus temps expected this weekend !!! Spring is just around the corner.
  5. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH, now I feel better. Finally some open water reports. Spring is just around the corner !!!!!!! Thanks for the report, nice looking Niagara chromers.
  6. Slow poke, Looks good to me. Tying flies is a great hobby. Once you find certain patterns that suit your style of fishing ,you will really perfect the art. Try not waisting time on patterns that dont work. Nothing beats the feeling of catching fish on a pattern that you tied, or better yet, a pattern that you created. Stick with it. You can only get better.
  7. Usually the guys on the river that have the most expensive gear and the most tackle, catch the least amount of fish. Its sad but true. I think that they get all geared up at home and practice their poses in the mirror. Ya know..... down on one knee, elbow bent at a 45 degree angle, float reel shinning in the sun.....or my personal favorite, the float reel resting on the back of their neck. We call them float fags.
  8. Amazing pictures! Very artistic and creative. I love the one where the picture is half black & white and half colour. Great looking fish. Thanks for posting and taking the time to post something new and creative.
  9. Thats very cool. As a child I spent my summers on Pigion Lake. That video looks very familiar. When I used to catch crawfish........ironically for fishing, I too would have smallmouth following me around, gobbling up any thing that I missed. We worked together as a team. I lifted the rocks to spook out the craws and the smallies snatched them up quicker than a fat kid on a smartie. lots of fun........pet bass for the summer.
  10. 5 fish out in the lake is a bit high. Thats 5 fish per person. A charter boat usually brings 4 people per day, so thats potentially 20 fish kept. Not to mention that a charter boat can fish every day during the summer !! Hopefully the charter boat operators do the right thing. Its in their best interest to to make an effort to practice C&R.
  11. Nice report...........You forgot this one
  12. Looks like you guys had lots of fun. Smiles all around. Any big ones?
  13. Is that what I think it is in your left hand, in the first picture ? If it is what I think it is........ it sure makes the fish bite eh.
  14. I just saw a crazy episode of Extreme Angler that confirms that its the best fishing show out there. First, Mark Kulik catching nice steelies.( on some great "soloesque" looking water ) And then Dave Kennedy smokin topwater pike !! Two of my favorite things. Killer show boys, Keep up the good work. Oh yeah, when is Dave Mercer giong to put on a pair of waders?LOL
  15. "NICE TO BE BACK ON THE RIVER BUT I GOT TO ADMIT I DO MISS THE LILYPADS LOL" you have seen the light my son.............7 months away!!!!!!!
  16. CCMT, Nice fish, thanks for the report. Some true giants there.I have two questions.........Do they fight any better from shore than they do from a boat? We all know that they really do fight like wet socks. Also, what baits did you get them on? Im just wondering if any particular colors work better at night. Thanks again for the porn. MSP
  17. Moosebunk , Thanks for taking the time to show us your adventures abound. Its nice to see that your family is included in the adventures from time to time. You have a beautifull family. I am salivating over the giant PIKE........gotta love the way they smash those lures !!!!! Keep the posts coming in 2009. MP
  18. Hey everybody, I have been reading everyones posts that reveiw their whole season. Very impresive.Lots of great fishermen on the site.I would also like to welcome all the new members that have recently posted some of their fish porn........Keep it coming guys!! Anyway,I dont have the time to post all the time, nor have the time to post my whole season, but I do have time to reveiw my favorite fishing month of the year.......yep you guessed.......November. Nov. 1st- decided to fish for late season largies. All bass caught on jig & pigs in 8 feet of water with sparse weeds.Water temps were hovering at 47 degrees. Heres the two bigguns of the day. Nov.8-The bass and pike bite seemed to be pretty good cosidering the cold front temperatures so we thought that we would give it another try the following weekend. Before we even loaded the boat up with our gear my buddy helped himself to a few casts of the dock. 2nd cast......... After that we thought that it was going to be a good day. Slowrolling spinnerbaits, long paused jerkbaits and swimming jig and pigs was the ticket for a good day on the water. I spot this fish swimming toward the boat and my buddy decided to run a figure 8 in front of him and he lunged for the bait. After we got him in the boat we realized that he was blind in both eyes, his jaw was hanging on by a thread, and he has had an ice fishing spreader rig hooked to his gills.Poor guy!!!!! I cant beleive that he has lived that long, and still feeding. Nov.14-Decided to take the day off work cause I was starting to jones for some trout.Had a great day on the river.Landed a hand full of steelhed and a couple of bonus browns. Nov.23-Decided to give it one last kick at the can before the boat went away for the season.Boy it was hard to get the boat started in the morning. Persistance paid off and I was rewarded with this beauty. See ya soon guys..........Mike
  19. Great report Mark, Looks like a great fishery down there. I think that Lake Ontario grows some of the best steelhead in the Great Lakes. Its nice to see some nicer fish than those Cattaraugus dinks that we are used to seeing over and over again. Great post...... and informative too. Thanks for taking the time to post
  20. The power plant has all kinds of fish .Pretty much every species that smims in Lake Ontario can be caught at the power plant. Most of the best fishing is in the colder months (Nov.-Dec.Mar.-Apr.)Any time that I have fished there we used Niagara rigs with minnows or plastics. We drive up the east warm water outflow(not too far up),drop the trolling motor down and keep my rig as verticle as possible. Try to match your weight to the speed of the current. Let the current push you out into the lake and use the trolling motor to keep your boat in a good position.Once you get out into deeper water, start your main motor and do it over again.Dont drive up to close to the out flow because security will come and tell you to leave.as far as trolling, anything goes.....Countdown rapalas, deep diving cranks ect. 30-40feet of water.
  21. I think that there is a fall walleye tournament on Sat.and Sun. Check out http://forums.quintefishing.com/phpBB2/. there might be some information on there.
  22. I thought that that was out east.Wasnt that Oshawa Creek?
  23. Your number of posts does not equal your I.Q. Have fun at Dirt Dam.
