My boat partner has an Abu 7000 that he upgraded, I also have the same reel and once I tried his I saw a noticeable difference for the better. I followed suit and had mine done, and love it. Big difference on the drag , especially when cranking it down for trolling. I would recommend it , it was only 30$ for the switch. As for where to upgrade in the GTA I'm not sure but if you contact a Shimano dealer/repair shop you might be able to find out where. Matt

I was doing some more checking and it seems up to now Salmonoids have not been affected( I could be wrong ) .But it looks an awful lot like VHS. Yes ....but it is not illegal to catch and release a non-slot size walleye while fishing for walleye that are in season? You are just not allowed to keep it. However it is illegal to target, possess, mishandle , not return to the water immediatly a fish that is OOS Both illegal but for different reasons. I'm sure any lawyer could bend and manipulated the terms and language for it (the rules) to have several different meanings. Common sense and respect for the rules has to be part of the process as well. Matt

Just a question ... Is there not a difference between a fish that is OOS and a fish that is just not legal size (slot size)....seems like two different scenarios to me ... JMO Matt

Lew , awesome . I also do the exact same ....almost. I cut the heads off a couple lag bolts and sunk them into the belly. I wrote an article for the MCI release journal about it and the success I had. It was in march april 's edition

I've had really good luck running these. Sidewinders also have been good to me.
