  1. if I hadn't paid too much to shrink wrap the boat in Dec I would be out there to. Need to find some heated storage for next year tinbanger
  2. My shop was open ! at least till noon Thier hours of operation have not been an issue for me . they seem to be open when I need them and yes they do close down for 2 weeks in early december for well earned vacation. One thing I forgot is they can be a good source of local info ,whats working , whats not . Just to clarify I wouldn't call the big shops 'nasty' as I shop them and I work for a big 'nasty' US chain. Just check out the small shops now and then tinbanger
  3. Merry Christmas (belated ) Sam. Glad I had a chance to drop by your new place in the fall , although we had no luck on the Bay , look forward to a return trip next year . Dave
  4. Couldn't help but notice alot of OFNrs got BPS gift certificates for Christmas I myself ended with $75 CTC certificate ( insulated rubber boots ) just don't forget your local tackle/bait shops . these are the small buisness owners who we rely on when we a) forgot some critical items at home need some live bait c) don't feel like driving an hour . Not only that they have some truly good deals . At my local shop here in Barrie I have bought several items in the last couple of years ( Several rods , 3 floater suits , 2 ice augers and numerous smaller items) Just today had a great experience when I had to exchange a too small floater suit. I shop around as much as the next guy but why not ' buy local' when the price is right. Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Tinbanger
  5. follow up to Pikeies report I na dthe youngest son also got floater suits ,so not only will we be warm but will feel a lot safer when cold water fishing. Pikeie also bought his dad a nice ice rod . tinbanger
  6. check out the link below Someone who figured out how to make some $$ at a hobby When boys were younger he brought his RC copter to a cub/beaver meeting it was pretty awesome http://www.eyeinsky.ca/
  7. have someone rear end you and bend it onto your rear bumper TB
  8. thanks for the offer carp.I'll give it a go on saturday and see what happens Its a class II hitch , the impact bent the hitch bar . The reciever seems ok . TB
  9. Yee haw a good old fashioned tractor pull
  10. take of the hitch! way too much work . Maybe combine, flammable liquid, cutting torch , chain ,tree ( beer) what could possibly go wrong Tinbanger
  11. One great looking ride ! You will sure enjoy ( do ya think!) So how much do you think working at Basspro has cost you Tinbanger
  12. its my winter beater and the other driver wasn't an a jerk about it so traded a bit of good Carma for a damaged hitch Like the tree idea may wait till my neighbours away and give it a try ( with his tree ) Tinbanger
  13. Had a nice shiney Lexus get a bit to close this week . Ended up with my hitch ball partially buried in my back bumper Here's my problem the hitch has been rusted into the reciever for a few years . I had tried in the past to hammer it out but not much room to swing a hammer. Do you think cutting of the hitch and hammering ( towards front of vehicle) would work.Perhaps the impact helped loosen it ,havn"t had a chance yet to try. This is my old tow vehicle (99 venture) but still use it for towing especially ice fishing gear. Guess nothing to lose trying to cut it off as the hitch is most likley scrap and not too much $$ to replace. Cheaper than the Lexus repair
  14. Strange the dealer would go to all the trouble to scrap off white paint and repaint as I would guess the Yammie prop would be same cost as a Merc prop. Could understand if he was passing off a cheap aftermarket as a Merc prop. My original prop with apx 100 hrs is still good except for the scratches from my anchor chain and boat ramp and ..... Sounds like it works well though . I get 43-44 mph on my 1775 Lund classic with a 2006 90 hp 4 st merc Tinbanger
  15. Turns out saturday pearhing was the last trip with the boat. Was hoping for thursday Muskie but weather and work screwed that up Dropping the boat off at the dealer on friday for some warranty work then into storage till March. Tinbanger

  19. Morning started of foggy and frosty! Met Setomonkey in south end Barrie before 7am , loaded up and headed to Midland At the launch before 8 .Met some fellow Muskie anglers who shared some top secret locations .Much appreciated when fishing new water . Boat in the water and a few anxious moments after starting the motor , must have iced up as it took several seconds till water was peeing out. Some minor icebreaking on the way out. We didn't have to far to go till we started trolling , tried to stay in 20 -40 feet of water . We spent the day trolling till bored then casting . More trolling until we saw some interesting structure then cast . Day passed quickly , nice weather , good company , but no fish . water temps 38 - 41 . We did mark some baitballs and possibly fish . Saw more boats out than expected so I guess others had the same idea we did. Some random pictures of rocks and trees Last pic is Setomonkey assuring his wife I am NOT an axe murderer Thanks for the day Mike . For those thinking of hooking up with fellow OFNrs I highly recomend it . Beats a day alone on the water and you might even learn somthing.Had never met Mike before today and don't think we even 'spoke' on the board before this fall. Tinbanger
  20. Thanks Proboat I called earlier today ,they are still open $10 in/out park ..fair deal. Tinbanger
  21. cool pic Lew My grandparents lived in Picton when my parents and I lived in Kingston ,rode that ferry every week or two .As a kid it was a highlight of the trip. The attendants used to wave as you drove off ... and they still do to young to remember but there was a ferry where the bridge is now that was run by cable . Thanks for the memories
  22. Thanks Cookslav Where on the river were you ? Trying to decide between the Moon and Midland harbour area. Kinda leaning back towards Midland afte reading your report Tinbanger
  23. Looks like Setomonkey and I are going out to enjoy the weather tomorrow and harass some esox. I know there are a ton of launches on Moon river ,just looking for suggestions . Need a fairly decent one as my to vehicle is a mini van. Thinking of Moon river village area fishing woods bay area. Opinions? Tinbnager
  24. apparently the whole episode only lasted less than a minute ,most likly a lot less as time you tend to lose track of time when theres a pi##ed off bird on the end of your line . Luckily the gull didn't get hooked
