Who Left Good Jobs To Start Own Business?(NF)
TJQ replied to express168's topic in General Discussion
I did it in 1994.... we starved for the first 3 years.. and the only reason I don't have a real job now is that there were none at home to get. Monique and I were making a really good upper-middle income and were on the verge of buying our first new home. But I was misreable living in New York. So like the beverly hillbillys we moved home to Sturgeon and I hung out my shingle... it fell down... The first three years were absoultly misreable, and it took us another 4 years to dig ourselves outta the hole we dug. I'm glad Avery and Jaden were babies when we did it.. cause they weren't too expensive, and didn't know any better. However that being said... I wouldn't change anything at this point... being broke is a great experiance builder and makes me thankfull for any success... also i learned that making more dough won't neccesarily make you more happy.. ya just have better toys and more responsibility. The one thing about being self employed that bugs me is the lack of benefits you get, mainly a decent pension plan. If I worked 20 years for a company with a decent pension plan... well then that would be another story. The way its going.. im still gonna have to work for a long, long time -
Il be there on Saturday.. no booth this year... way to much work right in our busy season.. I do think im gonna have a buch of free passes to give away as well.

Karl sent me this and I thought I would pass it along!! ------------ Extreme Angler Media Inc. announced today that it has signed two high profile angling personalities to TEAM-X. Tournament anglers Dave Chong of Aurora, ON and Dave Kennedy of Huntsville, ON will join the list of other heavy hitters currently co-hosting the very popular, nationally syndicated Extreme Angler TV show. “We are very excited about adding these two very accomplished and skilled multi-specie anglers to our brand of multi media outdoor education and entertainment”, said Karl Kalonka, Extreme Angler Media president. “I am so pumped up about joining Team X on Extreme Angler TV. Hooking up with a group of such skilled anglers not only gets me excited, but also pushes me to work harder to stay on top. Extreme Angler TV has been great, but it’s only going to get better” stated Dave Chong. “I am truly ecstatic about joining forces with Extreme Angler TV. To be a member of the talented TEAM X is an honor and I look forward to working with everyone on the team. The concept of TEAM X that Karl created brings together a group of anglers that each have their own set skills and these skill sets make Extreme Angler TV more exciting, offering the viewers and fans a show packed with information on how to catch bigger fish. I can’t wait for the season to begin” said newest TEAM X member Dave Kennedy. “Entertaining, educating and inspiring the NEXT GENERATION is one of Extreme Angler TV’s top responsibilities, and by adding these two top notch and very popular anglers, we hope to generate even more awareness about the importance of building a bigger fan base to our sport and passion so that fishing will be an enjoyable activity for generations to come”, added Karl. Extreme Angler media is an industry leader in outdoor multi media communications including television, publications, internet and educational video and DVD production. WWW.EXTREMEANGLERTV.COM

Same way as here... just to be clear... we are not hijacking anyones board.. and once they have it up and running we will be pulling it down... just hate to see the reports stop at this crucial time of year!! As soon as the new board is announced we will post it here and keep a link to it for awhile..
-
Verry Verry true... Its one of the things i like about this new setup is the ability to put people on mod que for a bit rather than banning them... I wish I would have had that feature years ago... If there is a vaccum there, there will be a new board up lickety split.. hell, even I you can put a domain name up and some new software on overnite. Good luck to them!! It will interesting to see how all this unfolds...

fishinonthebrain, lol.. don't take it that way... (although I can see how ya would...) over the last 6 years someone.. usually someone who hasnt been around along time, comes up with this suggestion.. ( happens at least three times a year) and of course alot of members have heard the suggestion alot... We feel that on of the things that sets this board apart is the tendancy to keep the subforums down to a minimum... Don't take it the wrong way, its just most users like it the ways is..
-
I feel for those guys... partnerships of any kind are hard in the best of times... They are a great source for Simcoe Information... I hope everything works out over there and they are back up soon!
-
The purpose of the links at the bottom are to open up the ballon to the camp... Ill get the code working so that it automatically goes to the balloon..
-
Ya.. a couple of things.. Im hoping (if I can get the code to work) to have it go back up to the map and zoom in once a link is clicked.. thats probably the last thing on my to do list. And solo.. I make my dough by promoting a specific set of clients.. my job is to get Joe Fisherdude to one of the lodges I promote... no more no less... This forum gets losts of reports, both good and bad during fishing season as well..
-
I didn't know there was anything south of North Bay.... LOL... Pat the site is to promote my northern Ontario Clientele... hence the Northern Ontario Outfitters, Lodges and Resorts Map. Thanks for giving it a whirl.. Glad it didnt blow your machine up!! Thanks Vance... Im still fine tuning some of the resorts locations... Thats the thing with the googlemaps.. they have to be right on da money!!
-
WOW... I've tested it in ie6, ie7, Firefox and Opera..... Anyone else having issues??
-
Favourite Genre of Music - Classic Rock... (does that mean Im old??) Favourite Band - Rush... didnt know there was another... Most underrated band - Fist and Goddo (anyone else ever heard of these guys.. )
-
Ok.. for the past two weeks, I've been dinking around and adding lodges to my new site that takes advantage of the new google maps system. Its pretty finicky stuff and I'm about 80% done, but before I launch it I sure would like to give it a test drive, so I thought perhaps I could get some constructive (LOL) critisism here... have a look when you get a chance and let me know what you think and where I could improve usability... have a look see... http://www.ontariooutfittersnetwork.com Oh... a couple that are really awesome to zoom in on are Kesagami and Bow Narrows Lodges.. check them out.. the resolution is INCREDIBLE...
