  1. I'm staying just down the road and will be heading back to PA that Saturday. I may just pack up a little earlier on Friday and make a run around around to say HI Friday afternoon and evening. Still trying to work this out, but this sounds like a good opportunity to meet some new OFC'rs.
  2. Huh ?????? We'll at least I can understand the pics. Congrats Raf. Gonna have to find me a couple of those.
  3. Great report SP. Would be great to have a little island all to yourself in such a great area. I'll be hitting the French in just two short months for a couple weeks. My wife wants to try fo walleye, so I'll have to be doing a bit of homework on how to locate them. Thanks for sharing and just making me all the more anxious.
  4. You sure do grow them big up there. Always look forward to your amazing reports and beautiful pics.
  5. My neighbor and I take off on little fishing excursions from time to time. There is a reservoir about 1.5 hour away the he has had some great success fishing for smallies. He also said there would be a lot of Amish fishing the area as well. When I asked if they fished from shore or in boats, I was surprise he said boats. Curious as to how they transport the boats, when they use horse and buggies for transportation. Well, he said, they just rig a couple steel wheels together, place the boat on top, and hitch the contraption up to the horse, and away they go. So, I had to see this. Sure enough, a little homemade boat trailer, being pulled by a horse. They just unhook the trailer and roll it down near the doc, then lift the boat and place it in the water. No motor of any kind mind you. One person rowing and one or two fishing. The state was after them to license the trailer. But after a court case, they had won and licensing of these 'trailers' is not required. The reason: They are not being pulled by a motorized vehicle. I can also see that they have no lights on these things either. On the buggy, they do have lights, probably by battery (but I'm only guessing). Anyway, I had to share a pic of these things with everyone. Oh yeah, we were fishing in post frontal conditions and the afternoon got fairly hot. All the smallies we caught were of course, too small to warrant a pic.
  6. I fill my trailer tires to the max specified. Also, be sure to check your spare ... ya just never know.
  7. That's what makes us what we are, as the name implies ... a community. Some of this, some of that, and just a good mix. You'll find a great number of posts regarding the GTG, a lot of back and forth gratitudes, congrats, but more importantly ... the GREAT TO SEE YOU AGAIN. These GTG are a great way to meet members from the board, their families, and to make new friends. Being from the states, this is about the only way for me to put a face and a real person behind a name. I look forward to it each year and, to me, the time spent together, on a boat, at the dock, around the camp file, and just about everywhere else, is far better than the fishing. Come winter, we'll have the same thing with hockey posts. I never developed and interest in hockey and I know nothing about it. I rarely even read them. But, to the other members of the board, it is of great interest, So go ahead, talk hockey. You'll get the personal pleas from folks who are having a rough go of things, facing touch circumstances, family members, close friends, and will make a post. You don't know just how comforting it is for the person simply typing the post just to share and relieve some of the stress. Many have asked for prayers and I have prayed for each one, as I KNOW THE POWER OF PRAYER. I refer back to my first statement. As the name suggests, we are a community. Is a real community a cookie cutter where everything looks, feels, and posts the same ? To have a vibrant community, is to have diversity. Don't worry about post counts. I'm sure I've put up posts that received few responses. I'll take what I get and go from there.
  8. That's just unreal Meely. Tons of excitement and action. Thanks for taking the time to share.
  9. Looks like a very picturesque place along Superior. I'd like to take a trip around there someday.
  10. Great colors on that first one Deano. Very nice shots.
  11. Attaboy Joe. Kia said she would come down and give it a few licks to help the healing process.
  12. Good Deal Art. I wonder if Joe can type with just one finger
  13. Hey wait a minute. I've only ever caught two in my life and both of them were caught while trolling. Does this mean that I'm now SKUNKED.
  14. Good luck today Joe.
  15. I may just pop up around in the evenings to say HI and enjoy some of those southern-built campfires. A little 'grain' makes one whale of a campfire. We'll see how she goes.
  16. Truely one of a kind report Justin. I can see why you call this area breathtaking. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to share your experience.
  17. September sounds great for a day or so. I'll already be in the area from September 6 thru 20. May be able to cut a day or so out and drop by. Sounds great ... keep us posted.
  18. A couple great dishes that were receiving RAVE reviews. Thanks Marty.
  19. Allow Patsy and I to extend our deepest sympathy in the passing of Leslie's mom. I can imagine the trips to Timmins were long and tiring, but greatly appreciated. Must have been quite hectic in these last days with everyone in camp and the trips to the hospital. An amazing and wonderful lady Leslie is. Again, our heart filled sympathy to your family.
  20. Great reports folks. I remember passing by each other, in the distance, many a time. I guess you all didnt' catch Mr. Musky either. Anyway, we all had a great time. When did Leslie's mother pass ? I know she left for Timmins early on Wednesday am and didn't see her later in the day. We pulled out around 4:30am on Thursday.
  21. Fish that I am dreaming of. Attaboy Larry ... Congrats.
  22. Gotta love them fighing smallies. Great report and congrats on a successful opener.
  23. Very nicely done Chris. Nice summary of all the pics.
  24. Congrats to you both. Hope everything works out great.
  25. I would have done just about anything to protect my family and my own dogs. Pet owners are totally responsible for keeping their pets under control. When we walk our dogs, outside our fenced in yard, they are always on a leash. A couple times dogs have come out after our dogs and will even cross streets. More than once I've man-handled or kicked another dog to keep it away from us or our dogs. Even at Lakair, we knew Digger did not become friendly with our dogs, so when we walked past the lodge on the way to the boat, we had them leashed. Otherwise, they are good dogs and we let them run around. But they are our responsibility. Regardless, as a pet owner, you are totally responsible for the actions of your pets. I'd say something to the neighbor to keep his dog under control or I'd have it reported as the others have said. If your son was actually bitten, that should be a reportable event. Next time, it could be a whole lot worse or even someone else.
