  1. Nice 1st ski Paul! I'm still in the 0-4 club, 0 ski's for how many cast's now? Welcome to the site, it's a great group here.
  2. welcome to the site, it's a great group here.
  3. all of them are nice fish, good job.
  4. ASHL = Adult Safe Hockey League so there is little to no contact.
  5. If I was to pick up the stick again I'd be a bit closer to home back with my old team. But thanks. I asked so others reading might now consider it.
  6. the lake our cottage is on (Four Mile) was 48.6 last weekend. Good luck. All our boats are away for the season and my wife has decided it's time to make a new Honey Do list...
  7. So it's ASHL Rec. level?
  8. so beats, your telling us that you are now out $50 from CTC not asking you about those 2 items and your ok with that?
  9. You know what, I spent a whole $20 on a Shimano Stimula 7' rod and it's been great! the $300 rod's are all about the weight, guides and backbone. however, I'll be looking at the new Mojo rod's by St. Croix very soon as I've seen them, held it and liked the feel of it very much. It's in the $100 range.
  10. tks, folks. I have a busy work week so I'll think about it while I go from place to place... tightlines though, I'll have to look them up, tks.
  11. Thanks all. I wish I had your walmart here. after I found the bill I tried to exchange it I was told "no, it's after 90 days so it's up to you to chase down the mfg of the product as it's not our warranty". I felt like saying something rude but the person on the other side of the counter looked like she knows what an Ugly Stick was/is so I left it at that. and I'm not talking fishing... I'm still mad (and that was 4 hours ago) after all the non stop money I spend there...
  12. Hi all. I was fishing up at the cottage over the weekend when I noticed that the insert on the guide at the tip is missing. My wife got the rod a few years ago at good old Walmart but I cannot find the bill. Is there anywhere I can get it replaced or fixed? I think all the Shakespear rod's have a 5-year warranty too so I'm not sure what to do, thanks. Geoff
  13. when I was younger I couldn't afford my car ins. for a bit so I took the truck off the road for 9 months. so my sister asked if she could have my stereo in her Civic SI as the factory one was broken. Not even 2 weeks later it was gone, while the car was in the driveway. a week later some dude broke in again and this time took the steering wheel as the one's in a SI we different then the rest... You should have heard that call to work as why we were going to be late... if you have a GPS, don't have your home address listed as home just in case someone breaks into your car while you are out. if they get your GPS then they now know where you house is and it could be next on the list of things to do...
  14. congrats Rick, enjoy.
  15. thanks for the reply Dan. Looks like I'll be doing some tinkering soon... cheers. Geoff
  16. I was thinking the same thing Cliff Please be me, please be me, PLEASE BE ME!!!!! oh was that out loud?
  17. Wow, thanks Dan. Do you know any place in the GTA East end where I can get the reel cleaned up and serviced? Or is it not worth it and the basic clean up that I have done should be good... What I would like to know is how to work the drag system on this reel as i was tinkering with it and I think the drag may be shot because of being left on full force (I think) for so many years in storage. Funny thing though, the line looks to be only a few years old as it is still bright and strong. I grabbed a section and gave it a few solid tugs and there was no give or breakage. Either way, I'll replace the line... Any other comments are welcome as well, I thank you all. Geoff
  18. PS, solo, how old are you talking when you say back in the day? I'm not after money for this is anyway as it's not mine. I want to know more about it and if I can use it today... Thanks again all. Geoff

  23. Ok, so I got the rod and reel the other day and I'll post pic's soon. Here is what it is. Rod: 8'6" Ranger by Mitchell R85 with AFTMA 7-8 printed on it. Reel: (I might have the spelling worng because of the font used) Lm Dichsovy, #106 MAGINOT. Is this any good? I think the reel might be pooched, is there a place in Durham that can service it at a fair price? Thanks folks. Geoff
  24. Don't get the one at the source as you can get it for less online. I got my SW44 for $20. you can also see if your dish has the Y bracket and add another LNB.
  25. correct
