  2. i have absolulty no interest in fly fishing anymore. tried long time ago, didnt sit well with me, rather huck a spinner or go downrigging
  3. I will put this on the classifieds soon, but i dont know where to start for price for this rod. Does anyone have an idea for price? its a 2 pc, mint mint condition, barely used with hard case. St Croix Imperial IF 9678 9'6 7/8 wt thanks much
  4. thanks for all the nice words everyone, and yes spiel, the plan is to annually try to best that, but it may take a while, but it will be enjoyable to try.
  5. thanks guys. I got that out on Lake Superior this past weekend. i have been reliving it every day since. i already have an 8x10 done and am working on my wife for a replica. whatever i get that spoon is going with either the picture or the replica. on the water i said it was damn near 50 but after a few beer and disussions around dinner in the 40's for sure, father in law said 45
  6. I recently went on a fishing trip that i have dreamed of for years and the fishing was great but the trophy was nothing what i expected. I was thinking of fish in the 20lbs class but not this. this fish took about 30-35 min to bring in, a fight that was pretty much a stand still for a good 25 min of it, on 14 lb test line, fishing off a rigger 71 ft down. truly a trophy and a relic. My father in law took this pic of me half way through the tug of war Here it is 44 long x 29 wide Another And the result of the hook during the battle. This spoon is officially retired
  7. tried braid last year on my spools and found the same thing. I also couldnt load up the rod like i like to as well, and found that the stretch in the mono really helps this. I will not go braid for a rigger rod again. Like others said, only for a dipsy.
  8. bottom bouncers with floating spinners with a leech, or floating jigs with a leech all about 6ft back of the bouncer
  9. Wawa and Dubreilville have lots of gold mines that are booming and always hiring. Patricia, Richmont, Wesdome Mines are a few and strike minerals i believe are starting up and have been hiring in the past 6 months.
  10. 100% sea lamprey, helped kill millions of them while working for lamprey control
  11. @AndersDereski awesome thread. use it mainly for sport updates but am going to try to use it for on the water up dates as well.
  12. Sure, 60 points a season isn't worth 5.5 million a year, not even close
  13. 5.5/ year for a guy that hasn't scored more than 58 points in a year! That means the Malkin is worth 10mil/yr. Take a look at this contract and will reflect what is wrong with the NHL and leafs today. Overpaid for under achieving. I though the contract my Bruins gave Kreji 3 yrs/5.25 was overpaid. Thank god we don't have this problem for 5 more years. Now, which other GM in todays world would really trade for this contract in a couple years? Absolute horrible signing. enjoy the next few years of mediocrity. This with the overpaid d-men on the leafs is a good thing for the Northwest division teams.
  14. A really interesting read from SI that i found on tsn this afternoon. A side topic from the trade deadline topic of last week. Smoking in Hockey
  15. Sorry, but the cup belongs with my Bruins! And with some luck and good goaltending again, it shall be!
  16. wasnt Mario Lemieux a smoker as well? seriously, i remember hearing that somewhere a few years back. BTW, the best trade deadline day ever! I hope James duthie keeps be.ating a dead horse on tv. Proves that the air time for TSN's show is ridiculous and should be shortened from 12-6, rather than 8-6.
  17. thanks for all the info, lots to think about and look at. Definitly going to look at the croix's. Looking forward to to the soft water!
  18. Looking for a decent bottom bouncing rod to pair up with a bait caster for walters. Anybody have any suggestions as to what type of rod. Leaving the Gloomis price tags out of the equation. thanks
  19. thanks guys. lots of good info that he didnt know and that i didnt. appreciate all of it.
  20. this question to the other downrigger guys. watching ol Dave mercer last night downrigging on WFN and he was using 200# power pro as his downrigger cable. anyone know why?
  21. the fish hawk is super easy to install. when you are installing your fish finders transducers install the fish hawk at the same time. a good idea is to get a board that either glues or screws to the stern of the boat and you put the transducers tehre. Run the wire from the transducer to the fish hawk display where ever you installed it and presto your done. Just dont forget to drop the probe with your rigger and your set. I used mine for the first time last year all year and love every minute with it.
  22. thanks guys, what is the SVOP and MED A3
  23. Hey all, first off, i am not becoming guide, no desire to be one, i enjoy my fishing without the "thought of babysitting" others on the water. A member in my family is seriously looking into guiding and i am just wondering from the guys on the board that are guides already and the others that may know, what are the requirements, licences etc that is required to start guiding? I know this can be a large topic just wondering of the above questions. thanks
  24. If Buff, Montreal, Jersey and the Caps win tonight, with a leafs loss, they are on the outside looking in jus saying
