GO STEVE, GO!! Reminder, from here on out - if it's big, we need some sort of OFC 2008 sign in the pic to count it for the tournament. If anyone's wishing they'd signed up for the tournament, but hasn't yet, please hit the New Signups thread in the tournament forum.
-
Way to go!! Glad to hear you made it through without the extra pieces.

It's a great night to try out the OFC chat room, if you haven't already.

Hubby's grandfather was on the "6 months" list long before we met in 1994. When we married 2 years later, Billy (ever the ham) literally followed me down the aisle stage whispering "PSSST! It's not too late!!" He was here raising heck for several more years, before Alzheimers' finally got him in 2006. So much for the other "6 months" problems 10 years back. Here's hoping your father has a lucky streak at least as good as Billy's. You're in our thoughts.

Water levels in Sturgeon Lake on the rise again.
maybe replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
CHEX news last night had video of the dead fish in the water. Didn't see any other species, just carp. Some official-type guy being interviewed was saying that the township has set up another "carp only" area at the dump. Course, the property next to where they were videotaping could've been covered in dead perch, but it didn't sound like it from the way they were talking. -
Thanks, Roger!

Me neither! Have I been missing something glaring on the website/flyers all this time? If you wouldn't mind posting some details, Roger, I'd love to know: 1) if this is a straight match, or there's an extra 10% type bonus, like at Staples 2) what paperwork/proof is required to establish the competitor's price/availability 3) if/how shipping charges are added in (if you're matching an online competitor) 4) the big one - how about matching the mail order prices from basspro.com?

You remove your customers' emergency brakes on a daily basis? Have I missed something? From the Highway Traffic Act, specifically Part VI section 64 - Brakes. Brakes, two systems required 64. (1) Every motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle, when driven on a highway shall be equipped with at least two braking systems, each with a separate means of application and effective on at least two wheels, one of which shall be adequate to stop the vehicle as required by regulations made by the Ministry and the other of which shall be adequate to hold the vehicle stationary. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 64 (1). Condition of brakes (7) All such brakes and braking systems shall be maintained in good working order and shall conform to the regulations made under this section. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 64 (7). Penalty (9) Every person who contravenes subsection (1), (5) or (7) or a regulation made under subsection (6) is guilty of an offence and, if the offence was committed by means of a commercial motor vehicle within the meaning of subsection 16 (1) or any trailer within the meaning of subsection (5) that is drawn by a commercial motor vehicle within the meaning of subsection 16 (1), on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $400 and not more than $20,000. 1996, c. 20, s. 14.

His new one " " mentions largemouths, and the difficulties of gripping one's tackle box after a manicure. Nice range in his body of work...balancing the ultra-sappy love song with pickup lines like "I'd like to check you for ticks." For more of the funny stuff, try "(So Much Cooler) Online."

Love the cartoony fish ID t-shirts. One of their (now discontinued - gotta love 'progress') house brand topwaters was really unique, and is one of my best producers. I've had pretty good luck asking questions of the guys in the fishing dept. Marine electronics...well, I guess I have a talent for finding new guys on their first day unsupervised. Gotta echo the pricing concerns. Often WAY higher than retail - I can point you at an MSRP $200 item with a $280 price tag on it. I don't mind a buck extra here and there to pay for enjoying the nifty fish tank, but $80 on one $200 item....I don't spend THAT much time watching the gar.

Looks great! One question, though - does this vinyl have some sort of surface treatment that keeps it from being slippy when wet?

I believe he said he just pulled on it harder and it came apart. Was too shocked by the language to really soak in the details. Next time I looked at the thread, the post was gone.

Steve - best of luck with the move. You must really have your hands full. I hope it goes smoothly, and you all enjoy the new environment! Gerritt - you're not helping your "I'm not gooey!" argument.

Cats using my yard and Gardens as a Litter Box -NF
maybe replied to Tinman's topic in General Discussion
We used to have trouble with cats in my garage bay. Then I discovered the panic button on my car remote. Whatever you put in the backyard, your kids are going to get into. Cayenne is definitely effective, but I wouldn't sprinkle it around toddlers. They'll eventually get it on their hands, then wipe their eyes or pick their noses. Ouch. I'm voting for a trap and the Humane Society. Either the cats will be put down properly, or their owners will smarten up when it costs them $$. Whether or not skunks may spray in a trap, the only one I've seen bounce 3' in the air is Pepe le Pew. You should be safe putting the trap on the picnic table. Good luck! -
I watched some of this on TV last year. Pretty entertaining, especially when they . Here's a nice YouTube of .

Jeff and I were planning to wander through at some point or other. If anyone's thinking G2G, we'll happily adjust our schedule to fit in.

That sounds like a great line for a sig file these days. Thanks!!

