  1. I'll be looking to buy next spring and I've spent the morning today viewing both the Tundra and Tacoma. We have a 99 Silverado Ext.Cab. that's been a fair truck for us. When my wife bought it in 2000 it had 45,000km's on it and over the 8 years we've only put 50,0000kms on it. Still under 100,000. Major problems we've had were... the power windows. There was a design flaw that year for the tracking of the trucks power windows. A dealer pointed this out to us as he was gouging our wallets of about $900 to fix one window and semi-fix the other. Of course, the semi-fix was a full fix a year later and we got dinged another $800. Chev couldn't afford to recall all Silverado's even though one of their dealers was admitting they screwed up. Many people likely didn't notice the problem as much as us, for again, the driver's side of our truck is in need of repair. Reason being, it seems to be the rough roads; and one time definitely after the truck got off the train chain car, which worsen the problem. Otherwise, our Silverado pretty much bi-annually needed ball joints replaced, I have done brakes once, shocks once, and all tires once. There has been an ongoing tailgate problem as well but it's been MacGyver'd. I like the looks of the new Silverado's but am not sure if they're the right choice, I understand they get pretty poor gas mileage comparitively......... (would like to know differences between them all) Motor Trend 2008 truck of the year was the Tundra. Any Tundra or Tacoma owners have any opinions on their trucks?
  2. Thanks again for all the replies. I've cooled down some about this. I love this girl to death and both of them really are angels. She has one toy coming to her for her birthday that I may hold over her head for a week or two and see what happens. Other than that, I may try the chicken poop or nothing at all.
  3. Thanks for the input folks.
  4. thanks
  5. Most fish for me compare to beef tenderloin or great lamb and I'd eat all sorts of fish with equal enjoyment to those meats. Of all the trout, small brookies are my favorite, fried whole in butter. Of local freshwater I'll take pike over walleye and whitefish, BBQ'd on the plank.... with garlic butter. Of all salmon I like Atlantic, again, cooked on the plank.... maybe with a little apple-curry, or maple salsa garnish. For chowder if I can get arctic char that's the bomb. Most flavourful. Of southern Ontario fish I'll take perch over anything... except maybe crappie which I can't remember tasting but know I have. Battered and deep fried with a good squeeze of lemon. Louisianna or blackened catfish... droooooool!!! LoneStar used to sell it with shrimp, was a favorite but not enough people ordered it so it got canned. A shame. Tried many ocean fish but I'd have to say halibut is number 1, followed closely by grouper and mahi mahi. Red snapper and fresh yellowfin are pretty darned good also. A favorite... impossible,
  6. Nice. Crotch Lake is never much of a producer but it is a real scenic area. Good to see you all enjoyed your trip.
  7. Thoroughly enjoyed that report. Thanks for posting. Fish pee pics was good for a laugh for sure.
  8. Great news Lew. Happy to hear your wifes care was successful. Now, sit back, relax, and catch me your new PB muskie.
  9. TANK... Good fish and report FN'D!! Two thumbzup.
  10. Actually, YES!!! I'm guessing the road and many of those lakes right now. You and Cliff have a great time. Leave me the link to this one in a pm if you're not back by next tuesday.
  11. So... tell me where you're going in case I need to call in the loco search and rescue squad...???
  12. Thanks for the bump and words late-comers. lol. Gives me another chance to relive that great trip while having a late breakfast.
  13. Must suck leaving paradise this year. Especially seeings as there's more water and the bugs are finally settling down. I leave next wednesday Dave. You have to have that report up by Tuesday. lol.
  14. Lay a slight bed of mono on the spool then tie the braid to the mono with a uni to uni knot and finish spooling up the braid. PowerPro is good stuff. Should cast farther than mono and has no memory. Use a palomar knot when tying lures and snaps to that line. I like the stuff for much of the fishing I do. Good and sensitive for detecting the light bite eyes and super responsive to easy hooksets for big toothy pike.
  15. Bass fishing is serious business doods. Keep your shirts on during those office hours. lol. Some nice ones... good show.
  16. Those tables that used to have the aluminum band around the edge..... got my pops right across the belly while playing cards with his pilot buddies at the Perth airport... back in the day. Lit his belt buckle up a little too. Electricity that close to the nads... exciting stuff. Don't mess with Zeus people... he'll throw a bolt in your Cheerio bowl some morning and kill ya dead.