I'd go with Tom C's "pour hot water on the joint" as a first shot...though maybe not quite boiling. (No concrete reason, I'm just the extremely cautious type, and I'm not sure how happy rods are with that high heat.) Heating the outside part of the stuck joint will make it larger, which should loosen things up. Try to keep the water on the handle side of the joint, you don't want to expand the inside/tip section of the joint. Anything I can't take the lid off of (glass jars, plastic pop bottles, whatever) routinely gets held under the hot tap for 10-15 seconds. Opens right up after that. You just have to remember to cool the lid off before you put it back on the container, or you'll definitely need the hot water again next time. This trick also works when you set one glass tumbler inside another and they get stuck. Turn the water on the bottom glass, and when it expands the top one will come right out. Good luck!! Next question for the more knowledgeable guys...what's a safe solvent to remove the oil with, once he gets the sections apart?

If our boat ever decides to run a stop sign, I'd rather not be in front of it. Taking the trailer in is a good idea. Even if it's something minor like the guys have suggested, having a pro bless the new baby is worth the price just for the peace of mind. You don't want to spend the day second-guessing yourself when you should be enjoying your first trip out. Again, congrats - she's a beauty! Love that the back seats are raised for visibility. If the designers were that thoughtful about the rest of her, you're going to have an amazing summer.

Z103 fizzles out 15 miles from me...only get to listen to it when I'm headed for Toronto. What'd I miss?

Check out Wikipedia for domain name and domain name registrar for the basic primer. Bear in mind that registration information can be pulled on any domain name by using a "whois" lookup. If you don't want your name, address, telephone number, email, yadda hanging out in the breeze, choose a registrar who offers a privacy feature. Instead of seeing your personal details, anyone running a whois will be referred to the company in the middle. Choose a large, established registrar - you don't want some little fly by night that might evaporate and leave you with trouble moving/modifying your domain name. I know of several small businesses who were screwed over by a local 1-man "internet company." The clients weren't net-savvy, and trusted this kid to "look after everything." He registered their domains in his name, ignored the renewal notices, and the domain registration lapsed when he didn't pay up. The clients didn't find out until it was too late to save their addresses - years of advertising $$$, and the companies' email addresses, lost forever. There are several sites out there in the business of selling newly-expired domain names. You can even get lists of what will expire 5 days from now. Tons of predators buy well-publicized dotcoms, redirect them to sleazy advertising websites, and profit from the hijacked traffic. You don't want to wake up one day and have your fishing club dotcom point to a cybersquatting porn site. I have a .org through Joker.com and a .ca through NamesPro.ca (Joker is in Germany, and doesn't do .ca). Both have been pleasant to deal with, FWIW. When choosing a domain name, bear in mind that people automatically think ___.com. The further you get from this (.net, .org, .ca), the less your chances are of people typing it correctly. Try to avoid those 3 unless you actually do have a network, organization, or Canada-only site. The fringes (like .info) start to appear downright shifty...you'll look better if you avoid them. Don't choose a name with a dash in it - people never remember them, and they'll wind up in the wrong place. If you register a .ca, you'll wind up with a CIRA membership. For most people, it's pretty much irrelevant. They sent very snazzy little USB drives free to members last year, but give or take some very ignorable newsletters, that's about all the effect it's had on my world. Good luck.

Hey, I'm thrilled you posted that Wimmins Training Guide - it's making me look good. Can I claim a bonus point for using Mossy Oak gift wrap on Jeff's presents? Twilight, don't think of it as a stupid grin - think of it as an enhanced range air quality warning system. When you're too far away for the audible alert, you can still read the "danger, keep away" sign.

Qick question - should have asked the CO's and Forgot

My mother's Aveo has smucked 2 deer in the last 3 years. One in 2005, one 2 months ago. 2005 was over $5k in damage. Bambi died instantly. She called it in on her cell, and OPP arrived on the scene promptly. 2 months ago was about $2k in minor cosmetic stuff. Bambi scarcely noticed, and fled the scene. When Mom called the OPP, they told her to drive 35 miles to see someone at the detachment. To anyone watching from a distance, it would've looked like Mom was leaving the scene of an accident. Not saying this is what happened in 4reel's case, but it's possible. Either way, abandoning a suffering animal is inexcusable. -
About 2 years ago, I set an unprotected system online to see how long it'd take something nasty to find it. No surfing, no email, no downloading, brand new clean system sitting still. 15 minutes into the test, I checked its drive - and it'd already been infected. Anything that can move on its own, and really wants to find a new home, can do so by brute force. Every machine online has an IP number. There's a finite # of those. A worm with time on its hands can sit there and try every # in sequence looking for a vulnerable machine. Think of it as a thief walking up and down the rows in a parking lot, looking for open car windows. douG, I'd say you're in the clear - it's been hours since I tried the joke URL, and nothing's happened to the test machine. Dangit, Gerritt...I think I've finally started to like you. Thanks for showing there really is a gooey center in there somewhere.