  17. Thanks Garry.... for nuthin'. lol. I like the UFO stuff better than that intelligent "sounding" response, which will be discredited because it's not very fun. Probably someone was up on the moon looking down at ya Dan and they flipped a big lunar booger at ya. Lucky the atmosphere burned it up before it got ya in the eye and gave ya some crazy space conjunctivitis.
  18. Ahhhhh. You gotta admit, Leslie was quite the trooper for the most part. It would have been great seeing her fight her first chinook. Many of our wonderful wives have certain things that frighten them... with Bren it's traveling big water and rapids, but wildlife not so much. With Leslie I could see how grizzly thoughts and sharp talons might be a bit stressing. lol. Tell her I say she's a city girl but with a big heart for trying to keep ya happy. She's smiling in the pics we see here.... next year back to the comforts of Kesagami for the both of yas though...???????? Area looks awesome Chris... the Terrace area mostly. Some great water ya took a crack at. Good fishing.
  19. Great report TJ. Tanker perch for sure. For them trouts try a willowleaf about a foot above a hook and a worm and just drag it around real real real real real slow along steep shoreline points, deep structures and deep weededges, or any holes around the ole beaver lodge.
  20. "I can only extend the trip to Sept 1st, as the 2nd is the first day of school for the kids." I'd pull my kids out of elementary school for 3 weeks for a trip like this with them. Seriously, if you extend your time to a realistic 3 weeks that allows you to actually stop and take a pi$$ now and then, and check out a site or two, well... this in my opinion is every bit as much or more of a learning experience than what they'll get out of a few missed days at school. It's funny, I find so many parents locked into the mindset that if their kids miss a little school that their whole precious little worlds will fall apart and they'll forever be trying to catch up. It's bullocks... the parents and kids actually lose out because of missed opportunity. So it's the first day of school... they'll be about 11 or 12 years of first days of school. March Break, Summer Break, Christmas Break... None of them are any break at all for the parent. Take your vacation Hearingfish. Take as much of it as you can, make as much out of it as you can. Show your kids that mom and dad can teach them a thing or two about the big world as well. Don't stress yourself out with a tight 2 week trip that you may only ever get one chance in your life to do. Be wise about this. And for God's Sake... don't just drive Canada if you can help it. My folks are near 60 now and they both just returned from a 3000 mile southern/eastern road trip on the Goldwing. With two weeks they wished they had more time because of not only all the sites, but all the great folks they met in the U.S. while there. Just my ...... $0.03
  21. Soft Tissue Injury. My bet is no break. Even if it was broken it could heal just fine without a cast. I've broken my left 4th and 5th knuckles 3 times in my life and an index finger. 2 of 4 times casted. Made no difference either way, just be careful for awhile with it. And yes, after the last break I went fly fishing for 4 days in Quebec and it did hurt using the hand to cast with so I wore a splint when it got real sore. You "could" do the same. disclaimer... this is by no means what you should do. You should make your own choice or see an MD.
  22. Who hasn't been busted for drugs... C'mon. At 38 he should have grown up a wee bit by now though. That cocaine is such a gateway drug anyway... his age you'd think he'd have graduated to something more hardcore.
  23. Couple questions.... Is the finger swollen or just bruised??? Does it hurt constantly, or only when you try to move it? Is the fingertip numb or feel like pins and needles? Is there any deformity? With your finger, how well can you push against and pull a finger on the other hand? Which part of the finger is injured?... from finger tip to knuckle (3rd joint) you have two other joints. First at tip, second at middle, then the "them's fighting words" 3rd knuckle, which is the bad one??? When you move your finger, do you hear or feel crepitus (something grinding)??? When you initially hurt your finger did you hear or feel anything snap? (not totally useful in determining one way or another) Is your pain better, worse or the same since about an hour after you first injured your finger?
  24. If I go Mike it'll be customized. Would like 3 days around Hawley Lake to play with lakers and pike, then leave on a leisurely 9 day float down the river after receiving a thorough intinerary of camp and fishing spots from my Peawanuck friends. Why stay only 7 when you're paying for the pick-up and drop-off all the same.
  25. Well, I was trying to remember where Larder Lake and the big fish was... then I think I confused myself with some roadside fish in Martin River. you mentioned the big fish is around North Bay... then your launch was about 15 minutes from the big fish. I thought your cottage was up in bum-fudge nowhere Quebec... and it is... around that Rouyin Gouin Slouin Place north of New Lisk. Just seemed to get the wires crossed. Sutton next year?
